Abstract We investigate the role of a dynamical torsion field coming from a geometrical non Riemannian model. This model is reminiscent of a generalized Born-Infeld theory and the torsion plays a fundamental role trough its Hodge dual: the pseudovector h_{μ}. This h_{μ} contains axion, Kalb-Ramond 2-form and physical observables of macroscopic character. An emergent interaction Lagrangian arises from the model and it is compared with a superstring inspired one from [8] pulling out several important consequences in favor of our proposal, as the possibility of establishing a clear connection between the change of CMB polarization plane and the anomalous current n_{chiral}.

The torsion field as phenomenon and mechanism, has mainly drawn attention and its deep analysis came to the conclusion that torsion is a subtle phenomenon and the field is the element which contains and generates the state of torsion itself. Often torsional fields, space rotating fields, inter-dimensional ports and vortexes are mentioned in this context. We observed that the torsional field is created by dividing information [16], thus it is a component resulted from the informational dimension [19].

Thermal Leptogenesis and the gravitino problem are reviewed in the framework of non-standard cosmologies. We consider in particular the f ( T ) cosmology, where T is the torsion field. We constrain the parameters space of these cosmological models consistently with thermal Leptogenesis scenario (with degenerate mass spectrum of light neutrinos), and we show that they allow to solve the gravitino problem as well. Owing to the similar characteristics to f ( T ) cosmology, we shortly discuss also the case of the shear dominated Universe.

It is shown the antisymmetric part of the metric tensor is the potential for the torsion field, which arises from intrinsic spin. To maintain gauge invariance, the nonsymmetric part of the metric tensor must be generalized to include the electromagnetic field. This result leads to a link between the cosmological constant and the electromagnetic field.

One of the greatest unsolved issues of the physics of this century is to find a quantum field theory of gravity. According to a vast amount of literature unification of quantum field theory and gravitation requires a gauge theory of gravity which includes torsion and an associated spin field. Various models including either massive or massless torsion fields have been suggested. We present arguments for a massive torsion field, where the probable rest mass of the corresponding spin three gauge boson is the Planck mass.
