Objectives: The objective of this study was to examine the formation of wellness perceptions and satisfaction from antecedents that explain various attributes regarding service quality perceptions about doctors by patients. The topic is of contemporary relevance as health-care firms are reengineering their competencies to deliver personalized health services to for unmatched experience to develop long-term relationships with patients.Methods: Responses from 280 patients about service quality attributes of doctors, wellness perceptions, and their satisfaction are collected using a structured questionnaire. An exploratory factor analysis was performed using SPSS. 20 to identify significant dimensions of doctor’s service quality. The theoretical model developed with these dimensions, wellness perceptions, and patient satisfaction was estimated using partial least square-based structural equation modeling approach to test hypotheses about linkages among these constructs.Results: The dimension structure of doctor’s service quality contained constructs such as “price affordability of medicines,” “quality of diagnosis,” “interaction quality of doctor,” “appropriateness of tests prescribed,” and “quality of usage prescriptions.” These service quality dimensions of doctor significantly develop wellness perceptions and satisfaction among patients. Wellness perceptions act as a mediator in satisfaction development.Conclusions: Patient satisfaction and wellness perceptions are of primary importance in improving service quality in health care and to remain competitive. The health-care firms should train their professionals to interact with the patients more efficiently by adhering to the philosophy of patient centeredness in their service process.

Purpose This study aims to provide insights into the public–private partnerships (PPP) concept and its performance measurement in the health-care sector, identifying and refining critical success factors, including the perceived quality of health care, as evidenced by patient satisfaction and policy requirements for successful PPP implementation. Design/methodology/approach This theoretical study explores the existing literature on the relationship between service quality and patient satisfaction, to propose a culture-specific conceptual model interlinking the drivers of patient satisfaction with PPP. The in-depth theoretical research focuses on the qualitative performance indicators of PPPs, as well as their corresponding peripheral factors. Findings The research presents theoretical evidence that the concept of patient satisfaction can only be viewed through a multifactor perspective that incorporates demographics of patients, perceived service quality factors and emotions. It is found that significant improvements in service quality and patient satisfaction do, indeed, emphasize the effective role of PPP in hospitals. Practical implications The theoretical model is based on a comprehensive set of both cognitive and affective determinants. And considering these, as well as their causes, effects and interrelations, sets the foundations for testing and for further research to develop. Moreover, the outcomes of this study can be used as a theoretical base for the development of a PPP qualitative performance measurement framework. Originality/value This study attempts to fill the gap in knowledge on service quality and patient satisfaction as qualitative indicators for hospital performance after and toward PPP, while setting explicit factors and opening clear research avenues for further studies to follow.

This study aimed to examine the impact of the five-dimensional health care service quality (SQ) on patient behavioral consent (PBC). This study further explored the mediating role of patient satisfaction (PS) on the SQ–PBC relationship. A survey questionnaire was used to collect the data from public sector hospitals situated in Bahawalpur division, Punjab, Pakistan. We used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM) to test the hypotheses. This study found positive and significant relationships between SQ and PBC, SQ and PS, and PS and PBC. Our results further revealed that PS partially mediates the relationship between SQ and PBC. Our study offers a comprehensive theoretical framework of several service quality attributes (SQs) affecting patient behavioral consent (PBC) and patient satisfaction (PS) in health care institutions. Testing these above relationships via a mediation approach is novel and contributed to the current study on service quality.

As the health care sector in India is becoming more and more competitive, researchers and practitioners are getting increasingly interested in exploring how post-purchase behaviour of patients can be managed and high level of patient loyalty can be ensured. Patient loyalty has gained immense importance in health care service sector in India because of the drastic changes that have taken place in health care market in the last two decades. Today, the health care market is characterized by intense competition and specialization. Hospital management is increasingly recognizing the need to focus on patient loyalty as a means to achieve profitability and also to improve their competitive position. In this article, we theoretically explore the relationship of the antecedents of patient loyalty (service quality, perceived value, corporate image and perceived price fairness) and its outcomes (patients’ satisfaction and patient loyalty). The outcome of this research is a conceptualization of antecedents of patients’ loyalty in the context of health care supported by research propositions based on the existing literature. The article contributes to the existing literature a hypothesized model that permits the examination of consumer behavioural procedures with regard to service quality, perceived value, perceived price fairness, corporate image, patient satisfaction and patient loyalty. Exploring these processes through empirical studies in future will provide new insights, which will help hospital management retain existing customers and attract new customers.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of health-care service quality (HCSQ) dimensions on patient satisfaction and behavioural intentions in selected corporate hospitals from South India. Design/methodology/approach Based on Parasuraman et al.’s SERVQUAL variables, the study tried to identify the effects of each variable to patient satisfaction and behavioural intentions. Data were collected through systematic random sampling among 500 in-patients of corporate hospitals with minimum four days stay were considered for the in-patients’ sample. Structural equation modelling technique was used to investigate the effect of HCSQ dimensions on patient satisfaction and behavioural intention. Findings The findings suggest that in addition to “patient satisfaction”, the only HCSQ dimension that directly affects behavioural intention is “empathy”. In addition, “empathy” affects “responsiveness”, “assurance” and “tangibles” which, in turn, have only an indirect effect to behavioural intention through “patient satisfaction”. Research limitations/implications This research investigated the HCSQ dimensions effects on patient satisfaction and behavioural intention from the perspective of patients and corporate hospitals run by the private players. This paper contributes to the body of academic knowledge by shedding more light into the role of HCSQ dimensions, and especially “empathy”, in the intentions for corporate hospital patients. Practical implications An understanding of the direct and indirect effect of HCSQ dimensions on patient satisfaction and behavioural intentions is important to corporate hospital marketing managers because it offers them the opportunity to take certain actions for improving patients’ satisfaction and these actions increase their intention to revisit. Originality/value The paper manages to investigate the effects of HCSQ dimensions on patient satisfaction and behavioural intention, especially in the health-care marketing sector.

Purpose Through the lens of a total quality management approach, this paper aims to examine the effects of health-care service quality on patient satisfaction, repatronage intention (RI) and positive word-of mouth (PWOM) at a public hospital specialized in women and children’s diseases. The contribution is to measure and compare patient expectations and perceptions related to the public health service quality. Design/methodology/approach A structured questionnaire was distributed to in-patients who stayed at a public training and research hospital for at least three days. To analyze the relationship between variables, multiple regression analysis was used. To test the difference between expected and perceived service quality, the paired-sample t-test was used. Findings The findings provided empirical evidence that perceived service quality significantly influenced patient satisfaction, RI and PWOM. The “responsiveness and reliability” factor was found to be the most influential on patient RI and PWOM. The “tangibility” dimension had the strongest influence on patient satisfaction. Practical implications The results reveal that a reliable and responsive service, empathic personnel behaviors and appropriate tangibles are the outstanding factors for high levels of patient satisfaction, RI and PWOM. Originality/value Although the concepts of perceived service quality, patient satisfaction, RI and PWOM are explored frequently in service literature, there are few researches that focus on specialized health services for women and children’s diseases. By evaluating the service quality, it is hoped to provide an insight to health-care managers about the service quality dimensions and their relationship with patient satisfaction, RI and PWOM, specifically based on women patients.

Background: Health care services are costly and complex and provide facilities that significantly affect the economy and quality of life of individuals. In this study, we determined the gap between patients’ expectations and perceptions of hospital service quality to provide reference data for creating strategies to improve health care quality. Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, five private hospitals in Tehran were selected. Using a simple random sampling method, 110 patients were recruited and voluntarily responded to the standard service quality (SERVQUAL) model questionnaire. Data were analyzed by the K-S test, t-test, and paired t-test using SPSS V. 23. Results: The results showed that among the quality of health care components, the highest mean was related to the responsiveness (M=3.89) and the least was related to the tangible dimension (M=3.11). The lowest average quality gap (perceived service and expected service) was seen in the responsiveness dimension (2.96 and 3.28) and followed by reliability (2.66 and 3.90), tangible (2.53 and 3.91), empathy (1.36, 3.19), and assurance dimensions (2.39 and 4.75). Conclusion: The findings revealed a significant difference between the patients’ perceived and expected services, which indicates that the quality of services as perceived by patients was lower than their expectations. According to the findings, the assurance dimension had the greatest gap. To reduce or eliminate the existing gap, it is suggested that hospitals consider strategic and operational planning to improve hospitalization experience‏, quality of medical services, and hospital resources.

<p><em>This research is a</em><em> type of research used in this study is an analytic survey with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all patients who register at the registration booth at the health center </em><em>tigo baleh</em><em> 2014</em><em>, with a sample size of 65 responden.Teknik sampling conducted by accidental sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires. The statistical test used is the Chi-square test.Results were obtained from 65 respondents who have a high service quality, there are more than most of the 38 people with the percentage (58.5%) respondents who get satisfaction and lower service quality are getting less than half of the 24 people with the percentage (36.9%) get satisfaction. Based on the statistical test obtained p value = 0.035 so when compared with a = 0.10, the p value &lt;a (0.035 &lt;0.10) it can be concluded there is a correlation between the provision of quality primary health care with patient satisfaction tigo Baleh in 2014. Based on the analysis results, we can conclude that there is a relationship with the quality of health care in the patient room satisfaction Poly Public Health Center New York City, is expected to remain on health officials to improve service quality in order to achieve patient satisfaction when treatment visit.</em></p><p><em>Mutu pelayanan dalam kesehatan sangat mempengaruhi kepuasan pasien.</em><em>Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survey analitik dengan menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh pasien yang mendaftar pada loket pendaftaran di Puskesmas Tigo Baleh Bukittinggi tahun 2014, dengan jumlah sampel 65 responden.Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan Accidental Sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan kuesioner. Uji statistik yang digunakan adalah uji Chi-square.</em><em> </em><em>Hasil penelitian diperoleh dari 65 orang responden yang mendapatkan mutu pelayanan tinggi terdapat lebih dari sebagian yaitu 38 orang dengan persentase (58.5%) mendapatkan kepuasan dan responden yang mendapatkan mutu pelayanan rendah terdapat kurang dari separoh  yaitu  24 orang dengan presentase (36.9%) mendapatkan kepuasan.</em><em> </em><em>Berdasarkan uji statistik didapatkan   p value  = 0,067 sehingga bila dibandingkan dengan a = 0,10 maka  p value &lt; a ( 0,035 &lt; 0,10 ) maka dapat ditarik kesimpulan ada hubungan antara pemberian mutu pelayanan dengan kepuasan pasien dipuskesmas tigo baleh Bukittinggi tahun 2014.</em><em> </em><em>Berdasarkan hasil analisis tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan</em><em> mutu pelayanan kesehatan dengan kepuasan pasien di ruangan Poli Umum Puskesmas Tigo Baleh Bukittinggi, diharapkan kepada petugas kesehatan agar tetap meningkatkan mutu pelayanan agar tercapainya kepuasan pasien ketika kunjungan berobat.</em></p>

Background: Satisfaction is a feeling that the consumers feel when the service they receive meets or surpass their expectations. Public satisfaction with health care services is still a significant issue for health institutions in improving the service quality. Despite various efforts that health care providers have made, some residents in an area were unsatisfied with the health services in their environment.Objective: To determine the effect of the dimensions of health service quality on patient satisfaction at the Primary Health Care 1 Melaya, Jembrana, BaliMethod: Analytical observational study, a cross-sectional design. The total sample was 70 respondents. Data collection was performed using questionnaires. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the average value of patient satisfaction based on the five dimensions of quality of health care.Result: The dimensions of tangibility, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy have a significance value (p<0.05), while the reliability dimension has no significance value (p>0.05). So the formula used to predict patient satisfaction with health services received is as follows:y = 0,352+0,295*X1–0,104*X2–0,201*X3+0,334*X4+0,180*X5The dimension of health services that has the largest influence on the satisfaction of inpatients is assurance. Patients feel assured and satisfied when the health workers communicate their expertise and competencies before doing their work.Conclusion: Tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, and assurance were four of five dimensions of health services that have significantly influenced the satisfaction of inpatients.
