In this paper, double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWNTs) network layers were patterned using inkjet transfer printing. The remarkable conductive characteristics of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are considered as promising candidates for transmission line as well as microelectronic interconnects of an arbitrary pattern. In this work, the DWNTs were prepared by the catalytic chemical vapor deposition process, oxidized and dispersed in ethylene-glycol solution. The DWNTs networks were deposited between electrodes contact and then characterized at DC through current–voltage measurements, low frequency, and high frequency by scattering parameters measurements from 40 MHz up to 40 GHz through a vector network analyzer. By varying the number of inkjet overwrites, the results confirm that the DC resistance of DWNTs networks can be varied according to their number and that furthermore the networks preserve ohmic characteristics up to 100 MHz. The microwave transmission parameters were obtained from the measured S-parameter data. An algorithm is developed to calculate the propagation constant “γ”, attenuation constant “α” in order to show the frequency dependence of the equivalent resistance of DWNTs networks, which decreases with increasing frequency.

Fermented tapioca which is a new starting material was used as a carbon precursor. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were deposited on silicon wafer (Si) by Thermal Chemical Vapor Deposition (TCVD). The gas flow of Argon (Ar) was constant at 70 bubbles per minute and 20 minutes of deposition time. Before the deposition process, silicon was coated with Nickel using spin coater. Various parameters such as amount of inoculums have been studied. Chemical functional groups of carbon nanotubes were characterized using FT-IR Spectroscopy. The FT-IR result shows peaks attributed to multi–walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) vibration modes.

Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) have been synthesized by a floating catalytic chemical vapor deposition method (FC-CVD) in diameter-varied reactor with xylene as carbon sources, ferrocene as catalyst precursor, and sulfur as additive. The as-grown products were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and Raman spectrometer. The results show that DWCNTs with a high graphite degree is centimeter-scale in length, and the inner diameter varies in the range of 1.5-1.7 nm. The effect of reactor diameter on the structure and morphology of the products was also investigated and compared. It is believed that the diameter-varied reactor may become a feasible route to the mass and continuous production of DWCNTs.

Here we described the synthesis of highly pure double walled carbon nanotube (DWNT) through a right combination of a catalytic chemical vapor deposition method and the two-step purification and evaluated their stacking infidelity when compared to multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs). Easy fabrication of thin and flexible, but mechanically tough DWNT-buckypaper was due to the long and large-sized bundled DWNT (up to 50 nm), where DWNTs with diameter below 2 nm were packed in hexagonal array. Through detailed transmission electron microscope, X-ray and Raman studies, we confirmed that the intershell spacing of our DWNT sample was ca. 0.36 nm, which was believed to strongly affect negative and small magnetoresistance absolute value of −0.09 at 77 K and 1 T.
