The Bretton Woods compact that regulated the post-World War II world economic system till 1973 is dead, while a new one to take its place is yet to take shape. The controversy sparked off by the Third World demand for a new international economic order (NIEO) may be seen as a debate on what should replace Bretton Woods. This essay attempts to disentangle the assumptions, questions, and expectations pertaining to NIEO, especially in relation to the subject of dependence and interdependence. It analyses the affiliations and ideologies, concerns and interests of the advocates of both and evaluates the present stage of NIEO debate. In the end it examines the possibility of a North-South convergence around the nexus of self-reliance (mainly on the part of the South) and self-restraint (mainly on the part of the North) in a sustained effort to prepare for a planned transition, away from Bretton Woods and towards a more equitable and integrated system.

Abstract. Three-dimensional acquisition systems for architecture have significantly evolved over just a few decades, with them allowing point clouds to be generated through active and passive optical sensor equipment.Accuracy levels vary considerably in relation to both the equipment and techniques used, with the data obtained acting as a scaffolding for the creation of derived models that allow specific analyses to be carried out.Ongoing research on Palazzo Donn’Anna, a Neapolitan sixteenth-century building of particular historical and artistic value, is being carried out in this context and the first results are presented in this paper. The entire building has been the subject of an instrumental survey. The north-east façade was proposed as a case-study for the experimentation of diversified reality-based sensors so as to compare the accuracy and precision of the data. The comparison was also aimed at evaluating the performance of some processing softwares. Finally, in order to obtain an estimate of the data in the transcription from the point cloud to a derived 3D model, the reproduction of the same portion of the prospectus in a derivative model of both object-oriented and NURBS types was experimented.

This article aims to demonstrate the importance of sex magic in the construction of a specific form of corporeality within the esoteric practices of the 20th century, using Thelema, a magical-religious system developed by Aleister Crowley, as a case study. The body, through the re-signification of sexual practices and their space in social life, gains centrality as a locus of lived experience and as a potential for active transformation of itself and the world. This new way of building the body, positifying it as the space of subjectivity and plasticity, is totally inserted in the socio-political demands of the fin-desiècle. This way of building the body will be investigated using a mythical-ritual pparatus that reinforces, through the repetition of the rite, this new corpus of values linked to already existing categories, with an emphasis on sex, showing another face of foundational discursive duality of modernity: the body as a double of the subject (LE BRETON, 2002 [1990])
