The dynamics of infection of anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus Linnaeus, 1758 with nematode parasite Hysterothylacium aduncum Rudolphi, 1802 in the Sea of Azov during the summer seasons of 2015 and 2017-2020 and autumn seasons of 2017-2020 is analyzed. To specify the scheme of infestation, the division of nematodes into living and degenerating ones was used. The degenerating specimens were attributed to three stages of destruction. The infection rate was estimated by using of the common parasitological indices (prevalence of infection, intensity values, abundance of larvae). Statistical analysis of data obtained in the process of the research was conducted using Spearman’s rank correlation.

Parasites of spawning pacific herring (Clupea pallasii Valenciennes in Cuvier et Valenciennes, 1947) from the Taui population are explored on the samples caught on two spawning grounds located in the Ola lagoon and Amakhton Bay (Tauiskaya Guba Bay, Okhotsk Sea), and 17 species of helminthes are found, including 6 trematodes, 5 cestodes, 4 nematodes, and 2 acanthocephalans. Some differences in species composition of helminthes and their infestation were found between these estuarine and marine spawning grounds. In the Ola lagoon, 16 species of helminthes were identified, including 5 species of cestodes, whereas only 13 species of helminthes, including 3 species of cestodes, were found in the Amakhton Bay. The Taui population of herring is distinguished from the Okhotsk and Gizhiga-Kamchatka populations by presence of nematodes Hysterothylacium aduncum, l, and Ascorophis pacificus with rather high rates of invasion (occurence = 52.9 %; mean abundance = 4.16) and trematode Bucephaloides spp. On the other hand, the herring from the Taui population has common dangerous parasites with other populations in the Okhotsk Sea, as trematode Brachyphallus crenatus and nematode Anisakis spp. (larvae), with high degree of infestation.

Summary A total of 508 fish specimens belonging to 19 species collected in the coast of Şile region of the Black sea were examined to detect the presence of endohelminths. Of this, 357 (70.27%) were found to be infected with parasites. 15 distinct helminths species were recovered including four species of nematodes, seven digenean species, one species of cestodes and three species of acanthocephalans. It was also determined that the species of nematode Hysterothylacium aduncum was the most common parasite and the most diverse endohelminth fauna was found in Gobius niger and Solea vulgaris, with five species. Furthermore, it should be noted that Capillaria gracilis is reported for the first time from the Turkish coasts. The infection rates, hosts, and parasites are listed in this paper.

In this study 60 specimens of Pontic were caught from lower Dniester, Stefan Voda district, Olănesti. As a result of the parasitological study of Pontic shad, three species of helminths were detected: Pronoprymna ventricosa (Rudolphi, 1819) Poche, 1926, Lecithasther confusus Odhner, 1905), Hysterothylacium aduncum (Rudolphi, 1802). The degree of infestation with these species was different. The most abundant species was Hysterothylacium aduncum with an extensivity of invasion of 85% and intensivity of invasion 1 – 80 parasites per fish, followed by Pronoprymna ventricosa (EI-20%, II-2-18 ex.) and Lecythaster confusus (EI-7,8%, II-1-12 ex.).

(Apophallus donicus, Cryptocotyle concava, C. lingua, Hysterothylacium aduncum, Eustrongylides excisus).

Five specimens of Xiphias gladius Linnaeus, 1758 were sampled from the eastern coast of Algeria and examined for their metazoan parasites. Pathological effects of the collected parasites were examined for the whole body of X. gladius. Four metazoan parasites species were collected: two monogeneans (Tristoma coccineum Cuvier, 1817; T. integrum Diesing, 1850), one copepod (Pennella instructa (Wilson, 1917)) and one parasitic nematode (Hysterothylacium aduncum (Rudolphi, 1802)). We report here for the first time a symbiotic species, Conchoderma virgatum Spengler, 1789 (Cirripedia) fixed on P. instructa. Collected monogenean and the copepod species are newly recorded for Algerian coast. Xiphias gladius is a new host for H. aduncum in the studied region. All examined specimens were infected (P = 100 %). The collected copepod parasite, P. instructa (P = 60 %) induces serious pathological effects to its host (necrosis and hemorrhage particularly). Histological sections showed that this copepod causes skin lesions, deteriorations on the dermal and muscle tissue.
