Job Stress and Work-Family Conflict as Correlates of Job Satisfaction Among Police Officials

A lack of research has been undertaken to explore work–family conflict and its impact on the shipping industry. The objective of the present study was to empirically examine the effects of work–family conflict, job stress, and job satisfaction on seafarer performance. Data were collected from merchant ship seafarers in the Yangshan Port, Shanghai, China (n = 337). A data analysis was performed using hierarchical regression analysis. The research results revealed that work–family conflict and job stress negatively affects seafarer self-reported performance, while job satisfaction positively influences seafarer job performance. Findings also show that job satisfaction plays a moderating role in the relationships between work–family conflict, job stress and seafarer performance. Our findings demonstrate that work–family conflict, job stress and job satisfaction manifested are significant predictors for seafarer performance. Important applications and implications are provided for managers and researchers.

Stress has been a hot topic to discuss since several years ago. Stress triggered a negative behaviour from employees. In a long term, stress would decrease the whole organizational performance. This study aimed to understand the factor which led to employees’ stress within state-owned organization in Indonesia. All this time, each organization tried to improve their employees’ job satisfaction as it would commonly lead to a positive attitude from the employees. Employees’ organizational commitment was a key which led to organizational success. Work-family conflict had been manifested as a problem in the work-life as the employees could not balance their role as employees and as a family member. These variables were hypothesized to affect employees’ job stress level.The research was conducted at PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I Medan, one of major state-owned firm in Indonesia. The research was focused on married employees and had been working for at least 3 years. There were 72 employees across division selected in the research. The sample was proportionally taken from each division. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaires. The data was analysed with correlation and multiple regression analyses.Correlation analysis showed that stress had a strong positive relationship with work-family conflict. Stress moderately correlated with the employees’ organizational commitment level and satisfaction level. Multiple regression analysis showed that job satisfaction might reduce employees’ job stress but it was insignificant. Job stress was positively and significantly affectedby employees’ satisfaction and commitment. Employees’ organizational commitment negatively and significantly affected the stress level. These relationships explained 64% of job stress variance.

In this modern era, the phenomenon of husband and wife who both work to meet the needs of households are common. But not infrequently, this condition actually causes problems in the household. On the other hand, SPG is also faced with Job Demands. In carrying out its duties, an SPG is also required to achieve sales targets that have been determined by the company. Research conducted at PT. Arina Multikarya Denpasar which is one of human resourceservice company in Denpasar. AMK currently has 630 employees and research respondents focused on employees who are married status, as many as 100 people SPG because they tend to experience work family conflict and work stress that impact on job satisfaction. Based on the results of research on SPG PT. AMK Denpasar, we found that work family conflict has a significant positive effect on job stress, job stress has a significant negative effect on job satisfaction, work family conflict has no effect on job satisfaction, and work stress can mediate the influence of work family conflicton job satisfaction.

This study aims to (1) analyze the effect of  Work-family conflict on job satisfaction; (2) analyze the effect of Work-Family Conflict on work stress ; (3) analyze the effect of work stress on job satisfaction (4) analyze the effect of work-family conflict on job satisfaction mediated by work stress. Type of research is quantitative with causal assosiative. The population in this study was on Female Employees at the District Secretariat on Lombok Island. The number of members of the population is 188 people.   Determination of the sample by purposive sampling method. Sample criteria are employees who are married. The number of samples is 92 people. Data collection techniques or tools use a questionnaire. The analysis tool uses PLS (Partial Least Square) with SmartPLS 3.0 program. The results showed that (1) the Conflict of Family Work had a negative effect not significant on job satisfaction; (2) Work-Family Conflict have a positive significant effect on work stress; (3) Job stress has a negative significant effect on job satisfaction; (4) Work- Family Conflict negatively affects on job satisfaction mediated by work stress.work-family conflict, job stress,  job satisfaction, female employees, Lombok island.

The aim of this chapter is to investigate the effects of work-family conflict on the employees' attitudes towards their jobs and their behaviours in the workplace within the framework of job stress, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment concepts in the Turkish Pharmaceutical Industry. The data used in this study were obtained by the questionnaire survey method. One of the results of this study reveals that work-family conflict and work to family conflict have positive effects on job stress. However, family to work conflict has no effect on job stress. Secondly, work-family conflict and work to family conflict have positive effects on job satisfaction, while no evidence has been found regarding the effects of family to work conflict on job satisfaction. Thirdly, work-family conflict and work to family conflict have negative effects on organizational commitment while no evidence has been found regarding the effects of work to family conflict on organizational commitment.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of family work conflict and work stress on employee job satisfaction. This research was conducted at the Puri Saron Hotel Company in Denpasar. The number of samples taken was 40 employees, using the saturated sample method. Data collection is done through interviews and observations. The analysis technique used is path analysis, classic assumption test and multiple test. The results showed that work-family conflict had a positive and significant effect on job stress in Puri Saron Hotel Denpasar, work stress had a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction, work-family conflict had a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction and significantly job stress was able to mediate the effect work-family conflict with job satisfaction. Efforts to improve employee job satisfaction, leaders should be able to pay attention to the ability of employees to solve problems at work so as not to cause conflicts between work-family and employees and pay attention to the work load on employees so as not to cause fatigue at work so as to cause high work stress. Correctional officers perform a unique job that can lead to various negative outcomes. Understanding factors that can have harmful effects on important organizational attitudes like job stress, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment is imperative for the effective management of correctional institutions. Using survey data from 641 correctional officers employed at two Southwestern state-run prison facilities, the current study examines the influence of two measures of work–family conflict (WFC, strain- and time- based) on job stress, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment while controlling for many known antecedents of these variables. The results suggest that strain-based conflict is a significant predictor of job stress and job satisfaction, while time-based conflict only predicted job satisfaction. Neither measure of WFC had a significant relationship with organizational commitment. These findings are further contextualized in the discussion section with an emphasis on potential policy implications.
