Effect of Ti on the Structure and Properties of Cu-15Ni-10Mn Alloy As-Cast Smelted at Atmosphere

Cu-15Ni-10Mn alloy as-cast, which smelted at atmosphere, has a typical dendrite structure in Ni segregation characteristics. The content of Ni is higher on dendrite arms spacing than on the dendrite arms, but the content of Mn is less than on the trunk. Due to the Mn oxides easily, the processing performance of alloy as-cast cant meet the requirement of metalworking. The gas content of ingots can be reduced by adding a small amount of zinc during smelting, and the metalworking features can be improved by adding trace Ti that will refine the arms of alloy. The research results show that the grains of Cu-15Ni-10Mn alloy as-cast can be refined by tiny amount of Ti. The grain size decreases with the increase of the content of Ti, the branches size of alloy adding 0.2% Ti is about 30μm that is only 49.4% the size of the alloy without Ti. Titanium, copper and Nickel can form compounds of CuNi2Ti. The hardness peak of alloy with 0.2%Co is 114Hv that is 8% higher than the alloy without Ti. The electrical conductivity of Cu-15Ni-10Mn alloy as-cast waves not clearly.

Preliminary results of the analyses on 700 m ice cores retrieved from Mizuho Station, Antarctica, in 1983 and 1984 are presented. The majority of the physical properties, density, grain-size and shape, and total gas content, were measured at the drilling site. Fabrics, microparticle concentration, electrical conductivity, and stable-isotope concentration δ18O were measured in laboratories after the cores had been taken to Japan. In spite of inaccuracy in measuring both density and total gas content in the ice, due to interlocking cracks in cores, several attempts were made to correct the data. The coincidence between the incremental peaks in the depth profile of the microparticle concentration, as well as in the electrical conductivity and the warm trend indicated by the δ18O profile is discussed. The shape of the δ18O profile is characterized by two inflection points and is compared with results obtained from the Byrd Station, Dome C and Vostok cores. From this comparison, it is tentatively concluded that the bottom of the Mizuho core may be an age of the order of 10 ka B.P.

The micro-hardness and electric conductivity was studied in as cast alloy Cu-Fe-P alloys which were solution treated at 980°C and aging treated at 400-800°C for 1-20 hours. The micro-hardness peak value was 180 HV and the conductivity peak value was 65% IACS. The hardness and the electric conductivity all depended on precipitation principally. The addition of C in Cu-Fe-P alloy reduced the grain size and accelerated precipitation which resulted in enhancing hardness and electric conductivity together.

Addition of interstitial elements to γ-TiAl alloys is currently being explored as a method for improving the properties of these alloys. Previous work in which a number of interstitial elements were studied showed that boron was particularly effective in refining the grain size in castings, and led to enhanced strength while maintaining reasonable ductility. Other investigators have shown that B in γ-TiAl alloys tends to promote the formation of TiB2 as a second phase. In this study, the microstructure of Bcontaining TiAl alloys was examined in detail in order to describe the mechanism by which B alters the structure and properties of these alloys.

The zirconia parts are limited by machined surface quality. The grinding force is one of the most important parameters of grinding and has effects on surface quality. The MK2710 grinder and resin bond diamond wheels were used in zirconia grinding. The grinding force was obtained by Kistler dynamometer. The paper focused on wheel speed and grain size on grinding force, and examined the surface by SEM. The research results indicated that decreasing the grain size, the grinding force increased and the surface quality improved, and increasing wheel speed could decrease grinding force to improve grinding surface quality. The results can improve zirconia ceramic parts surface quality and promote application.

In this study, changes in the microstructure, mechanical properties, and electrical conductivity of cast and extruded Al–Zn–Cu–Mg based alloys with the addition of Li (0, 0.5 and 1.0 wt.%) were investigated. The Al–Zn–Cu–Mg–xLi alloys were cast and homogenized at 570 °C for 4 hours. The billets were hot extruded into rod that were 12 mm in diameter with a reduction ratio of 38:1 at 550 °C. As the amount of Li added increased from 0 to 1.0 wt.%, the average grain size of the extruded Al alloy increased from 259.2 to 383.0 µm, and the high-angle grain boundaries (HGBs) fraction decreased from 64.0 to 52.1%. As the Li content increased from 0 to 1.0 wt.%, the elongation was not significantly different from 27.8 to 27.4% and the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) was improved from 146.7 to 160.6 MPa. As Li was added, spherical particles bonded to each other, forming an irregular particles. It is thought that these irregular particles contribute to the strength improvement.

В данной статье даны особенности геологического строения района газопроявления «Цущар» в Кулинском районе на отложениях среднеюрского возраста, предлагается геолого-структурная схема возможного формирования залежи нефти и газа. Незначительные проявления газоносности, связанные обычно с минеральными источниками и подчиненные мощной толще юрских сланцев, развитых на значительных площадях нагорного Дагестана, начали обращать на себя внимание с 1931 г., в связи с поисками месторождений легких редких газов. Анализы газов показывают повышенное содержание легких редких газов в целом ряде месторождений нагорного Дагестана. Кроме группы месторождений Южного Дагестана известен пока только один выход горючего газа в Центральном Дагестане – Кулинском районе. На него указывает в своем рукописном отчете Дагестанскому Совнархозу геолог Н. М. Леднев. Этот выход подчинен юрским сланцам, связан с нарушениями неотектонического характера, образованными в результате сейсмической активизации региона. Цель исследования. Целью наших исследований является обоснование перспектив газоносности Горного Дагестана. На изучаемой территории отмечается наличие неправильных куполовидных складок с неожиданными направлениями их осей, пересекающими основное направление складчатости, частичными местными уклонениями в залегании пластов. Методы исследования. Основными методами исследования при изучении перспектив газоносности Горного Дагестана являлись геолого-структурный, стратиграфический, морфологический, тектонический и дешифрирование аэрофотоснимков. Результаты исследования. По сравнению с Предгорным Дагестаном и Прикумским районом, Горный Дагестан был подвержен более интенсивным геотектоническим движениям, неоднократно подвергался складчатости, испытал инверсию, со значительно большей амплитудой, что привело к усиленной денудации, развитию трещиноватости и разрывов, метаморфизму пород и органических образований. Все это отрицательно влияло на сохранение нефти и газа. Можно предполагать, что многие залежи, сформировавшиеся при прохождении продуцирующими толщами главной фазы нефтеобразования, были разрушены в периоды активизации тектонической деятельности на рубеже юры и мела, мела и палеогена. В дальнейшем шла генерация, преимущественно, газообразных углеводородов, которые при особенно благоприятных условиях могли сохраниться до настоящего времени. По результатам исследований можно утверждать, что газовое проявление Цущар могло проявиться в 1622, 1652 гг. в результате сильных землетрясений, эпицентр которых располагался в пределахисследуемого района This article describes the features of the geological structure of the Tsushar gas show area in the Kulinsky region on the Middle Jurassic deposits, and proposes a geological-structural diagram of the possible formation of oil and gas deposits. Minor manifestations of gas content, usually associated with mineral springs and subordinate to a thick stratum of Jurassic shales, developed over large areas of highland Dagestan, began to attract attention from 1931, in connection with the search for deposits of light rare gases. Gas analyzes show an increased content of light rare gases in a number of fields in highland Dagestan. In addition to the group of fields in Southern Dagestan, only one outlet of combustible gas in Central Dagestan is known – the Kulinsky region. It is pointed out in his handwritten report to the Dagestan Economic Council by the geologist N. M. Lednev. This outlet is subordinate to the Jurassic shale and is associated with neotectonic disturbances formed as a result of seismic activation of the region. Aim. The purpose of our research is to substantiate the prospects for gas content in Gorny Dagestan. In the study area, there are irregular dome-shaped folds with unexpected directions of their axes crossing the main direction of folding, partial local deviations in bedding. Methods. The main research methods in the study of the prospects for the gas content of Mountainous Dagestan were geological-structural, stratigraphic, morphological, tectonic and additional aerial photographs. Research results. Compared to Piedmont Dagestan and Prikumskiy region, Gorny Dagestan was subject to more intense geotectonic movements, repeatedly underwent folding, experienced inversion, with a much higher amplitude, which led to increased denudation, the development of fracturing and fractures, metamorphism of rocks and organic formations. All of this negatively affected the conservation of oil and gas. It can be assumed that many deposits, formed during the passage of the producing strata of the main phase of oil formation, were destroyed during periods of intensified tectonic activity at the boundary between the Jurassic and Cretaceous, Cretaceous and Paleogene. In the future, there was the generation of mainly gaseous hydrocarbons, which, under especially favorable conditions, could persist to the present day. According to the research results, it can be argued that the gas manifestation of Tsushar could have manifested itself in 1622, 1652. as a result of strong earthquakes, the epicenter, which was located within the study area

This paper investigates the progress of seawater intrusion within the plain area of Xylagani - Imeros, in SW part of Rhodope Prefecture, as well as the suitability of groundwater for several purposes, after qualitative valuation of groundwater samples from selective wells of the study area. The conclusions also include some managerial suggestions for the confrontation of seawater intrusion. The investigation in question took place between 1994-1997 and 2002-2003, and involves the installation of piezometric wells, geoelectric sounding measurements, grain size analyses, monitoring of the groundwater level fluctuations in selective wells, specific electrical conductivity measurements and chemical analyses of water samples from selective wells of the study area.

We report the room temperature thermal conductivity κ and thermal diffusivity α of polycrystalline La0.7Ca0.3-xSrxMnO3 for x = 0 to 0.1. The samples were prepared by heating at 1220 and 1320oC. The insulator-metal transition temperature, TIM and thermal diffusivity increased with Sr content. Phonon was the dominant contributor to thermal conductivity and the electronic contribution was less than 1%. Enhancement of electrical conductivity σ and thermal diffusivity for x ≥ 0.08 was observed in both series of samples. The grain size of the samples (28 to 46 µm) does not show any affect on the thermal and electrical properties.
