Abstract Realizing a high color rendering index (CRI) in Ce:LuAG transparent ceramics (TCs) with desired thermal stability is essential to their applications in white LEDs/LDs as color converters. In this study, based on the scheme of configuring the red component by Cr3+ doping, an efficient spectral regulation was realized in Ce,Cr:LuAG TCs. A unilateral shift could be observed in both PL and PLE spectra. By constructing TC-based white LED/LD devices in a remote excitation mode, luminescence properties of Ce,Cr:LuAG TCs were systematically investigated. The CRI values of Ce:LuAG TC based white LEDs could be increased by a magnitude of 46.2%. Particularly, by combining Ce,Cr:LuAG TCs with a 0.5 at.% Ce:YAG TC, a surprising CRI values of 88 and 85.5 were obtained in TC based white LEDs and LDs, respectively. Therefore, Ce,Cr:LuAG TC is a highly promising color convertor for high-power white LEDs/LDs applied in general lighting and displaying.

The study of LED reliability becomes more and more important with LED widely used in various areas, and accelerated life test (ALT) as an element of reliability test is widely used to predict the lifetime of LED. In this paper, ALTs have been carried out at various current levels and various temperature levels. In the current ALT experiment, three kinds of stressing currents were demonstrated for 1W white LEDs and lumen flux of the tested LEDs were studied, and based on Eyting model, lifetime of the tested LEDs is calculated about 6.86×105h. In the temperature ALT experiment, two kinds of stressing temperature were demonstrated for the same type of white LEDs and lumen flux were also studied, and based on Arrhenius model, lifetime of the tested LEDs is calculated about 7.41×105h. In addition, the color shifting velocity is faster than lumens depreciation velocity was observed in our experiment, which means the lifetime evaluating of white LED should be paid more attention.

This study is a high-performance, energy-saving drive technology for all pcLED based on luminescence relaxation properties. Its core idea is coordination between power driving model and pcLED relaxation properties. Compared with relative small pulse width, forward pulse excitation current can make pcLED luminescence tends to its saturation peak rapidly during this period because of the steep leading edge of relaxation properties. And in the vacant period of forward pulse excitation current, because of the chosen of best duty cycle, it will be the most effective utilization for luminescence afterglow which has slow attenuation characteristic.

Single-crystalline GeS nanoribbons were synthesized by chemical vapor deposition for the first time. The nanoribbon photodetectors respond to the entire visible incident light with a response edge at around 750 nm and a high responsivity, indicating their promising application for high performance broadband visible-light photo-detection.
