Despite some successful practices in the use of gastronomic products to promote tourism services, the general recommendations for the use of the gastronomic brand as a tool for managing the development of a tourist destination in the functioning of the tourism industry at the regional level remain undisclosed. Based on the review of previous publications, the purpose of this study is to determine the stages of formation and features of the gastronomic brand to increase the attractiveness and efficiency of tourist destination management. As a result of the study on the role of the gastronomic brand in the process of managing a tourist destination, it was determined: the process of creating a brand should take place in stages, and involves determining the type of territory, identifying the relationship between the number of tourists and their gastronomic needs. historical traditions of ethnic cuisine and the creation of conditions for a harmonious combination of gastronomic brand with the brand of a tourist destination; there is a directly proportional connection between the gastronomic brand of the territory and the brand of the tourist destination: the presence of the former contributes to the sustainable development of the latter; The positive impact of the gastronomic brand on the development of the tourist destination becomes possible due to the harmonization of common value-oriented components implemented in the destination branding as well as during gastronomic branding. Digitalization has significant power to boost the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Most scholars approached the phenomenon from different standpoints by examining the effects of information technology skills, digital skills, information systems capabilities, information and communication technologies (ICT) adoption, and digitalization on firm performance. However, although the terms are interrelated, the impact of digital maturity on SMEs' performance has been rarely investigated. Digital maturity examines the extent of digitalization and digital capabilities of organizations, which is essential in evaluating state-of-the-art organizations' digitalization efforts and providing a roadmap for further improvement. Although digitalization offers various benefits to organizations, its direct effect on the performance outcome is still arguable. Prior studies had revealed mixed findings when they assessed the impact of digital maturity on firm performance. Hence, some studies called for research for the examination of possible intervening variables. Consequently, this study examines the effects of digital maturity and organizational agility on firm performance. Furthermore, the moderating role of organizational agility in the digital maturity-firm performance link is also investigated. Data for testing the proposed model was collected from SMEs in the Marmara Region of Turkey using a convenience sampling technique. The structural equation modeling with partial least squares estimation (PLS-SEM) approach was used to analyze 119 responses collected from SMEs via face-to-face and online questionnaires. Eighty-two of the respondents identified themselves as entrepreneurs/partners. 13 respondents are senior executives, 14 are mid-level managers, 8 are white-collar employees, and two stated that they work in different positions than these. The findings show that organizational agility and digital maturity have a positive impact on firm performance. However, when the role of organizational agility is examined as a moderator, it is discovered that the factor reduces the effect of digital maturity on firm performance.

Abstract Research background: Recent years have brought a real explosion of new tools and methods of conducting market activities based on new technologies. Solutions based on new technologies carry great development potential for an organization. There is a belief that new technologies – in particular, programmatic buying (analyzed in this article) – also impact an organization’s ability to compete. Programmatic buying (PB) is a tool but also a new model of sales and purchase of advertising, under which the current package approach (traditional) has been replaced by a fully automated individualized approach. Purpose: The aim of the article is to assess the impact of technology on an organization’s ability to compete with the example of PB. Research methodology: The empirical basis is both qualitative and quantitative research conducted in 2018–2019. Results: The empirical material provides the basis for rejecting the main research hypothesis which claims that the usage of PB increases the effectiveness and efficiency of advertising and thanks to this on a companies’ ability to compete. PB has a positive impact only on the effectiveness and efficiency of graphic ads. The same relation was not observed in terms of video ads. Nevertheless the results are not clear. It is recommended to deepen the analysis. Novelty: Due to the fact that programmatic buying is a relatively new technologic solution there is no research that proves its impact on the marketing activities efficiency as well as its role in building the competitive advantage of a company, especially on the Polish or European market. This research starts the discussion of the role of PB in companies’ market activities and fits in the dispute of the significance of new technologies.

The article is aimed at analyzing the activities of domestic banks in the digital economy. The publication proves the need to consider the digital economy as an economy based on the use of digital data and is not limited to the trade sphere. Accordingly, it is proposed to consider the process of digitalization of the banking sector as a process of transition of the banks’ activities from the traditional form to one based on the use of information and communication technologies. The digitalization process has both a negative and positive impact on the activities of banks. As a result of new technologies, the advantage of banks was leveled, which was based on the use of expensive system software for their work within the framework of the desintermediation process. Under the new conditions, large global or local tech giants have significantly influenced the market, which, having a large customer base, additionally offer them financial services. Significantly affect the market the neo-banks, which, having transferred most of the activity online, caused the need to revise the feasibility of the existence of bank branches. Fintech companies have become the main competitors of banks, which is explained by their awareness in the innovation market and great flexibility. At the same time, cooperation between banks and fintech companies is promising. The article takes into account the impact of the pandemic on the financial services market and the activities of all participants, including banks. A significant restriction of social contacts led to the transition of a large number of services online, including the banking ones. Customers of banks received a push to use mobile applications. In a pandemic, the criteria that influence the choice of the bank have significantly changed. Changing priorities towards a greater choice of remote services, the convenience of obtaining them, should be taken into account by banking institutions in their activities.

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam which has a function of faith, social and economic functions. Muslims who can pay zakat are required to give at least 2.5 per cent of their wealth. The problem of poverty prevalent in disadvantaged regions because of the difficulty of access to information and communication led to a gap that is so high in wealth and resources. The instrument of zakat provides a paradigm in the achievement of equitable wealth distribution and healthy circulation. Zakat potentially offers a better life and improves the quality of human being. There is a human quality improvement not only in economic terms but also in spiritual terms such as improving religiousity. This study aims to examine the role of zakat to alleviate humanitarian issues in disadvantaged regions such as Sijunjung, one of zakat beneficiaries and impoverished areas in Indonesia. The researcher attempted a Cibest method to capture the impact of zakat beneficiaries before and after becoming a member of Zakat Community Development (ZCD) Program in material and spiritual value. The overall analysis shows that zakat has a positive impact on disadvantaged regions development and enhance the quality of life of the community. There is an improvement in the average of mustahik household incomes after becoming a member of ZCD Program. Cibest model demonstrates that material, spiritual, and absolute poverty index decreased by 10, 5, and 6 per cent. Meanwhile, the welfare index is increased by 21 per cent. These findings have significant implications for developing the quality of life in disadvantaged regions in Sijunjung. Therefore, zakat is one of the instruments to change the status of disadvantaged areas to be equivalent to other areas.

AbstractTranslation is an important means of enabling access to information in an emergency response. Increasingly, volunteer translators have been using social media platforms to self-organize and carry out urgent translation tasks that effectively complement official disaster relief efforts. However, the role of crowdsourced translations and the capacity of volunteer translators in reducing the impact of disasters remain underestimated and therefore understudied. Based on semi-structured interviews with five volunteer translators and online observation of their translation practices, this study investigates the role of a volunteer-driven crowdsourced translation effort in facilitating the donation and procurement of medical supplies between Wuhan and the world. By addressing the real challenges of urgent crisis communication in Wuhan in the early stages of the pandemic, this study draws attention to the need to integrate information and communication technologies with multilingual resources for disaster relief. In addition, it calls for the inclusion of multilingual logistics in national emergency preparation, response and recovery plans.

The success of a construction project is a widely discussed topic, even today, and there exists a difference of opinion. The impact of communication and conflict on project success is an important, but least addressed, issue in literature, especially in the case of underdeveloped countries. Miscommunication and conflict not only hinder the success of a project but also may lead to conflicts. The focus of this paper was to examine the impact of communication on project success with the mediating role of conflict. By using SPSS, demographics, descriptive statistics and correlation were determined. Smart PLS version 3.0 was used for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), internal accuracy and validity estimates, hypothesis checking and mediation testing. The results showed that formal communication has a negative impact on the success of a construction project, resulting in conflicts among project team members, whereas informal communication and communication willingness have a positive impact on project success because people tend to know each other, and trust is developed. Task, process and relationship conflicts were used as mediating variables. It was found that task conflict effects the relations positively because project team members suggest different ways to do a certain task, and, hence, project success is achieved. On the contrary, process conflict and relationship conflict have a negative impact on communication and project success. Both of these conflicts lead to miscommunication, and project success is compromised. Hence, it is the responsibility of the project manager to enhance communication among project team members and to reduce the detrimental effects of process and relationship conflict on project success.
