Since the COVID-19 outbreak had crossed the globe and wreaking havoc on people’s life and health, almost all educational institutions were closed down temporarily and online learning has replaced previously conducted conventional teaching and learning in the classroom. However, the main concern here is to what extent the students are ready for this drastic change in their learning endeavors. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the readiness levels of online learning among foreign language students in selected higher learning institutions in Malaysia. Based on the results, it is reported that most Foreign Language students in Malaysia were ready for online learning with the highest score in the “computer and Internet self-efficacy” dimension but demonstrated the lowest score in terms of the “learners' control” dimension. The results further indicated that the students were very confident in their ability to search and gather information for online learning using search engines like Google and Yahoo. On the contrary, this group of students opined that they had less control in managing their online learning class as they were easily distracted by other online activities like messaging, gaming, and browsing the Internet.

Abstract In the 21st century, the attainment of knowledge and education goes far beyond the boundaries of educational institutions. Learning takes place in many diversified forms, be it in form of location or time or course content. This makes it easy to facilitate learning across the globe with ease so that the learners can pursue what they wish to. Among these various diversified and facilitated forms of learning, the most adopted and acceptable way of promoting academics in reputed educational setup undoubtedly is online learning. The concept of online learning has been implemented in all educational sectors throughout the globe due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. The present action research aimed at examining the attitudes of second year Prospective teachers who are working as well as those who are not working towards online learning during the prevailing pandemic in Mumbai. A questionnaire with 5-point Likert scale was adopted for data collection from a sample of 54 prospective teachers. Findings of the study reveal the working prospective teachers have a higher attitude towards adopting online learning as teaching-learning pedagogy for B.Ed. teachers as compared to non-working Prospective teachers. Also, working Prospective teachers had a higher attitude towards Computer/Internet self-efficacy, Self-directed learning and Online communication self-efficacy dimension of online learning when compared with non-working Prospective teachers. Not-Working B.Ed. Teachers had a higher attitude towards the Learner Control dimension of online learning, whereas both working and non-working Prospective teachers had a similar attitude towards Motivation for learning (in an online context) dimension of online learning. Policy makers should include online learning topics in the B.Ed. curriculum not just theoretically but also practically in order to help learners develop a positive attitude towards adoption of online learning not just for learning but also for teaching. Also, the government and educational institutes need to organize workshops and seminars for teachers and student-teachers in order to equip them with knowledge and application of computers in the academic process which is the need of the hour during the prevailing pandemic.

This study assessed the health perceptions of 333 Korean adolescents during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic via an online questionnaire administered in October 2020, which queried the perceived importance and actual performance of health behaviors. The health perception scales used in the survey consists of the six dimensions of mental health, disease, physical activity, sleep, diet, and sanitary health. The data were primarily analyzed using paired sample t-test for analysis of difference and importance-performance analysis (IPA). The IPA results were presented in four quadrants—“keep up the good work,” “concentrate here,” “low priority,” and “possible overkill.” The results indicated that first, there was a positive relationship between the importance and performance of all the subdimensions of health perception. Second, sanitary healthcare was rated as being of the greatest importance and was performed most, while physical activity management was rated least important and performed least. Third, statistically significant differences were found between importance and performance for all items of mental health, disease, physical activity, sleep, and diet dimensions, and some differences were found for items assessing the hygiene control dimension. Fourth, in the two-dimensional IPA model, “sanitary health” and “disease” are in Quadrant I (keep up the good work); “mental health,” in Quadrant II (concentrate here); and “physical activity,” “sleep,” and “diet,” in Quadrant III (low priority). No components of healthcare were in Quadrant IV (possible overkill). Based on these results, we emphasize the importance of adolescent health education and discuss solutions to enhance the performance of healthcare activities.

Entrepreneurial Self Efficacy (ESE) has gained immense importance in the past few years in the field of entrepreneurship. The focus of this study is to test the effect of each of the five dimensions of ESE and understand their importance in connection with firms’ performance. This study was carried out among small businesses entrepreneurs in Pakistan and a valid sample of 353 entrepreneurs was selected for this purpose. A survey technique was used for data collection and AMOS was used for data analysis. In line with expectation, the analysis concluded a significant positive relationship between ESE dimensions and performance of small businesses. It was also concluded that the Risk dimension of ESE contributes majorly in the improvement of firms’ performance whereas the financial control dimension of ESE contribution was least. It is also suggested that all five dimensions of ESE are important to achieve desirable performance outcomes.

By now, it is generally accepted that the two key dimensions of international business (IB) strategy are location and control. Multinational enterprises (MNEs) must therefore decide where to locate their international operations and how to control their activities there. Virtually every research question associated with IB strategy is related to one or both of these dimensions. This chapter will focus on the location dimension, while recognizing that the control dimension is its ever-present complement. Historically, MNEs expanded into international locations in order to seek local, natural resources unavailable in their home countries. However, at present, it is the MNEs’ search for knowledge resources that dominates their location strategies. Over the last decade, the rise of global value chains (GVCs) has become one of the primary factors motivating scholars to integrate insights from IB and economic geography to develop a more holistic view of the location dimension of MNE strategy. We discuss the evolution of key intellectual ideas in the area of IB location strategies to then propose a future research agenda.

This study aims to investigate the relationship between pre-service form, elementary mathematics and elementary science teacher’s STEM awareness and questioning skills. In addition to this aim, whether differences existed or not was also investigated in terms of the gender, class level and department variables. A total of 195 pre-service teachers participated in the study from the 3rd and 4thyears in the fall semester of the academic year of 2019-2020. The STEM Awareness and Questioning Skills Scales were used in this correlation study. Non-parametric tests were used in data analysis. For the STEM awareness positive opinion dimension, statistically significant differences were found in favour of the 4thyear participants. For the questioning skills knowledge control dimension, a statistically significant difference was found according to the gender in favour of the male participants. A medium-level positive relationship was found between the STEM awareness positive opinion dimension and the questioning skills dimensions, while a low-level relationship was found between the negative opinions and questioning skills dimensions.

This paper investigates the network coordination, self-regulation mode, and autonomous control spatial planning of microgrid. To do this, the cooperative self-discipline model of multi-microgrid intelligent distribution network is constructed. Based on combing the power control of multi-microgrid with high penetration situation, the concept and characteristics of distribution network and self-regulation mode are defined according to the new requirements, and the basic framework and decision-making process of self-regulation mode are put forward. Further, the formulation method of autonomous spatial planning for multi-micronetworks is described. By constructing cooperative self-discipline space scheme and its reward and punishment mechanism, the network operation behavior is restrained and guided, and the control dimension of the distribution network is reduced. Finally, a typical case is given to illustrate the effectiveness of cooperative self-discipline supervision mode in reducing the space-time dimension of distribution network supervision.
