Past research links a decrease in religiosity with the development of marketing and, in particular, with the growing role of brands in consumers’ lives. Building on James's (1920) theory of the self, we propose that focusing on brands as a strategy for self-expression (brand engagement in self-concept; BESC) does not exclude religious commitment and may even be related with higher levels of religious commitment. We also suggest that this relationship is moderated by grandiose narcissism. The hypotheses were tested on a sample of 306 individuals in a cross-sectional study. The findings provide evidence that BESC is positively related to religious commitment and the higher an individual’s narcissism is, the stronger the positive relationship between BESC and religious commitment. These findings suggest that using brands as a strategy for self-expression is not a substitute for religious commitment.

Kata kunci: bullying, konsep diri, ketidakberdayaan, risisko bunuh diri SELF-CONCEPT AND INEQUALITY CONNECTED WITH RISK OF SELF-SUFFICIENT IN ADOLESCENTS WHO HAVE BULLYING ABSTRACTBullying is a negative behavior that is carried out repeatedly by a person or group of people who are attacking because of an imbalance of power between the parties involved. This research is a quantitative study using a cross-sectional study method with a correlation study design approach. The sample in this study amounted to 183 people obtained from random sampling techniques. The results showed that based on the results of the relationship test using Chi-Square between self-concept and powerlessness, the value of ρ (0,000) was smaller than the value of α (0.05), while the test of the relationship between self-concept and risk of suicide obtained a value of ρ (0.013 ) is smaller than the value of α (0.05). Thus that there is a relationship between self-concept and powerlessness with the risk of suicide in adolescents who experience bullying in SMA Negeri 7 Kota Bogor. Keywords: bullying, self-concept, helplessness, suicide risk

The effect of religiosity on individuals is seen more in stressful situations. Religion strengthens people in coping with the issues given rise by COVID-19 due to its contributions, such as reducing death fear and giving hope. The impact of religious commitment on COVID-19 fear, psychological consequences, and satisfaction with life levels in the COVID-19 period is investigated. To measure this impact of religious commitment, a cross-sectional study was designed with 2810 adults in Turkey. For this purpose, religious commitment, COVID-19 fear, DASS-21, and satisfaction with life scales were used. Mediation and moderation analyses were conducted to test the formed hypotheses. First, the impact of religious commitment on satisfaction with life with depression, anxiety, and stress was tested. Then, the moderating impact of COVID-19 fear in terms of the effect of religious commitment on satisfaction with life was analyzed. Finally, the role of depression’s mediation and COVID-19 fear’s moderation in terms of the impact of religious commitment on satisfaction with life was found. It was found that satisfaction with life decreased more in those with high COVID-19 fear than those with low COVID-19 fear; additionally, religious commitment increased satisfaction with life by reducing depression.

Social support has been supposed to have a positive impact on the function of the immune system. However, the relationship between perceived social support and immune function has not yet been fully investigated. In this cross-sectional study, we investigated the link between perceived social support and lymphocyte subpopulations and cytokines. 232 healthy subjects provided a blood sample and completed the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) questionnaire. Lymphocyte immunophenotypes and cytokines were determined. Significantly increased CD8+CD57+ lymphocytes and TNF-αlevels were found in group with low perceived social support. Multivariate linear regression corrected for possible confounders confirmed a significant role of perceived social support in predicting the number of CD8+CD57+ lymphocyte and TNF-αlevels. This study supports the association between perceived social support and immune function. In particular, poor social support may be related to a state of chronic inflammation sustained by CD8+CD57+ lymphocyte expansion and increased TNF-αlevels.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate which dimensions of price satisfaction influence producers’ trust in buyers and assess the mediating role of such trust in the relationship between price satisfaction and producer loyalty in fresh fruit supply chains. Design/methodology/approach A cross-sectional study design using both semi-structured interviews and structured questionnaires was used. The study was conducted in the eastern part of Kenya and included 600 smallholders. Data was analysed using structural equation modelling. Findings The results show that price fairness, price reliability, and relative price are dimensions of price satisfaction that affect producers’ trust in the buyer. Moreover, trust between the producer and the buyer is found to be a strong mediator between price satisfaction and producer loyalty. The findings support recent studies about trust and its mediating role. Research limitations/implications The paper is based on a cross-sectional study design, limiting the causal inferences which can be drawn. Producers’ preferences change with time and future studies should be based on longitudinal designs. Originality/value This paper shows the relationship between the multidimensional nature of price satisfaction and producer loyalty with trust as a mediating variable in the business-to-business (B2B) context. Although B2B relationships have been shown to be of great importance for smallholders in enhancing business performance with their buyers, little attention has been given to the role of trust as a mediator. This study offers interesting insights into the how trust plays a mediating role between price satisfaction and loyalty in a developing country context.

This study investigates whether the Dark Triad personality traits could be potential moderators of the relationship between the emotional labor and core burnout. The nonexperimental, cross-sectional study was based on a sample of 158 participants from different fields of activity. The results show that only narcissism (at medium and high scores) acts weakly as a moderator for the positive relation between emotional labor and burnout and, contrary to our hypothesis, it buffers the negative effects of emotional labor. These results can be explained in terms of Narcissism' conceptualization and are consistent with the newest proposed distinction form the literature between adaptive and maladaptive nature of this trait. Meanwhile the effects of the other moderators are insignificant. The results highlight both the importance of the emotional factor at work and the role of Dark Triad personality factors for core burnout.
