The distinction between the good and the wicked is common in wisdom literature. Although the distinction can be viewed as ubiquitous, I would like to problematize it by considering the literary device deployed in constructing the archetypes of the good and the wicked. Specifically, I analyze the depiction of the wicked in chapters 1–6 in Wisdom of Solomon and argue that the construction of the wicked in Wisdom is indispensable in understanding how the righteous obtain wisdom through divine protection and acceptance of divine provision. First, I offer a close reading of the text, mainly Chapters 1–6, and parse out the ways of depicting the wicked in Wisdom of Solomon. In particular, I highlight the “collectivity” of the crowd, as opposed to a “single” righteous individual or group. Social theories of the crowd are critical to my formulation of the characteristics of the wicked. Second, I examine the relationship between the wicked and the righteous, and propose the idea of “a mirror effect” in these antithetical depictions. The mirror effect exhibits didactic values, as it instructs one to pursue righteousness and shun from evil. Third, I focus on the interaction between God, the righteous, and the wicked and suggest that divine intervention in helping the righteous stand firm among the wicked manifests both divine justice and divine mercy.

This article aims to explain that the mine in New Caledonia is for the Kanaks a “grassroots experience” of a decolonization initiated at the same time in institutions since about thirty years. It reminds the steps and the shapes of nickel conquest by independentists, which is the main economic resource of the archipelago. It highlights that the control of a multinational – SMSP – has profoundly reconfigured the mining sector, imposing new giant metallurgical firms against local export of ore firms. Based on contemporary mining landscape description, it examines as a mirror effect the singular decolonization situation going on in this ‘Overseas Country’ at the time of self-determination referendums closing the emancipation process acted in the “Nouméa agreement” of 1998.

Purpose This paper aims to contribute to prior gender-based conceptual models within organisational and management studies by incorporating an additional lens of disability. The authors present a context specific and embodied based model that we call the “two-way mirror effect” which accounts for the environmental and discursive effects of gender and disability within the workplace. Design/methodology/approach The paper reviews existing literature on gender, disability and employment and uses that literature to construct and support the concept of a two-way mirror effect. Findings By drawing on organisation and management-based studies, the authors have shown how previous models do not currently account for the experiences of disabled women within the workplace. Disabled workers, and especially disabled women face a myriad of unique barriers, including masculine and able-bodied employment practices (e.g. performative expectations) and exclusionary physical spaces (e.g. access, location to required facilities), that exclude them from full employment participation. Practical implications The review of existing literature and conceptual models reveal the gaps in research that academics and practitioners can build upon and the paper identifies the dominant norms that are embedded within organisational practices, which can be challenged to promote inclusion and equality. Originality/value The authors present a new intersectional-based conceptual model to fill a gap in organisational and management-based studies that accounts for the unique employment experiences of disabled employees, specifically disabled women.

The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of translation Garcia Lorca’s verses from the series “Canciones para niños”. The author suggests to give up on understanding the work of the Spanish poet as tragic and pay attention on the phenomenon of “bright joy” in his works. The world of childhood is a core uniting many poems. “Canciones para niños” is distinguished by duality both at the level of structure and content, which is achieved by combining folklore motifs from the childhood with the adult symbolism of traditional images for Garcia Lorca. It should be noted that the "cold" color scheme, metal, monochrome are dominant: in this way the poet creates the mirror effect between the world of childhood and the world of adulthood. Light, weightless tunes are intended for children, and the cold world behind the looking glass is made for adults, for the “generation of 27” with whom Garcia Lorca determined the creative trajectories of the new era. А translator faces a difficult task: to convey the ambivalence of images, preserving the simplicity and playful laconicism of the form for young readers, revealing the deep tragedy of the disappointments of growing up for their parents.
