Purpose This paper aims to investigate possibility of statistical detection of market completeness for continuous time diffusion stock market models. Design/methodology/approach The paper uses theory of forecasting to find criteria of predictability of market parameters such as volatilities and the appreciation rates. Findings It is known that the market completeness is not a robust property: small random deviations of the coefficients convert a complete market model into an incomplete one. The paper shows that market incompleteness is also non-robust: for any incomplete market from a wide class of models, there exists a complete market model with arbitrarily close paths of the stock prices and the market parameters. Originality/value The paper results lead to a counterintuitive conclusion that the incomplete markets are indistinguishable in the terms of the market statistics.

The splanchnic-chromaffin cell synapse is the site at which stimulus-secretion coupling in the adrenal medulla is regulated. However, since the discovery that acetylcholine underlies chemical signaling at this synapse, attention has been disproportionately placed on postsynaptic chromaffin cell function. As a result, the determinants of Ca2+-sensing and exocytosis from splanchnic nerves remain poorly understood. This study shows, for the first time, that a ubiquitous Ca2+-binding protein, synaptotagmin-7 (Syt7) is expressed within the neurons that innervate the adrenal medulla. In synapses that lack Syt7, evoked excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSCs) are smaller in amplitude and decay with more rapid kinetics than wild-type synapses stimulated in an identical manner. EPSCs in Syt7-deficient adrenal slices also fail to facilitate, which is ordinarily a robust property of these synapses. These data are the first to implicate a role for Syt7 in regulating short-term synaptic plasticity in the peripheral nervous system.

The organometal halide perovskite (OHP) materials have attracted much attention throughout the world due to their superb optoelectronic properties. Tremendous progress has been made in the OHP based solar cells with increased efficiency from 3.8% to 24.2% within the last decade, benefiting from efforts in the photovoltaic field. However, all the OHP solar cells with highest efficient are based on a normal mesoporous structure with TiO2 at the bottom, which needs high temperature process. The inverted planar structure OHP solar cells based on PEDOT:PSS suffer from low efficiency (lower than 15%) and inferior stability due to degradation of PEDOT:PSS in ambient air. Herein, we employed sol–gel method to fabricate a NiOx nano film as the hole transporting layer for inverted OHP solar cells. The device performance based on PEDOT:PSS and NiOx were systematically investigated. It was found that the perovskite films on NiOx film had larger grain size and thus lower defects) density. The Capacitance–Voltage measurement indicated that the device based on NiOx exhibited larger built-in potential, which significantly enhanced the open-circuit potential of the OHP solar cells. Furthermore, the solar cell based on NiOx nano film exhibited excellent stability compared with the PEDOT:PSS based device, due to robust property of NiOx in ambient air.

The goal of this chapter is to design tools for reliably identifying instances of exempt anaphors. In particular, the inanimacy-based strategy distinguishes between plain and exempt anaphors independently of the definition of Condition A: since inanimates cannot be logophoric, an anaphor occurring in a configuration disallowing an inanimate anaphor is necessarily exempt. This strategy allows us to re-examine the distributional properties of exempt anaphors: unlike plain anaphors, they need not be locally or exhaustively bound and can give rise to strict readings; complementarity with pronouns, however, is not a robust property of anaphors. Furthermore, potential confounds are identified, which may obscure the logophoric conditions on exempt anaphors. First, exempt anaphors may be unacceptable for reasons independent of logophoricity: strong anaphors compete with weak elements; anaphors are unacceptable in positions construed with agreement. Second, other elements like intensifiers, which are not subject to logophoric conditions, may be mistaken for exempt anaphors.

The thermal mixing robust controlling ideas by employing slider controlling method employed in this work. It is envisioned for designing a Slider Controlling Mode for achieving reference temp. of mixer in existence of unsettling noises. The process performance is traced by MATLAB environment simulation. The constructed controlling model ensures that the stability and convergence requirement in existence of conflicts & later demonstrates its robust property. The result of offered process compared with classical PID controlling process that illustrates the process is successful and simple for a wide-ranging span of functioning conditions, structure variabilities & nonlinear dynamics of the model.

Abstract Many compelling examples have recently been provided in which people can achieve impressive epistemic success, e.g. draw highly accurate inferences, by using simple heuristics and very little information. This is possible by taking advantage of the features of the environment. The examples suggest an easy and appealing naturalization of rationality: on the one hand, people clearly can apply simple heuristics, and on the other hand, they intuitively ought do so when this brings them high accuracy at little cost.. The ‘ought-can’ principle is satisfied, and rationality is meaningfully normative. We show, however, that this naturalization program is endangered by a computational wrinkle in the adaptation process taken to be responsible for this heuristics-based (‘ecological’) rationality: for the adaptation process to guarantee even minimal rationality, it requires astronomical computational resources, making the problem intractable. We consider various plausible auxiliary assumptions in attempt to remove this obstacle, and show that they do not succeed; intractability is a robust property of adaptation. We discuss the implications of our findings for the project of naturalizing rationality.
