Abstract Looking at population’s behavior by taking samples is quite uncertain due to its big and dynamic structure and unimaginable variability. All quantitative sampling approaches aim to draw representative sample from the population so that the results of the studying samples can then be generalized back to the population. The probability of detecting a true effect of a study largely depends on the sample size and if taking small samples will give lowers statistical power, thus having higher risk of missing a meaningful underlying difference. There have lot of online sample size calculators which are based on population size, allele frequency which tell us about the number of samples required for the study but none will help in setting a threshold for the availability of the sample from a single hospital in a particular period. This study aims to provide an efficient calculation method for setting a threshold for the availability of samples during a specific period of a research study which is an important question to be answered during the research study design. So we have designed a spreadsheet-based sample availability calculator tool implemented in MS-Excel 2007.

Abstract Adults with disabilities are more likely to be excluded from digital health research compared to those without. In this symposium, we will describe how user experience (UX) research can be used to successfully develop digital health tools that are both usable and acceptable by older adults with physical disabilities. Our framework and methodology are designed to provide older adults, age 60+ with hearing or visual impairments, the capability to use and adapt digital health tools (including tools that run on mobile devices like smart phones and tablets). Our approach includes one-on-one sessions to evaluate the ease of use and usefulness of digital health for older adults, including 6 blind, 6 deaf, 6 low vision, 6 hard of hearing. This approach allows us to increase the scope of the research participants and, eventually, end users to include adults with disabilities that we may not normally include in research study design.

There is a link between integrative medicine (IM) and prospective research on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). IM is the future direction of CAM and research is needed to support clinical practice. Meaning of IM, proposed models of IM, and existing research on IM will be presented. Prospective research on CAM will cover methodologies presenting randomised controlled trials, harms studies of CAM in kidney disease, and a gap of CAM research. Study design and outcome measures are current challenges in CAM/IM research. Several networks of CAM research worldwide are still working on them and have proposed possible alternative approaches, such as pragmatic clinical trials and cohort multiple randomised controlled trials. These approaches would solve some limitations of randomised controlled trials in CAM research.

Universal precaution is important in remembered a lot of diseases which is dangerous such as HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B virus. One of universal precaution’s branch is using personal protective equipment (PPE) which is being the object of the research. Descriptive research with a survey research study design, located in Wates Hospital, Kulonprogo. The Subjects were 57 nurses employed on Hospitalization Service of Wates Hospital who’s gotten by proportional sampling method. Data analysis was conducted by distributing the frequencies and percents which categorizing the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The result is the use of The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on Hospitalization Service in Wates Hospital, Kulonprogo by most of the nurse (58%) are in quite a well category. Many factors influenced it, such as stock of PPE, motivation, leadership, age, and reward. The recommendation is the head of hospitalizations should be more intensively monitoring the member (nurses) in using PPE by checklist sheet.
