The effect of the addition of Sn on the superconducting properties of the Bi 1.7 Pb 0.3 Sr 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O y system as functions of Sn concentration and heat treatment has been studied by dc electrical resistance, ac magnetic susceptibility, and X-ray diffraction. Tin addition suppresses the volume fraction of the high T c phase. Samples with Sn > 0.1 show metallic behavior up to LNT. The formation of the Ca 2 PbO 4 phase is promoted by Sn. This depletes the amount of Pb and Ca necessary for the formation of the 2223 phase, thus reducing the volume fraction of the 2223 phase. It is possible that at least a small fraction of tin substitutes some of the cationic sites of the starting composition. The results of the different measurements are presented.

This paper presents the results obtained from the synthesis and morphological characterization of different magnetite samples:  La0.67-x Prx Ca0.33 MnO3.LaMn1-x Cox O3 and LaMn1-x Nix O3 at 0.13 ≤ 𝑥𝑥 ≤ 0.67 produced by a solid-state reaction mechanism and 𝐿𝐿𝐿𝐿𝑀𝑀𝑀𝑀1−𝑥𝑥(𝐶𝐶𝐶𝐶/𝑁𝑁𝑁𝑁)𝑥𝑥𝑂𝑂3 at 0.0 ≤ 𝑥𝑥 ≤ 0.5 produced by the sol-gel method. These samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction spectroscopy and by measuring electric resistivity and magnetic susceptibility which were carried out as a function of temperature. Notably, the effects of strain and compressive strength on the lattices of magnetite samples were highly dependent on the concentration of 𝑃𝑃𝑟𝑟, 𝐶𝐶𝐶𝐶, and 𝑁𝑁𝑁𝑁. Moreover, the transition temperatures of metal-insulator and ferromagnetic-paramagnetic phases also largely depend on these strength effects, e.g., at higher concentrations of 𝑃𝑃𝑟𝑟, effects of increased strain strength were observed, relocating the shifts of ferromagnetic-paramagnetic transitions to lower temperatures. On the other hand, effects of increased compressive strength were observed at higher concentrations of 𝑁𝑁𝑁𝑁 and 𝐶𝐶𝐶𝐶, relocating the shifts of ferromagnetic-paramagnetic and metal-insulator transitions to higher temperatures.

Polycrystalline ingots of Co70–xNixGa30 (20 ≤ x ≤ 26) ferromagnetic shape memory alloy (FSMA) were prepared by arc melting elemental powders followed by homogenization at 1230 °C for 24 hrs and quenching in liquid nitrogen. Room temperature X-Ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of as-quenched samples exhibited single-phase tetragonal structure for alloy compositions with x = 21 to 26, and a two-phase structure (cubic A2-phase along with weak tetragonal phase) for the alloy with x = 20. Rietveld refinement was performed on the X-ray diffraction patterns to obtain the refined structural parameters. Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) curves recorded from 30 °C to 250 °C revealed martensite-austenite and austenite-martensite transformations in all alloys except the alloy with composition x = 20. Low temperature ac magnetic susceptibility measurements confirmed the existence of martensitic transformations in the alloy with x = 20. The structural transformation temperatures show a linear variation with e/a ratio. All the alloys were ferromagnetic at room temperature. Curie temperature was determined using a high temperature ac magnetic susceptibility measurement set-up.

A novel transition metal polyoxotungstate, [Cu(H2O)6][{Cu(H2O)2}2{Cu(H2O)4H4W12O42}] · 12H2O (1), has been synthesized in aqueous solution and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR and UV/vis spectroscopy, and TG analysis. The paradodecatungstate anions [H2W12O42]10− are linked by CuO6 octahedra, forming a three-dimensional (3D) structure. The magnetic susceptibility of compound 1 in the temperature range 2 - 300 K shows the presence of antiferromagnetic interactions within the uniform Cu2・ ・ ・Cu3 chains

<p><strong>Abstract:</strong> The synthesis and characterization of the crystal structure and magnetic properties of strontium ferrite magnets (SrO.6Fe2O3) has been done. Hematite (Fe2O3) is synthesized from iron sand of Batang Sukam Sijunjung Sumatera Barat through the oxidation process by temperature 700ºC for 3.0 hours. Strontium carbonate (SrCO3) was obtained from Merck product with a purity of more than 99%. Synthesis of strontium ferrite magnets are made through a process of solid-solid mixing and sintering at a temperature of 1000ºC for 3.0 hours. The results of characterization of X-ray diffraction indicates that it has formed a single phase strontium ferrite magnets with a hexagonal crystal structure. The result of measurement of the magnetic properties shows that an average magnetic susceptibility of strontium ferrite magnet is 266.7 × 10-8 m3 /kg.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Keywords</strong>: strontium ferrite magnet, iron sand, crystal structure and magnetic susceptibility.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Abstrak:</strong> Telah dilakukan sintesis dan karakterisasi struktur kristal dan sifat magnetik magnet stronsium ferit (SrO.6Fe2O3). Polycrystalline rubidium superoxide (RbO2) has been synthesized by using solution method followed by the reaction process under the cooling condition of-40 °C. X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD) spectra showed that RbO2 was successfully synthesized by this method. The magnetic susceptibility and pulsed muon spin relaxation (μSR) measurements were carried out in order to study the magnetic properties of RbO2.
