The relationship between statistics and economic growth of a country, dating back to ancient times, was always strong. With no doubt, it may be assumed that the development of statistics have an influence on the economic growth. Among the benefits of properly working official statistics system, including surveys and education, there is also the increased production efficiency and rapid growth of innovativeness. The aim of the article is to present the importance of official statistics for the economic growth at national and regional level. The study is based on literature review concerning history of statistics and achievements of its fathers in selected countries as well as on Statistics Poland data regarding economic growth in Poland in the regional scope.

Within the sweep of Canada's economic progress, I should liketo devote special attention to one period—from about 1900 to the outbreak of World War I—as die period of most rapid growth in the history of Canada since die union of the separate provinces under Confederation in 1867, with die possible exception of die war-stimulated 1940's. I propose to point out certain parallels between that remarkable expansionary period and a much earlier one. I shall also attempt to isolate die important factors responsible for the upsurge of growdi after 1900.

Over the past century in six major economies, economic growth has been strongly associated with machinery investment, as is the case for a larger group of nations since 1950. Both macroeconomic patterns and narratives of the history of technology suggest that this association is causal—that a high rate of machinery investment appears to be a necessary prerequisite for rapid long-run growth—and points away from possibilities that rapid growth is the cause of high machinery investment or that a high rate of machinery investment is a good proxy for other factors that are important causes of growth.

Economists have long believed that economic growth will solve the problem of inequality and poverty. For decades, the question of whether and how inequality affects growth has been the subject of open debate in the academic world. In the same section, the redistribution which is considered part of the equalization step also has positive and negative impacts on economic growth. This paper presents a literature review consisting of several sections including: 1) literature review on the relationship between inequality and growth; 2) the relationship between redistribution and growth; 3) even distribution of infrastructure is part of the form of redistribution.

At present, e-commerce mode has been gradually applied to agricultural science and technology production, which has played an important role in agricultural economic growth and production efficiency. At the same time, the fundamental way out for sustainable and stable development of agriculture is science and technology. Generally speaking, part of the growth of the agricultural economy comes from agricultural production factors. The increase in input is partly due to the improvement of productivity of agricultural elements. Therefore, based on the background of the e-commerce environment, this paper chooses the entropy method to study the relationship between agricultural science and technology input and agricultural economic growth. Compared with the exponential method and the Bolat method, the entropy method can scientifically determine the specific weight of the indicators based on the variation of each quantitative index, so as to improve the accuracy and objectivity of the quantitative index analysis and avoid the adverse effects of human factors. The entropy method is used to evaluate and analyze the development level of agricultural e-commerce, which improves the accuracy and reliability of the evaluation results. Based on this, this paper makes an empirical study on the relationship between agricultural science and technology input and agricultural economic growth by using the method of entropy under the mode of e-commerce, constructs the index system of agricultural productivity, evaluates the situation of agricultural science and technology input and agricultural economic growth, and studies the relationship between them by using the method of regression analysis. Research shows that the application of agricultural science and technology investment and e-commerce mode can promote agricultural economic growth.

In the context of the japanese colonial empire, debates about colonial identity have tended to focus on the relationship between Japanese rulers and non-Japanese colonial subjects. The main problems for analysis have been the development of assimilationist and/or discriminatory policies toward colonized peoples, and the way in which the colonized—Koreans, Taiwanese, Micronesians, and others—resisted or adapted to the pressures of those policies. It is perhaps for this reason that rather little scholarly work has been published, in Japanese or in English, about the history of the Japanese colony of Karafuto, which was, after all, overwhelmingly a settler colony. By the mid-1930s, the colony had just over three hundred thousand inhabitants, of whom the vast majority were recent migrants from Japan, though official statistics also record the presence of some two hundred Russians, around two thousand indigenous people—mostly Ainu, Uilta and Nivkh—and almost six thousand Koreans, a group whose numbers were to grow very rapidly from the late 1930s to the mid-1940s. Very recently, however, increasing attention has begun to be directed to the complex, contested, and paradoxical process of identity formation amongst various groups of Japanese colonizers, especially amongst those Japanese who were born or brought up in the colonies (Kawamura 1994; 2000; Tomiyama 1997; Young 1998; Tamanoi 2000). In this context, Karafuto—as a predominantly settler colony—has a particularly interesting story to tell.

Abstract Background: Green economic development refers to reducing pollution emissions and increasing production efficiency while promoting economic growth. Although the transformation of energy consumption’s structure is “green," it may not promote green economic development due to the constraints of existing technical conditions. Thus, the development and use of renewable energy may be detrimental to production efficiency and economic growth. Therefore, the technological advancement approach that can help coordinate the relationship between energy consumption structural transformation and green growth should be identified. In addition, we should determine whether to develop new technologies or improve existing ones. Results: This paper uses the Global-Malmquist-Luenberger approach based on Slacks-Based Measure method to measure the levels of green economic development among the 27 member states of the European Union (excluding the Republic of Malta). Moreover, this study focuses on the impact of energy consumption’s structure transformation on green economic development through the threshold regression method. Empirical results reveal (1) the inverted N-shaped relationship between energy consumption’s structure transformation and green economic development under the existing technical conditions. The degree of energy consumption’s structure transformation can merely promote green economic development in the interval of 0.67–10.87. That is, the renewable energy consumption (% of total energy consumption) is less than 0.67% or greater than 10.87%, which is not conducive to green economic development. (2) Developing new technologies can stimulate the positive effect of energy consumption’s structure transformation on green economic development. However, the improvement of existing technologies fail to exhibit an effective impact on the relationship between energy consumption’s structure transformation and green economic development. (3) Coordinating the relationship between energy consumption’s structure transformation and green economic development can also be achieved by reducing the dependence of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on fossil fuels. Conclusions: With the existing technical conditions, the blind development and use of renewable energy may not be conducive to green economic development. When the degree of energy consumption’s structure transformation exceeds an appropriate range, it will adversely affect green economic development. Therefore, in order to better coordinate the relationship between energy consumption’s structure transformation and green economic development, European Union member states, especially those with a high degree of energy consumption’s structure transformation, should paid more attention to develop new energy technologies rather than improve existing ones. In addition, to mediate the transformation of energy consumption’s structure that promotes green economic development, we must prioritize and adjust the industrial structure and rationally allocate resources to reduce the GDP’s on fossil energy prior to increasing the intensity of renewable energy consumption.

This article deals with ethnonyms and their role in the famous work Baburnamа, written by the Turkic writer, poet and ruler Zakhiriddin Muhammad Babur. The text of a work of art reflects a unique, individual author’s picture of the world of the writer, his conceptual sphere, filled with a special artistic worldview. The relevance of referring to the study of ethnonyms in the text Baburnama is due to their insufficient research. Since ancient times, they have reflected various important social and spiritual phenomena in the life of the peoples of Central Asia. The study of ethnonyms will help the reader to imagine the history of that time, the genetic makeup of Babur’s empire; will tell about the relationship between peoples, about their language and culture. In addition to all this, ethnonymy can tell a lot about the author himself, about his socio-cultural and ethnicity. This work shows that the ethnonymic layer of the vocabulary of any language is especially valuable for research in the field of cultural history. The study of ethnonyms opens up ample opportunities for the study of individual linguistic characteristics that characterize a particular ethnos. Scientific works of V. V. Radlov and V. V. Bartold laid the foundation for various oriental studies, including the study of the Turkic languages, ethnography, folklore and archaeological heritage. Based on their works, we tried to reflect the interweaving of various cultural, ethnic and linguistic traditions in the studied material.

AbstractWe argue for viewing COVID-19 as an additional instance of bioeconomic interaction in an ongoing history of human relations with the rest of nature. We assert that COVID-19 and other increasingly frequent zoonotic pandemic diseases are a further example of global public bads (GPBs), which are collectively provoking the transition from an extensive to an intensive economic growth model characterized by the provision of corresponding global public goods (GPGs) and sigmoid growth. We describe how these dynamics map on to the classic production–predation dichotomy of peace and conflict economics and call for that dichotomy to be extended to the relationship between the human and nonhuman worlds. Finally, we argue that peace economists are particularly well-positioned to extend their research to diagnose human–nonhuman peace and conflict.
