Corner radius end mill, whose cutting capability is mostly affected by the relief surface, is a kind of highly effective end mill [1]. So a novel mathematical model of relief surface curve about corner radius end mill, which is verified with a five-axis computer numerical control (CNC) grinding machine and simulated based on a system CAM, is derived and presented in the paper. According to the proposed tool coordinates system and the mechanical coordinate of the machine, the relative motion between the cup wheel and the tool is determined. In order to obtain an accurate relief curve when machining, the model of a cup wheel edge is also introduced. The coordinates of grinding point when grinding relief surface are calculated. With the input data of the corner radius end geometry, wheels geometry, wheel setting and machine setting, the NC code is generated automatically from the program. Then the code is used to simulate in 3 Dimension before actual machining. Finally, the NC code will be used for machining in the CNC grinding machine. The roundness of the round corner in the final product is very well, means this model is effective.

In this paper, a new kind of ellipsoid end mill is proposed in order to improve the quality and efficiency in machining the sculptured surface. An integral ellipsoid end mill parameter optimization system architecture is developed to make the parametric design automatically and efficiently. Then, the mathematical model of continuous blade curve with constant helix angle and normal helix cutting edge of ellipsoid end mill is presented, as well as the cutting edge on the cylinder of cylindrical ellipsoid end mill. And then, all curves are simulated based on MATLAB software. Finally, the ellipsoid end mill is manufactured using a SAACKE UWIF CNC grinding machine to verify the feasibility of ellipsoid end mill.

The parameters of joint parts must be included in the finite element model of a whole grinding machine. The subject investigated in this paper is B2-K3000 high-precision composite flexible grinding machine. Through finite element modeling, the joint part parameters are integrated into the whole grinding machine model to establish a dynamic model and then analyze its static and dynamic characteristics. The result shows that the whole grinding machine possesses good features, but it still needs to be improved. This paper gives suggestions for its structure development and application.

A online automatic indexable inserts detecting system,which is based on the five-axis CNC grinding system,is introduced in this paper. The probe of the system can complete the online detecting of indexable inserts by calling the macro measurement program. The measruements of the inserts can be calculated and input into the process module.

Ball lock punches with non-circular sections, as a cutting tool in carbide dies, are widely used in car manufacturing industries. In this paper a simple method to produce non-circular cutting punches is presented. From this point of view, first of all, all the methods are analyzed and among them jig grinding as the best one is introduced. In continuation, the attachments of this method like grinding tool selection, mechanical attachments to CNC grinding machine is analyzed. Finally, the simple Visual Software to create motion codes is programmed.
