The issue related to the evolution of the concept of terrorism under Russian legislation is examined in the article The relevance of the topic is determined, first of all, by the fact that the manifestation of terrorism is a serious threat to the international and internal security of each individual state, the entire international community as a whole. As a result of the theoretical analysis of domestic legislation on responsibility for crimes of a terrorist nature, the author has identified five historical stages (periods) of its formation, and presented their characteristics. In conclusion, a conclusion is made about the existence at the present stage of the problem of developing a definition of the complex and multifaceted concept of «terrorism». The definition of terrorism should be fundamentally complete, include characterizing specific features characteristic of modern ways of its manifestations. We believe that the modern definition set forth in paragraph 1 of Art. 3 of the Federal Law «On Countering Terrorism» is not ideal yet and continues to require attention from researchers and legislators in order to correct the terminology.

The present study was carried out to relate the role of natural products in the metabolism of an increasingly prevalent disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus. At present, in addition to the pharmacological resources, an attempt is being made to treat diabetes mellitus with natural products. We carried out a systematic review of studies focusing on the role of natural products on diabetes mellitus treatment. The bibliographic search was done through Medline (Pubmed) and Web of Science. From 193 records, the title and summary of each were examined according to the criteria and whether they met the selection criteria. A total of 15 articles were included; after reviewing the literature, it is apparent that the concept of natural products is ambiguous as no clear boundary has been established between what is natural and what is synthetic, therefore we feel that a more explicit definition of the concept of “natural product” is needed. Gut microbiota is a promising therapeutic target in the treatment of diabetes. Therefore, it would be necessary to work on the relationship between the microbiome and the benefits in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Treatment based solely on these natural products is not currently recommended as more studies are needed.

Introduction: diabetes mellitus (DM) has become a major global public health problem. Vitamin D (VD) deficiency, on the other hand, has pandemic characteristics and its consequences go beyond its known effect on bone metabolism. The discovery of vitamin receptors in various tissues has led to increased interest in non-skeletal functions, many of which are related to the prevention and progression of DM. 25(OH) D is the main circulating form and is the most appropriate and most widely used marker for assessing the nutritional status of VD, since it reflects both endogenous production and intake of the vitamin. Objectives: as a Working Group we proposed to make a review of the topic VD and Diabetes. In this first part we analyzed the VD: metabolic aspects, food intake and controversies about the definition of adequate serum levels. Materials and methods: a bibliographic search was carried out using the PubMed, MEDLINE, Cochrane, Research Gate search engines. The search criteria were "vitamin D", "vitamin D and diabetes", "vitamin D functions, metabolism, sources" "vitamin D toxicity". Complete articles related to the topic were selected. The vitamin D content of foods was obtained from the Souci Fachmann Kraut and USDA food composition data bases. Conclusions: considering the scarce distribution of VD in natural foods, the low consumption of source foods in the Argentine population and the current recommendations to limit sun exposure due to skin cancer, it is necessary to have fortified foods for massive consumption, in addition to milk. Nutritional supplements offer a safe option to supplement the diet as long as serum levels are monitored. There is no consensus on reference levels for considering an individual deficient, although most authors agree on the need to maintain serum levels above 30 ng/ml.

: Euglena, a microalga, has gained a great attention as it contains several bioactive compounds including food supplements, drugs and biofuels. The genus Euglena includes >300 species of unicellular, freshwater flagellates. The objective of this review article concerns the presentation of updated information on pharmacological and therapeutic properties and industrial implications of molecules isolated from Euglena species. A bibliographic search of scientific literature published till March, 2020 was made from scientific databases using different search engines.Euglenaproduces several antioxidant molecules, such as β-carotene, L-ascorbic acid, polymers of unsaturated fatty acids and phytotoxins useful in manufacturing many pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and nutraceutical compounds. It is a rich source of antimicrobial, anticancer, immunomodulatorycompounds.Though, several studies have indicated its therapeutic applications, extensive research is needed to explore its efficacy against many pathophysiological conditions including toxicity assessment of compound(s). Nevertheless, the biotechnological influence on industrial production of Euglena has been less exploited.

OBJECTIVE: To review the literature investigating the use of fish oil in preventing restenosis postangioplasty (RPA). DATA SOURCES: An Index Medicus and bibliographic search of the English-language literature pertaining to the use of fish oil in preventing RPA. The key terms used were fish oil, angioplasty, and eicosapentaenoic acid. STUDY SELECTION AND DATA EXTRACTION: The results of all trials, including abstracts, that were obtained are reviewed and critiqued. DATA SYNTHESIS: Restenosis of a coronary vessel at the site of angioplasty occurs 30–40 percent of the time. Because fish oil has been theorized to prevent atherosclerosis and because atherosclerotic-like processes are theorized to be involved in RPA restenosis, fish oil has been studied to determine whether it can prevent RPA. Results of such trials have been mixed. Some have observed a reduction in the number of patients with angiographic or clinical evidence of restenosis. Two trials have failed to observe such an effect. Reasons for the differences are unknown. Possible explanations include differences in study design, endpoint parameters, definition of restenosis, and dosing methods of the fish oil. Bleeding was not of significant concern in any of the trials, even when fish oil was combined with antiplatelet therapy. CONCLUSIONS: Fish oil may be considered for use in patients to prevent RPA. It probably should be continued for only six months following the procedure. Current data suggest that at least 3 g/d of eicosapentaenoic acid and 1 g/d of docosahexaenoic acid should be used. If possible, therapy should be started as soon as it is known that angioplasty will be performed or at least as soon as possible following the procedure. Many patients may not be able to tolerate fish oil because of its gastrointestinal effects.

Background and objectives: Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is the most prevalent antibody impairment. It is characterized by failure in immunoglobulin and protective antibody generation and defined by an increased tendency toward bacterial infections, autoimmunity, and malignancy. Most CVID diagnoses do not follow a classical Mendelian pattern of inheritance. In recent years, CVID has been considered an epigenetic phenomenon in the majority of cases, overtaking previous monogenetic and/or polygenetic theories. The aim of this study was to review the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in CVID, focusing on the involvement of the same miRNAs in various non-infectious clinical complications of CVID, mainly autoimmunity and/or cancer. Materials and Methods: A bibliographic search of the scientific literature was carried out independently by two researchers in scientific databases and search engines. The MeSH terms “microRNAs” and “common variable immunodeficiency” were used. All research articles from inception to May 2020 were considered. Results: The literature data showed the involvement of two miRNAs in primary immunodeficiency: miR-142 and miR-155. Both of these miRNAs have been investigated through mice models, in which miR-142 and miR-155 were deleted. These knock-out (KO) mice models showed phenotypic analogies to CVID patients with hypogammaglobulinemia, adaptive immunodeficiency, polyclonal proliferation, lung disease, and enteric inflammation. miR-142 and miR-155 have been found to be involved in the following autoimmune and neoplastic clinical complications of CVID: Gastric cancer, gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma, natural killer/Tcell lymphoma (NKTCL), and immune thrombocytopenia. Conclusions: miR-142 and miR-155 deregulation leads to similar CVID phenotypesin KO mice models. Although no data are available on the involvement of these miRNAs in human CVID, their dysregulation has been detected in human CVID comorbidities. The literature data show that miRNA sequences in murine models are comparable to those in humans; therefore, miR-142 and miR-155 involvement in human CVID could be hypothesized.
