Motion cueing algorithms (MCA) are often applied in the motion simulators. In this paper, a nonlinear optimal MCA, taking into account translational and rotational motions of a simulator within its physical limitation, is designed for the motion platform aiming to minimize human’s perception error in order to provide a high degree of fidelity. Indeed, the movement sensation center of most MCA is placed at the center of the upper platform, which may cause a certain error. Pilot’s station should be paid full attention to in the MCA. Apart from this, the scaling and limiting module plays an important role in optimizing the motion platform workspace and reducing false cues during motion reproduction. It should be used along within the washout filter to decrease the amplitude of the translational and rotational motion signals uniformly across all frequencies through the MCA. A nonlinear scaling method is designed to accurately duplicate motions with high realistic behavior and use the platform more efficiently without violating its physical limitations. The simulation experiment is verified in the longitudinal/pitch direction for motion simulator. The result implies that the proposed method can not only overcome the problem of the workspace limitations in the simulator motion reproduction and improve the realism of movement sensation, but also reduce the false cues to improve dynamic fidelity during the motion simulation process.

A quantitative mathematical model of neurons should not only include enough details to consider the dynamics of single neurons but also minimize the complexity of the model so that the model calculation is convenient. The two-dimensional Prescott model provides a good compromise between the authenticity and computational efficiency of a neuron. The dynamic characteristics of the Prescott model under external electrical stimulation are studied by combining analytical and numerical methods in this paper. Through the analysis of the equilibrium point distribution, the influence of model parameters and external stimulus on the dynamic characteristics is described. The occurrence conditions and the type of Hopf bifurcation in the Prescott model are analyzed, and the analytical determination formula of the Hopf bifurcation type in the neuron model is obtained. Washout filter control is used to change the Hopf bifurcation type, so that the subcritical Hopf bifurcation transforms to supercritical Hopf bifurcation, so as to realize the change of the dynamic characteristics of the model.

<abstract><p>The image denoising model based on anisotropic diffusion equation often appears the staircase effect while image denoising, and the traditional super-resolution reconstruction algorithm can not effectively suppress the noise in the image in the case of blur and serious noise. To tackle this problem, a novel model is proposed in this paper. Based on the original diffusion equation, we propose a new method for calculating the adaptive fidelity term and its coefficients, which is based on the relationship between the image gradient and the diffusion function. It is realized that the diffusion speed can be slowed down by adaptively changing the coefficient of the fidelity term, and it is proved mathematically that the proposed fractional adaptive fidelity term will not change the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the original model. At the same time, washout filter is introduced as the control item of the model, and a new model of image super-resolution reconstruction and image denoising is constructed. In the proposed model, the order of fractional differential will be determined adaptively by the local variance of the image. And we give the numerical calculation method of the new model in the frequency domain by the method of Fourier transform. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can better prevent the staircase effect and achieve better visual effect. And by introducing washout filter to act as the control of the model, the stability of the system can be improved and the system can converge to a stable state quickly.</p></abstract>

The use of flight simulators for pilot training and evaluations is common in the modern aeronautical sector. Whether for airplanes or helicopters, the military and airline companies use this feature to keep their crews operational, safety-oriented and resource-saving. This work presents a proposal for adjusting the washout filter parameters that allows the use of Stewart's platform in helicopter simulators. The identification of the filter parameters was carried out based on tests on an available commercial platform, certified by the company Moog, model MB-E-6DOF/24/1800KG, currently used in the SHEFE helicopter simulator of the Brazilian Army. The work dealt with the physiological aspects of the human vestibular system and its dynamics. Subsequently, the methods for choosing the filter model, and configuration parameters are presented. Three series of tests were carried on the commercial platform and in a real helicopter prepared with special flight test instrumentation. The tests were completed, and the motion platform filter adjustments were made to minimize errors between the movement cues perceived by the pilot in the aircraft and the flight simulator. The results of this work will be used as a basis for the development of a national movement platform for another flight simulator in the development phase.

Driving simulators are widely used for understanding human–machine interaction, driver behavior and in driver training. The effectiveness of simulators in this process depends largely on their ability to generate realistic motion cues. Though the conventional filter-based motion-cueing strategies have provided reasonable results, these methods suffer from poor workspace management. To address this issue, linear MPC-based strategies have been applied in the past. However, since the kinematics of the motion platform itself is nonlinear and the required motion varies with the driving conditions, this approach tends to produce sub-optimal results. This paper presents a nonlinear MPC-based algorithm which incorporates the nonlinear kinematics of the Stewart platform within the MPC algorithm in order to increase the cueing fidelity and use maximum workspace. Furthermore, adaptive weights-based tuning is used to smooth the movement of the platform towards its physical limits. Full-track simulations were carried out and performance indicators were defined to objectively compare the response of the proposed algorithm with classical washout filter and linear MPC-based algorithms. The results indicate a better reference tracking with lower root mean square error and higher shape correlation for the proposed algorithm. Lastly, the effect of the adaptive weights-based tuning was also observed in the form of smoother actuator movements and better workspace use.
