This paper presents the transmission cross-section (TCS) of a dual plate with narrow small slots when a plane wave is incident from the left half-space. Numerical results show that the TCS depends mainly on the plate spacing for a specified frequency. The TCS fluctuates with the plate spacing; the fluctuation period is approximately 0.5λ. When the plate spacing is larger than 0.5λ, the TCS reduces to 90% in the single plate case, and TCS enhancement is extremely difficult. However, when the plate spacing is less than 0.5λ, the TCS decreases gradually to approximately 36% in the single plate case, and TCS enhancement can be realized using two parallel wires. The analysis results show that resonance transmission is effectively obtained by the wires connected on the slots for a plate spacing within 0.5λ. Experimental measurements are presented to validate the theory.

Tibial plateau fractures accounts for about 1% of injuries. Various mechanisms have been described, resulting in milder form to serious injuries depending upon force of impact. High velocity injuries resulted from valgus or varus impacted forces combined with axial loading such as in Schatzker type 6. The ideal method of treatment for these fractures is always a matter of debate. As all intra-articular fractures necessitate anatomic reduction of the articular surface, restoration of axial alignment, and stable fixation, which can be achieved very well by open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) with dual plating. To study the functional and radiological outcome of Tibial plateau fractures treated surgically with dual plate osteosynthesis. 15 patients in the age group 18-60 were included. Rasmussens criteria was used to assess the functional and radiological outcomes with follow up period of 1 year prospectively. The outcome assessment using Rasmussens score concluded good results. The average duration for union was 6 months. ROM achieved in these patients were to be at least 124 degrees. The infection rate in this study was accounted as 13.3%. Open reduction and internal fixation of tibial plateau fractures, by dual plating has good functional and radiological outcome. This is an effective method of treatment even with moderate soft tissue injury if meticulous surgical technique, appropriate soft tissue handling and adequate healing period given. All these have shown to decrease the postoperative complications such as infection.

Traditional method of controlling fungi and use of chemical pesticides, which have already been proved harmful to the environment. Hence is a potential alternative in biological control using chitinase enzyme. Thus, the necessity to achieve large scale, cost effective production of active preparations of this biopesticides has been increased. Serratia marcescens is a Gram-negative bacilli isolated from soil and identified using basic biochemical test and 16s rRNA sequencing and accession number KX002030 was obtained, that produces chitinase. This enzyme will be optimized for maximum production at various factors and media components. The extracted and partially purified enzyme (ammonium sulphate and dialysis) will be used in the analysis of for the effect of cell wall destruction of fungi pathogens. Biocontrol potential of Chitinase, dual plate assay, hyphal fragmentation test were analyzed against Alternaria alternata.

Background: Dual-plating osteosynthesis is the standard treatment for Orthopedic Trauma Association (OTA)-type 13-C distal humerus fractures. However, optimal plate position is debated. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate dual-plate positioning following intra-articular distal humerus fracture repair by comparing outcomes between patients plated in parallel and those plated orthogonally following open-reduction, internal-fixation (ORIF) of intra-articular distal humerus fractures. Methods: All OTA-type 13-C intra-articular distal humerus fractures treated operatively at our institution over a 10-year period were reviewed. Clinical outcomes and complications were compared between those plated in parallel and those plated orthogonally. Data were analyzed using independent-samples t-tests, Mann-Whitney U tests, chi-square tests, and Fisher’s exact tests. Results: A total of 69 patients met inclusion criteria. Mean follow-up among this cohort was 19.3 months; 45 (64.8%) patients had orthogonal dual plating, and 24 (35.2%) had parallel plating. Groups did not differ with respect to demographics or duration of follow-up. Clinically, there were no significant differences in time to union, elbow arc of motion at any time point, or patient Mayo Elbow Performance Index (MEPI) scores at final follow-up. Furthermore, there were no differences in complications. Conclusion: Parallel and orthogonal plating following ORIF of distal humerus fractures with modern, contoured locking compression plates had similar outcomes in this study. This study represents the largest comparative series in the literature at the time of its writing. Both techniques may be considered when deciding on dual-plating technique for treating intra-articular distal humerus fractures.
