The paper is to deal with the analysis of Profinet IO networks based on the design of a watertight door control system on a passenger ship. The analysis was based on modernization of existing watertight door system installed on a ship. The currency system on ship it use old PLC like S7-200, receive and send date only serial communication. In laboratory on University conditions the same network using two controls company Siemens PLC S7-1214 DC/DC/DC and simulated HMI write on WinCC was recreated and modified with Profinet IO standard. The authors propose a novel watertight door control system using two controllers and a touch panel HMI. The control algorithms have been written in LAD language with use norm SOLAS about list alarm. Program it was write in TIA Portal with use Function blocks (FB) with Block Date (DB) and Function (FC). When designing the laboratory bench, the authors based their assumptions on the actual solutions used on the Balmoral passenger ship. Tests were carried out on parameters related to dimensions, including the length of cables between communication modules of controllers, giving in results the actual lengths of cables in the current system and the one proposed in this work. Then, the possibility of data exchange between the two controllers and the visualization of the simulated KTP 1200 panel was examined. The operation of the software was verified, including its optimization for the correct operation of the entire system. The final part of the paper, after verifying the performance of the system in three steps, an analysis of the current system and the novel solution based on Profinet IO network is given.

The task of inclusion of internal water transport into multimodal transport schemas of freight and passenger transportation now becomes a special actuality, what dictate the need for the search of adequate transport and technological solutions. The article deals with the main challenges und trends in connection with the results of the international and domestic shipping in 2020. With reference to the analysis of domestic and foreign experiences the article deals with the advantages of the modern modification of the concept of the “cargo and passenger” ship with horizontal loading that proved itself from the end of the 19th century. In the opinion of the authors the introduction of multifunctional ferry und transport logistical systems will promote the gradual integration of the river into the delivery process of high tarificatetd freights and return automobile transport in his usual segment of middle distance transportation in the season of peak traffic.

The method for the prediction of extreme vertical wave bending moments on a passenger ship based on the hindcast database along the shipping route is presented. Operability analysis is performed to identify sea states when the ship is not able to normally operate and which are likely to be avoided. Closed-form expressions are used for the calculation of transfer functions of ship motions and loads. Multiple operability criteria are used and compared to the corresponding limiting values. The most probable extreme wave bending moments for the short-term sea states at discrete locations along the shipping route are calculated, and annual maximum extreme values are determined. Gumbel probability distribution is then fitted to the annual extreme values, and wave bending moments corresponding to a return period of 20 years are determined for discrete locations. The system reliability approach is used to calculate combined extreme vertical wave bending moment along the shipping route. The method is employed on the example of a passenger ship sailing across the Adriatic Sea (Split, Croatia, to Ancona, Italy). The contribution of the study is the method for the extreme values of wave loads using the hindcast wave database and accounting for ship operational restrictions.

The article concerns the problem of evacuation from passenger ships. It is important because it has not yet been possible to eliminate all the hazards associated with sea travel. In this paper, a concept of a method allowing to determine the arrangement of evacuation routes, for which evacuation time would be minimal, was presented. The genetic algorithm method was used in the calculations, and an original method of coding the considered problem was proposed. Sample calculations were performed to verify the correctness of the proposed algorithm. The results of applying the developed method to calculate the evacuation time on a real passenger ship are presented.
