BackgroundClinical experiences provide an opportunity for nursing students to integrate theoretical knowledge into practice, and analyze their learning using a theoretical model. Students do not take this opportunity unless it is intentionally included by the facilitators. These observations from the second cohort of medical surgical nursing students with their facilitators, regarding their clinical training period in selected sub-specialties at the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK) aimed at developing students’ analytical and observational skills while developing clinical skills.MethodsThe study involved nine medical surgical nursing students who were in different subspecialties at CHUK from 7th January up to the 20th February, 2019. Informed observational approach and concomitant reporting were used to validate their learning and gain clinical experience. The students used Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory to analyze their experience, with the focus on innovative skills.ResultsAll medical surgical nursing students reported that they improved their knowledge and skills during clinical practice, while broadening their outlook.ConclusionKolb’s Experiential Learning Theory is useful in validating and bridging theoretical learning to clinical practice.Rwanda J Med Health Sci 2021;4(3):430-436

Total or partial vulvo-vaginectomy or vaginectomy are not routinely performed due to the complexity of the techniques and because they are considered radical treatments. Little information can be found in the literature, as the same technique is often named in a different way by different authors, confusing the reader. Therefore, the aim of this essay is to describe five different surgical techniques: partial vaginectomy, complete vaginectomy, partial vestibule-vaginectomy, vulvo-vestibule-vaginectomy and vulvo-vestibulectomy. All techniques are described on the basis of the correct identification of the anatomical nomenclature related to structures involved in surgery, in order to give a more precise and unambiguous description and execution of surgical techniques. Moreover, possible intraoperative and perioperative complications and the authors’ clinical experience in 33 dogs are described. All techniques are well tolerated and could be curative in case of benign or malignant tumours that have not yet metastasized and palliative in other cases. Moreover, they are also useful for therapeutic purposes for chronic vaginitis, severe vaginal cysts or congenital abnormalities. It is our opinion that having five different available techniques to approach vaginal disease is useful to perform the best surgery according to the clinical findings, patient’s characteristics, technique invasiveness and whether it is palliative or not.

Thyroid diseases are divided into papillary carcinoma and nodular diseases, which are very harmful to the human body. Ultrasound is a common diagnostic method for thyroid diseases. In the process of diagnosis, doctors need to observe the characteristics of ultrasound images, combined with professional knowledge and clinical experience, to give the disease situation of patients. However, different doctors have different clinical experience and professional backgrounds, and the diagnosis results lack objectivity and consistency, so an intelligent diagnosis technology for thyroid diseases based on the ultrasound image is needed in clinic, which can give objective and reliable diagnosis opinions on thyroid diseases by extracting the texture, shape, and other information of the image and assist doctors in clinical diagnosis. This paper mainly studies the intelligent ultrasonic diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer based on machine learning, compares the ultrasonic characteristics of PTMC diagnosed by using the new ultrasound technology (CEUS and UE), and summarizes the differential diagnosis effect and clinical application value of the two technology methods for PTMC. In this paper, machine learning, diffuse thyroid image features, and RBM learning methods are used to study the ultrasonic intelligent diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer based on machine learning. At the same time, the new contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) technology and ultrasound elastography (UE) technology are used to obtain the experimental phenomena in the experiment of ultrasonic intelligent diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer. The results showed that 90% of the cases were diagnosed by contrast-enhanced ultrasound and confirmed by postoperative pathology. CEUS and UE have reliable practical value in the diagnosis of PTMC, and the combined application of CEUS and UE can improve the sensitivity and accuracy of PTMC diagnosis.

Background: Science gets impact on physical health. “Science gets us physical comforts, spirituality brings us mental calm”. Dalai lama 2006. The meaning of spirituality and spiritual care among nurses is culturally constituted and influenced by many factors such as the nurse’s ethnic background, religious affiliation, level of education and clinical experience. Spiritual care is a recognized field in nursing (Bald acchino 2006) and an element of quality nursing care (Mc Even 2005). Many scientific studies have shown that when meditation and chanting is done in groups it has more benefits than when done individually. (Dr. K.K Aggarwal, 2017).

Introduction: Dental profession has an ethical and legal responsibility in patient care. A properly maintained patient record is a very important aspect of this patient care. The aim of this study was to evaluate dentists' practice in obtaining and recording the medical and pharmacological history of patients in Yazd City in 2020. Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 197 dentists working in Yazd City were selected during the study and their practice in obtaining and recording medical history was evaluated using a valid questionnaire. Data were analyzed by SPSS23 statistical software t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: Out of 197 dentists participating in this study, 93 (52.8%) were male and 104 (47.2%) were female. Their mean age was 39.37± 8.36 years and their mean clinical experience was 6.5± 9.25 years. The mean score of dentists' practice in obtaining and recording the medical and pharmacological history was 61.30±4.95 (range 45-72) out of 72 points. There was no statistically significant difference between the mean score of dentists' practice by gender, clinical experience, university of study and degree (P-value>0.05), but there was a statistically significant relationship between dentists' age and their practice score (P-value=0.040). Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, the mean practice source of dentists in obtaining and recording the medical and pharmacological history of patients was good. The effect of gender, university of study and degree on dentists' practice was not significant. However, with increasing age and experience in dentistry, the practice score of dentists was lower.
