The presented story, which the reader and the reader will find in the text (when I am silent), comes from interviews collected during my research in the Netherlands in 2013. The research problem I chose at that time – the issue of the identity of Tamils from Sri Lanka in the Netherlands – I decided to investigate using a modified version of the biographical method, which is increasingly used in sociological research. Such a model of analysis is common today also in studies on migration processes, and especially in studies on the problem of refugee. Using this method, in the analytical part, I present the refugee life cycle based on the schema of the rituals of passage by Arnold van Gennep. Therefore, I use a model drawn from anthropological research, namely the pattern of individuals going through certain stages in their development and in the process of social functioning. After the first part, where I outline the research methodology and the main theoretical assumptions, I provide a first-person narrative of one of the people who left Sri Lanka, and her life was inextricably intertwined with the local nearly 30-year civil war.

Malgorzata Michel, PhD at Jagiellonian University works at the Institute of Education. Her research focuses mainly on local prevention and rehabilitation systems, studying activity of the „street children” afiliating with youth gang activity and deviant hooligan groups in the context of urban studies. The presented text is the outcome of taking part in Mikolaj Grynberg’s workshops focusing on writing about city memory and personal stories in years 2019-2020. Malgorzata Michel combines being a qualitative researcher set in ethnomethodology and writing skills achieved on later mentioned workshops. Her text is an outcome of a process starting with and interview with a teenage hooligan, ex street gang member. Finally, the author showcases a way to present qualitative data in form of a reportage.

The aim of the article is to present the theoretical assumptions of the phenomenon that can be described as a “social poster”. In the first part of the work, I describe the origins, sources and historical context of the creation and functioning of the so-called Polish School of Posters. It is a school which, at the turn of several decades of the last century, built the significance of the poster, not only as an artistic work (with a clearly visible aesthetic function), but also as a product with a strong social impact. The second part of the text is definitely more personal. In it, I present the subject of my posters as well as the events and impulses that prompted me to undertake it. For me, the decisive elements in the selection of topics are society and the changes taking place in it. And the poster is, in my opinion, the most human form of conveying thoughts in urban space, and at the same time an important voice in the “street fight”.

The text is a record that the author found during his journey into the future. It was inspired by the 2050 education conference. Using the secret techniques of non-science, he managed to penetrate a world that does not exist. The author himself does not remember much about this trip. There are only torn images and that piece of paper with a story written by someone. It is not known why this particular fragment has remained. Just as it is not known what hand wrote it. It could be the hand of the author himself. But he is not sure. In any case, he rewrote what was left, added a few footnotes. When asked about his goal, he replies that it was meant to say something at the conference. Besides, he treats this text as interventions. He took it for something. Right where he was. Or maybe even wrote/wrote down. He thinks it might be news from the future that will not come.

I’m going to tell you about how I became a political activist. What made me take to the streets, so I broke a taboo: political commitment? I put forward the thesis that in the present political system, participation in political life is abhorrent, so that it remains the domain of a narrow and permanent group of citizens who thus profit (in various dimensions) at the expense of the rest of society. I am talking / writing about how I interacted with other residents of Szczecin and what this experience was for me. I am not going to convince anyone of the so-called „my political option”. I argue that you should get involved, that this is the stage to full humanity.

The aim of this article is to present body extensions that serve to strengthen hearing and thus increase the range of hearing. This concept seems to be an interesting example of how, thanks to various technical devices, the human body is transformed to strengthen or “repair” its functions. The starting point for our considerations is Marshall McLuhan’s media theory, and especially his concept of body extensions. As examples of such activities, we want to present the artistic projects of Stelarc and Neil Harbisson, which, entering the field of medicine and engineering, expand the meaning of what we mean by extending the sense of hearing.

The aim of the text is to present the main themes and ideas contained in the book Trailer Stories. Why some content attracts attention and others are forgotten, which can be helpful in constructing scientific research and writing texts – research reports or scientific essays.

The Operation Vistula has an exceptional place in the post-war history of Poland. It is difficult to explain why. One of the reasons could be the fact that the wounds after these events have not healed and it is impossible to talk about what happened in the Bieszczady in the second half of the 1940s in an emotionless way. The following story is not a historical but rather a story about a story. To be more precise, it is a story about writing a book based on memoirs. It reveals everything that a reader of a book does not normally see. The main characters of the book were forced displaces due to the Operation Vistula presented in their stories, impressions, feeling and issues that they encountered in the so-called Recovered Territories whereas this story focuses on the book author and his experiences. The story is not factual, although all the events are authentic, however, with some deliberate deviations to better build up readers’ emotions. Does it, then, complete the book with the stories of forced displaces? Everyone will have to answer this question on their own.

To say that a music band is a group of performers playing music together is to say nothing. Just like treasure hunters, where one knows the place, the other knows how to put formwork, and the third knows how to evaluate and distinguish minerals from precious stones, everyone in a musical group is different and necessary at the same time. It depends on their mutual relations, feelings, thoughts, words, and possibilities whether the treasure will be found, what victims will be incurred along the way, and whether their own ego will not exceed them. If all goes well, the golden music will remain with them for many years, and maybe even for generations. The only question is how not to sever ties? How to stay yourself? How not to get lost and how to find …?
