The evolution of the SARS-CoV-2 Virus in recent months in the world and especially in Mexico has also created changes in the patient’s treatment and their laboratory studies, as is the case of patients admitted to the CECCS in Salamanca, Guanajuato, in which after months of caring for COVID-19 patients, new relevant laboratory studies were added (Ferritin and D-Dimer), therefore updates were made in statistical analyzes, and day-to-day behavior. The study is based on updating and cleaning the database, taking a sample of more patients with COVID-19, statistical analysis including admission tables, Body Mass Index, Variance, Normalization, relationship between the first day and the last day of patients who died and lived. The main idea of the work is to learn with more detail those laboratories that contain information to study in the future if there is a relationship between any medication supplied with the improvement or aggravation of the patient.

Remote sensing imaging datasets for classification generally present high levels of imbalance between classes of interest. This work presented a study of a set of performance evaluation metrics for an imbalance dataset. In this work, a support vector machine (SVM) was used to perform the classification of seven classes of interest in a popular dataset called Salinas-A. The performance evaluation of the classifier was performed using two types of metrics: 1) Metrics for multi-class classification, and 2) Metrics based on the binary confusion matrix. In the results, a comparison of the scores of each metric is developed, some being more optimistic than others due to the bias that they present given the imbalance. In addition, our case study helps to conclude that the Matthews correlation coefficient (MCC) presents the lowest bias in imbalanced cases and is regarded to be robust metric. These results can be extended to any imbalanced dataset taking into account the equations developed by Luque.

The increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Mexico has caused an important effort in the analysis of the virus, due to the above, a statistical study of laboratory data of 109 patients from the State Center for Critical Care of Salamanca (CECCS) with or without COVID-19, whose purpose is to analyze in more detail the disease and the reactions in patients. First, a classification was made in men and women, then positive, negative, healthy and deceased patients. It is important to mention that a data cleaning was carried out, in addition to information filling using the mean of the laboratory values, then the clinical data were normalized from 0 to 1, to obtain the BMI of the patients, box plots and graphs days to days of hospitalization with a sample of patients.

One of the main disease caused by the COVID-19 in the humans is the pneumonia. This disease mainly attacks the lungs and one of the effective methods for diagnosis is through X-ray chest analysis. Due this in this work a methodology that allow the segmentation and analysis of regions that belong to the lungs in images of X-ray chest is presented. This methodology is based mainly in the implementation of some digital image processing techniques such as: contrast enhancement, segmentation, binarization and the application of morphological operations as the erosion and dilatation.

One of the parameters considered in the design of transmission lines is the distribution of its generated electric field. The following article presents a reference methodology that allows obtaining the electric field on the right-of-way of a High Voltage Alternating Current (HVAC) overhead transmission line, the methodology is developed based on the Load Simulation Method (MSC) and the Image Method. The results obtained present a difference of less than 2%. In this way a case study of a 230 kV HVAC double circuit transmission line presented, an optimization of the phases of the transmission line circuits is carried out to determine the most efficient configuration for obtaining the electric field density. The results obtained allow a configuration of n circuits, admitting the different nominal voltages of the HVAC lines.

In the present work, a power factor (PF) calculation tool for single-phase electric networks is shown. This tool is made in Matlab and Simulink; it contains several useful functions such as the condenser code to achieve the desired result, from the measured value to the unit. It is also possible to visualize the voltage and current phase shift when the system is in the compensation system and its decrease as the PF approaches the unit. On the other hand, it is worth noting the decrease in current by the increase of the PF or compensation. All benefits can be seen graphically for a better understanding of possible compensation solutions.

The objective of this project is to reduce the downtime of a machine that performs the pleating of materials in a company dedicated to the manufacture of automotive parts. The development of this project aims to increase the availability of the machine and contribute to the use of material and humnan resources, achieving an increase in production to ensure permanence and competitiveness in the Market. Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) will be the methodology used to achieve the goal. The implementation of this methodology contributes to the updating of maintenance programs to achieve an increase of the MTBF indicator (Average Time Between Failures) and the decrease of the MTTR (Mean Time to Repair). The application of maintenance methodologies that exist today plays an important role within the industrial sector when it is necessary to meet the goals set by companies to meet the needs of customers.

The present work proposes an application of automata’s language and control systems in discrete events theory in a prototype of material handling system to ensure the continuity in the sequence that a transferred piece will have to execute between two points of a productive process. Also guaranteeing the synchronization of its active elements, in this case, a robot in angular configuration and a conveyor belt, for the fulfillment of its specific task without errors. We describe the development of the prototype for testing, the programming of the digital process controllers based on the theoretical methodology suggested, and finally, the integration of a graphical monitoring and control interface that allows the visualization of the system state to the user. The results suggest the adequate performance of the developed algorithms, the graphical interface and, in general, of the active elements that make up the material handling system.

At present, the polymer industry has gained increasing importance due to the versatility of its properties, as well as the impact they have on the environment. The present investigation provides the determination of optimal operating conditions for the polymerization of styrene and vinyl propionate in a Batch reactor, as well as the copolymerization of styrene with propionate monomers by the process of emulsion via free radicals, allowing to observe the variations with respect to Reaction yields and molecular weights. Another important factor is the activation of the initiator so that the polymerization process begins within each of the micelles. Likewise, it was found that, in the copolymerizations, there are considerable variations with respect to reaction yields and molecular weights as the concentrations are modified. In addition, it was found that there are higher yields in styrene polymerizations per solution than emulsion.
