Urban dynamics in recent years show a tendency that cannot be ignored in terms of the impacts that they induce, with regard to many companies, especially big companies, that are settled in the downtown districts of the main cities, where economic spaces are blended with urban spaces. This study, therefore, aims to investigate the sustainability of cities by using the specific perspective of their relationship with the companies’ urban settlements. Some questions in the present work are discussed: What advantages derive from the firms’ settlements in downtown areas? What is the impact on urban geographies? What role does urban policy play in this process? How do cities perceive this large business settlement? To answer to these questions, a model of dynamic equilibrium, referred to as the public–private relationship, is provided. The analysis starts from the context of the city as a commercial space, then identifies the determinants of the establishment of businesses in the city centers and the mediating function of politics in this urban morphogenesis. Case studies from the USA on large companies returning to urban centers complete the analysis.

Motivated by the growth of the commercial space economy and renewed focus on the disaggregation of military space systems, this work develops a method for conceptual design of federated satellite systems as a collaborative system-of-systems (SoS). Objectives seek to improve the likelihood of successful SoS formation and pursue constituent system utility robustness. The proposed metaheuristic optimization tradespace exploration method accounts for technical and economic design variables and multi-decision maker strategy dynamics. Constituent system designs are ranked on their simulated net present value. A game-theoretic measure of risk dominance is used in concert with net present value to assess robustness and utility of candidate SoS designs. The method is validated with a notional application case that assesses potential collaboration between Earth observing and telecommunications systems. Results demonstrate a fundamental trade between system efficiency and robustness and highlight the importance of accounting for strategy dynamics when designing systems for collaboration.

Commercial and retail spaces are a place where business or commercial activities are carried out. Space, in the context of commercial and promotional activities, can also be a branding medium for products and services that become commercial commodities. As a branding medium, it is very important that space is designed with the additional objective to strengthen the brand image, in addition to the main objective of optimizing commercial activities in it. Tiara handicraft is one shop that wants to embody interior branding through design and create a unique shopping environment as part of their marketing strategy. This study aims to determine how the interior space design of the Tiara Handicraft shop works as a medium for interior branding. The learning methods is a systemic and organized process carried out by lecturers in delivering material to students. There are plenty learning methods that are used in a study process, one of which is Service Learning. Service Learning is a form of constructive learning method that connects between material and theory obtained in the classroom to apply it into a concrete and useful actions for the surrounding community. Creative and innovative idea is needed in commercial space interior design. This is very appropriate with the purpose of Service Learning, where the highs and lows of learning outcomes can be influenced by internal and external factors. Keywords: Service Learning Methods, Interior Design, Commercial Space
