The effect of the electric field on hydrogen-like states in β-ZnP2 is investigated. It was found that the exciton states Cn=1 in the electric field of the Schottky barrier undergo an anomalous Stark shift, and the states that form a reverse hydrogen-like series of absorption lines (IOS) are practically insensitive to the electric field. The laws governing the behavior of the exciton Xn=2 state "flammable" in an electric field in β-ZnP2 have been determined.

The measurement accuracy of trace gas detection based on infrared absorption spectroscopy is influenced by the overlap of absorption lines. A method for correcting the interference of overlapping absorption lines using second harmonic spectral reconstruction (2f-SR) is proposed to improve the measurement accuracy. 2f-SR includes three parts: measurement of gas temperature and use of the differences in temperature characteristics of absorption lines to correct the temperature error, 2f signal restoration based on laser characteristics to eliminate the influence of waveform change on overlapping absorption lines, and fast multi-peak fitting for the separation of interference from overlapping absorption lines. The CH4 measurement accuracy based on overlapping absorption lines is better than 0.8% using 2f-SR. 2f-SR has a lower minimum detection limit (MDL) and a higher detection accuracy than the separation of overlapping absorption lines based on the direct absorption method. The MDL is reduced by two to three orders of magnitude and reaches the part per million by volume level. 2f-SR has clear advantages for correcting the interference of overlapping absorption lines in terms of both MDL and measurement accuracy.

Optical high-resolution spectroscopic observations of the emission-line star MWC645 are presented. The spectrum exhibits strong variable double-peaked Balmer emission lines as well as low-excitation emission lines of FeII, [FeII], and [OI] which are signatures of the B[e] phenomenon, while lines of helium have not been found. In addition to the emission lines, for the first time we identified absorption lines of neutral metals (e.g., LiI 6708  A, CaI 6717 A, and a number of FeI and TiI lines) that indicate the presence of a cool component in the system. The heliocentric radial velocity measured in our best spectrum was found to be −65.1±1.0 kms −1 for the emission lines and −23.2±0.4 kms −1 for the absorption lines. Using a combination of photometric and spectroscopic data as well as the Gaia EDR3 distance (D=6.5±0.9 kpc), we disentangled the component contributions and estimated their temperatures and luminosities (∼15000 K and ∼4000 K, log L/L ? = 3.8±0.2 and 2.8±0.2 for the hot and cool component, respectively).

Abstract The circumgalactic medium (CGM) contains information on gas flows around galaxies, such as accretion and supernova-driven winds, which are difficult to constrain from observations alone. Here, we use the high-resolution TNG50 cosmological magnetohydrodynamical simulation to study the properties and kinematics of the CGM around star-forming galaxies in 1011.5–1012 M ⊙ halos at z ≃ 1 using mock Mg ii absorption lines, which we generate by postprocessing halos to account for photoionization in the presence of a UV background. We find that the Mg ii gas is a very good tracer of the cold CGM, which is accreting inward at inflow velocities of up to 50 km s−1. For sight lines aligned with the galaxy’s major axis, we find that Mg ii absorption lines are kinematically shifted due to the cold CGM’s significant corotation at speeds up to 50% of the virial velocity for impact parameters up to 60 kpc. We compare mock Mg ii spectra to observations from the MusE GAs FLow and Wind (MEGAFLOW) survey of strong Mg ii absorbers (EW2796 Å 0 > 0.5 Å). After matching the equivalent-width (EW) selection, we find that the mock Mg ii spectra reflect the diversity of observed kinematics and EWs from MEGAFLOW, even though the sight lines probe a very small fraction of the CGM. Mg ii absorption in higher-mass halos is stronger and broader than in lower-mass halos but has qualitatively similar kinematics. The median-specific angular momentum of the Mg ii CGM gas in TNG50 is very similar to that of the entire CGM and only differs from non-CGM components of the halo by normalization factors of ≲1 dex.

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to show how we can obtain spectra for different astronomical objects using low coat equipment. Where a high-efficiency diffraction grating named “The Star Analyzer” was used by the International Astronomical Center (IAC) in Abu Dhabi, UAE to get the spectrum of different astronomical objects. Balmer series was readily visible when observing an “A” type star. TiO absorptions lines were distinguished by observing an “M” type star. Methane absorption lines were visible by observing Uranus and Neptune. Whereas HI and HeI emission lines were detected by observing a blue hypergiant. In addition, C2 Swan band absorption lines were identified by observing a red giant carbon star. This type of observation is very interesting for public outreach as well as university students, because it shows astrophysical principles for public and students practically and by using low cost equipment.

Abstract The magnetostatic and magnetic resonance properties of the Y0.5Sr0.5Cr0.5Mn0.5O3 polycrystalline system have been experimentally studied. The intracrystalline ferromagnetic interaction turned out to be prevalent while the intercrystalline interaction appears to have antiferromagnetic character. We found that two absorption lines are observed in the spectrum in the magnetic ordering region at T < 80 K. The high-field line corresponds to the interacting parts of polycrystal related to the disordered shells and the low-field peak is system of ferromagnetic particles.
