Abstract We investigate the different interpretations related to the metaphorical imprint of climate change in English and French media discourses. This cross-linguistic perspective is motivated by the particularities of both languages which have been assumed to promote different understandings of climate change-related concepts. We focus on the metaphor carbon footprint whose meaning can be compared to another climate change metaphor in English: fingerprint . These two source domains share a highly specific and concrete meaning interpreted from lexical constructions enabled by the English language. In French, however, such a specification cannot be interpreted from the meaning of the metaphor empreinte carbone ( carbon imprint ) which defines a similar concept. We rely on visual representations of these metaphorical expressions in English and French to discuss the characteristics associated with each source domain: we show that visual metaphors can contradict expectations emerging from the interpretations of verbal metaphors.

“Vaccine certification” requirements were first introduced in the United States in response to smallpox in the 1800s. Today, physicians routinely provide certification that students have received an array of vaccinations that are required in order to attend school or summer camp, or to participate in sports or other group activities. A similar concept -- recently labeled “Vaccine Passports” (“VPs”) -- has been suggested with respect to COVID-19 vaccination, requiring individuals to provide proof of vaccination in order to engage in certain activities, such as indoor dining or shopping, flying on an airplane, or attending school. However, requiring that Americans prove that they have been vaccinated in order to participate in such activities has generated fierce opposition. The success or failure of these initiatives likely rests on a better understanding of the breadth and depth of this opposition, and its basis. Is it simply that the term “vaccine passport” has been politicized? Or is the underlying concept viewed by Americans as problematic? Or, in the wake of a year of lockdowns and mask mandates, are Americans concerned about yet another government mandate? The purpose of this report is thus to explore two questions. First, is public resistance to vaccine passports mainly due to the politicization of the term itself, or is the public genuinely opposed to any sort of vaccine mandate? Second, do those who oppose vaccine passports object only to the government requiring them, or do they object to any institution, public or private, making them a requirement?

The majority of patents related to automotive safety systems are owned by a limited number of companies. Absorption and implementation of such innovations in large markets require solutions that would go beyond what is protected through exclusive means viz. patents. Taking learnings from the field of communication, wherein by implementing what is known as standard-essential patents, a horizontal deployment of a similar concept is required in other areas, most notably, automotive safety systems is necessitated. This study aims to explore the need for a practical approach to a broader technological, commercial, and social cause.

The capital market that is widely used by people is not in accordance with the provisions contained in sharia principles. Therefore, a capital market with sharia. Conventional capital markets and Islamic capital markets have a similar concept but differ in principles and have different types of contracts. This difference between conventional capital market principles and the principles contained in the Islamic capital market results in the need for regulations that specifically regulate the Islamic capital market. so it is necessary to update the Law No. 8 of 1995 concerning Capital Markets. Judging from the legal system, the Sharia Capital Market still has weaknesses related to the legal substance, legal structure and legal culture so that reconstruction of Islamic capital market regulations must be conducted. The method used in this writing is analytical descriptive and uses a normative juridical approach.

This research discusses about Fatwa regarding Siri Marriage or known as Unregistered Marriage. In the other countries, this phenomenon called ‘Urfi Marriage. This research comprised in normative category because analyzing documents and literatures related to Fatwa regarding Siri Marriage. Qualitative Description is used as an approach to compare between Indonesian Ulema Council or Majelis Ulama Indonesia (“MUI”) with other five Fatwa councils from different countries: (1) Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (“KSA”), (2) Egypt, (3) Jordan, (4) Kuwait, and (5) Libya. The results show that in substance and procedure, Siri or ’Urfi Marriage activities in five nations are indifferent. The distinction only occurs on the naming aspect. Indonesia and KSA have the same terminology which is Siri Marriage, whereas three other countries employ ‘Urfi Marriage expression. From legal perspective, those five nations have similar concept that, if the marriage complies with the Islamic basis and requisite, then it fulfills legitimate sharia condition for marriage in Islam. But, to accomplish rights in civil law, it needs to register the marriage officially in the country’s appointed institution.

In 1917, Hilbert Vernam patented a top-secret encryption scheme, which at first was called a one-time notepad and later a Vernam cipher. At the time that Vernam proposed this scheme, there was no evidence that it was completely secret, since, in fact, at that time yet there was no idea what the perfect secret of the cipher was. However, about 25 years later, Claude Shannon introduced the definition of perfect secrecy (perfect cipher) and demonstrated that the random gamming cipher reaches this level of security. Cryptographers believe that there are no effective attacks for attacks of random gamming. In particular, there are no effective attacks for the Vernam cipher. Objective: to justify the fallacy of this proposition to build effective attacks. Methods: analysis of the relationship between the cipher key and the received encrypted text. Results: an attack on the plaintext of a random gamming cipher based on a given encrypted text was developed. In addition, there was a suggestion for another attack on the plaintext contents based on the encrypted text. For all attacks, parameters of their complexity are calculated. These results are new. Previously, an attack on the random gamma code was unavailable. The results disprove the opinion that there are no attacks on this cipher.Practical relevance: firstly, it has become possible to carry out attacks on the random gamming code. Secondly, when using this cipher, it is necessary to strictly limit the length of the message.Discussion: the idea that there is an effective attack on a random gamming cipher arose in 2002, due to the possibility of introducing a similar concept, in which in a definition of the perfect cipher the plaintext is changed for a key. The first idea in creating attacks is that when the key is long its elements are repeated. The second idea is that attacks on two plaintexts are encrypted with one key. And the main idea was that it is necessary to improve the mathematical model of the Shannon code. Therein, when interpreting the concept of the perfect cipher, we should talk about the cipher model perfection. The publication place: in the Yandex search engine a query "Perfect ciphers" resulted in 22 million links, on a query "schemes perfectly secret" there were 43 million links. Yandex on the query "random gamming code" gave 13 million results.

A recently recycled tectonic hypothesis in which the Serbo-Macedonian Unit rifted off during Ladinian from the Dinarides is tested. The Triassic rifting, according to this concept, led to the opening and the formation of a northwestern branch of Neotethys (=Vardar Ocean). Similar concept explains the developments within the Inner Hellenide allochoton (Serbo-Macedonian Unit and Pelagonides). The testing of early Alpine configuration in Serbia shows, however, that the two crystalline basement units have significant paleogeographic variances. The study moreover includes the differences in Paleozoic metamorphic grades between two inliers, their exhumation times, etc. The investigated pre-Triassic paleogeographic and geodynamic variances unambiguously contradict any connection before and during Triassic (Ladinian). In this regard, by using the available field data, and the juxtaposed Late Paleozoic Variscan tectonometamorphic differences, the paper underscores the large differences in the (pre)Triassic plate configurations and paleogeography. The synthesis displays the two separate positions of these microplates situated along with the length of this segment of the Triassic Eurasian continental margin.

The argument of this article is based on the assumption that the Hungarian EU model and the imitative Polish EU vision are based on Euroscepticism, creating the concepts equally incompatible with Western standards of democracy and the EU mainstream views. The strong articulation of extreme opinions leads to the isolation, while in the light of liberal intergovernmentalism it is the Polish concept that undermines the relative position of that state in the EU system more than the Hungarian one. First, compared with Hungary, Poland has completely different interests based on a Russian threat and geographical location. Second, due to its size Poland could be a relatively strong player in the EU, while presentation of a radical concept weakens its role, making it impossible to act as intermediary, an honest broker or a group leader. On the contrary, the Hungarian model, based on a similar concept but applied to a small political actor, can strengthen the relatively marginal position of that state, being a beneficial way to achieve some goals in tactical games.

The concept of informal vector space is introduced in this paper. In informal vector space, the additive inverse element does not necessarily exist. The reason is that an element in informal vector space which subtracts itself cannot be a zero element. An informal vector space can also be endowed with a metric to define a so-called informal metric space. The completeness of informal metric space can be defined according to the similar concept of a Cauchy sequence. A new concept of fixed point and the related results are studied in informal complete metric space.
