Small medium enterprises (SMEs) hold 98.5% of businesses and serve as economy backbone in Malaysia. However, the global competitiveness of Malaysia in innovation has been declined recently. The declining innovation index has been reflected a low level of innovation in SMEs. This study serves as one of the pioneer studies conducted to foster the achievement of Malaysia Master Plan (2012-2020), focusing on a fresh approach to bring SMEs to the next level through innovation. The study aims to examine which innovation factors affect innovation performance, as there are relatively little empirical evidences in previous researches and very little innovative activities in SMEs Malaysia. This study uses quantitative research methodology, 300 sample sets have been collected from Malaysia SMEs and the data was analyzed by using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). All proposed factors in this study (absorptive capacity, internal R&D collaboration and knowledge sharing) are significantly affect innovation performance, except technology transfer. The findings of this study provide theoretical contribution and practical contribution for small medium enterprise, stakeholder, academic institution, policy makers as well as a reference for government to help SME achieve higher innovation.

This study examines the moderating effect of firm size on the relationship between innovation and firm performance of small and medium enterprises in 29 countries in Eastern European and Central Asia. The study also investigates whether the impact of innovation in products and processes on firm performance is affected by financial capital. The method applied is partial least square structural equation modelling. The findings indicate that firm size and the financial capital both moderate and mediate the impact of innovation on firm performance, positively or negatively. The findings have implications for decision makers by highlighting the significance of firm size and financial sources when planning to introduce innovations to enhance firm performance.

Social media (SM) has become a necessity and a method to confront challenges and fierce competition. More than half of the population are using SM. However, its implication for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is not well documented and researched. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to review the literature pertaining to the adoption of SM by SMEs. A systematic literature review was conducted using specific keywords and database. This has resulted in reviewing 28 related articles. The findings was presented using frequency analysis. Number of articles are increasing steadily especially in emerging markets with large number of studies deploying the exploratory nature. The most widely used theory is the technological-organizational-environmental framework (TOE) and the sample size of the reviewed studies is adequate. Increasingly the structural equation modelling are being used. However, the use of intervening variable is minimal. The finding also showed that organizational and environmental context variables are the most important predictors of SM adoption by SMEs while the consequence of this adoption on business performance is mixed. There is a need for more studies to discover the consequence of adopting SM by SMEs using a combination of theories.

Micro takaful is one of the takaful product development strategies in developing the 'marginalized' economy of financial institutions. The objective of this study is to provide empirical evidence on financial inclusion as a factor of behavioral control in the Theory of Perceived Behavior (TPB) to analyze its influence with the tendency of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) entrepreneurs to the use of micro takaful. Data distributed via questionnaires to 372 respondents were analyzed using descriptive and structural equation modeling. The results of the study showed that there was a positive and significant effect between attitude and financial inclusion on the tendency of using micro takaful. On the contrary, subjective norm factors have no significant effect on the proposed model. The implications of the study indicate that financial inclusion is one of the most important policies to achieve sustainable development. In addition, takaful institutions and policy makers need to expand the supply of microfinance products, especially micro takaful scheme to MSME in Indonesia to ensure the protection and security of their businesses.

Organisational commitment and organisational citizenship behaviour have been extensively researched from the perspective of antecedents and outcomes. Literature shows that employee perceptions of equity relationships in organsations have been less extensively chronicled in research, especially in respect of organisational commitment and organisational citizenship behaviour, within a Zimbabwean context. The objective of the study was to explore the relationship between organisational commitment, employee perceptions of equity and organisational citizenship behaviours among employees of small and medium enterprises in Zimbabwe. The research design is located within a quantitative research paradigm, undertaken through a cross-sectional, non-probabilty covenience sample (n=464). Descriptive statistics, correlations and hierarchical multiple regression analysis were used to evaluate the data. The results showed that perceptions of equity, organisational commitment and organisational citizenship behaviour are low among employees in the Zimbabwean small and medium enterprise sector. The correlation analysis exhibits strong positive linear relationship between the constructs. Further, the results of the multiple regression analysis show that employee perceptions of equity and organisational commitment are strong predictors of organisational citizenship behaviour. The findings of the study will benefit owners/managers of SMEs and government entities in improving their understanding of the issues of equity and organisational commitment effects on organisational citizenship behaviour within the Zimbabwean context.

Abstract The growth and failure of small and medium enterprises has been a topic of discussions world over amongst policy makers and researchers. This study was guided by the following objectives: To examine the contributions of Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), to determine the challenges affecting Small Medium Enterprises, to examine how financial inclusiveness supports the growth of Small medium enterprises and to establish the relationship between financial inclusion and Small Medium Enterprises. The study used a cross sectional research design. Descriptive design was used and supplemented by inferential statistics. Correlation and regression analysis were adopted. The study revealed that financial inclusion is significant in supporting SMEs growth. The study also revealed that cost of acquiring and servicing financial services are high, there is also difficulty in using some of the financial services, and the way financial providers treat financial users, some lacked some degree of respect and dignity. The study recommends that financial providers should continue sensitizing the public on the available financial services beyond credit services, which are common and known. Digital financial service providers should encourage their clientele to use digitalized financial services which are cheap, secure and risk averse. Cost of capital should also be reduced to encourage borrowing while SMEs should innovatively produce goods that can be competitive at both domestic and international markets.

Environmental matters have been a subject of importance for national policy makers, ecology concerned groups and organizations. Green initiatives such as, green manufacturing has been seen to be a game changer in ensuring environmentally safe manufacturing by firms and nations while reaping the accompanying benefits. Investigations into motivating factors are still not fully carried out from all contexts. This research sought to find the effects that these drivers have on adoption of eco-friendly initiatives among small and medium enterprises from a developing country context. Structural Equation Model was adopted to analyze the data and verify the hypotheses. The outcomes indicate that financial and business benefits, competitor pressure and national environmental regulations positively influenced the adoption of green manufacturing adoption initiatives. Management and staff commitment influenced adoption slightly. These outcomes are vital to developing strategies for improving green practices implementation within firms for positive environmental and economic performance. Governments in developing nations especially Ghana will be well informed on which parts of the regulations to strengthen and enforce for improved environmental responsibility from Ghanaian agro processing small and medium enterprises and other businesses.
