The state-of-the-art of the issue of the efficiency and relevance of the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a motor fuel in the operation of dump trucks is considered. An analysis of the benefits of using LNG as a motor fuel is given. It is noted that, LNG seems to be the most promising alternative to oil types of motor fuel in the segment of open-pit truck haulage. It is affirmed that in Russia, in Kuzbass, the group of companies successfully implemented for the first time an integrated project for the production of LNG and its consumption in relation to BelAZ dump trucks. Data on the relevance and the need to develop technical requirements for on-board cryogenic fuel systems of mine dump trucks are given. Data on the developed groups of technical requirements for on-board cryogenic fuel systems of BelAZ dump trucks are given. It is said that the developed technical requirements made it possible to solve a number of tasks related to the development of circuit and design solutions for equipping BelAZ dump trucks with cryogenic systems. It is argued that the developed technical requirements will contribute to the further development of domestic projects for the production and consumption of liquefied natural gas.

The issue of a comparative study of fuel consumption and temperature characteristics of gas-diesel BelAZ 75131 mining dump trucks equipped with an on-board cryogenic fuel system and hauling rock mass at the Kuzbass open-pit coal mine is considered in the article. A brief analysis of the efficiency of using liquefied natural gas (LNG) - methane - as a motor fuel for mining dump trucks is carried out. It is noted that the use of LNG fuel for heavy-duty dump trucks is one of the most promising ways to improve the environmental and economic performance during the operation of this type of mining equipment. The technique and instrumental base for conducting research are presented. The relationship between natural ratios of diesel fuel replacement with natural gas and the energy charge of these replacement is studied. The following data are presented: data on the consumption of vaporous (gaseous superheated) natural gas (hereinafter gaseous natural gas) during field operation of gas-diesel BelAZ 75131 mining dump trucks; flow rate of gaseous natural gas in pipelines; consumption of antifreeze at the inlet to the liquefied natural gas evaporator, as well as antifreeze temperature at the inlet and outlet of the evaporator; temperature of gaseous natural gas at the outlet of the reducer after the evaporator; data on the comparison of temperature profiles in the cylinders of CUMMINS KTA 50 internal combustion engine under diesel and gas-diesel operation.

The state-of-the-art of efficiency and relevance of the use of liquefied natural gas as a motor fuel for truck operation is considered. A brief analysis of economic and environmental benefits of using liquefied natural gas as a motor fuel is conducted. It is noted that liquefied natural gas seems to be the most promising alternative to oil fuels for high-payload-capacity haul trucks. It is affirmed that for the first time in Russia, in Kuzbass, OOO “Siber-Energo” successfully implemented an integrated project for the production of liquefied natural gas and its consumption in relation to high-payload-capacity BelAZ haul trucks. The data on the assessment of the energy intensity of the process of rock mass hauling by high-payload-capacity BelAZ 75131 haul trucks equipped with on-board cryogenic fuel system are presented. The data show that the energy intensity of the process of rock mass hauling by dual-fuel (gas-diesel) haul trucks is much less than that of diesel-powered haul trucks. It is said that, according to the energy criterion for evaluating the operation, it is more efficient to use haul trucks running on gas-diesel mixture.

A specific feature of the market for the transport of perishable goods is the length of the routes. As part of the implementation of new technical solutions for isothermal rolling stock, research is being conducted on the development of autonomous power supply complexes. The article discusses combined power supply system of an autonomous refrigerated car (ARC), which includes a diesel generator set and a carriage generator. Possibility of using liquefied natural gas as a motor fuel for a diesel generator set, as well as generator and drive units with a car generator is being evaluated. Taking into account the operating experience of power plants of cars in the mode of unmanned technologies, the advantages of using liquefied gas as fuel are described. Comparative calculation of the costs of various types of fuel by the ARC power plant is given. The advantages of using the utilization of the heat of vaporization of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to increase the cooling capacity of a regular refrigeration unit are substantiated. Article gives comparative calculated economic assessment of fuel costs when using different options for power supply systems on routes when driving at high speed and accelerated refrigerated trains, which allows determining the required onboard fuel supply for different options. The use of LNG as a motor fuel and an additional source of cold for ARC is promising. Autonomy of the car on existing fuel reserves is increased by reducing the operating time of refrigeration and power plants. Reducing operating costs is achieved through savings on the purchase of fuel, since the price of an equivalent amount of LNG is lower than that of gasoline or diesel fuel. Operational advantages of LNG are to protect the fuel system from corrosion and contamination. The use of a generator-drive unit with a car generator will save from 30 to 70 % of the fuel used (LNG or diesel), depending on the speed of the freight train on routes of considerable length.

Extremely high heat tariffs and their permanent growth in the remote regions of the Russian Federation become a considerable barrier to further development of these regions. Therefore, the limitation of the heat tariff increase in the regions is an important goal of energy policy. On the example of two districts of the Kamchatka Territory, the effectiveness of gasification of remote boiler plants with liquefied natural gas is shown as a means of restraining an excessive increase in tariffs for thermal energy. A competitive price for liquefied natural gas has been determined for remote boilers in Kamchatka, and the commercial efficiency of construction of boilers using liquefied natural gas has been evaluated.

The state of the issue of the relevance and efficiency of the technology of using liquefied natural gas as a partial replacement of diesel fuel in mining vehicles is considered. It is argued that this technology does not require complex and time-consuming re-engineering of internal com- bustion engines, which makes it economically feasible. It is noted that liq- uefied natural gas seems to be the most promising alternative to petroleum motor fuels in heavy-duty mining dump trucks. The use of liquefied natu- ral gas as a motor fuel reduces the environmental burden; increases the energy efficiency of the rock mass hauling process and reduces fuel costs. It is said that developments aimed at substantiating and choosing design and layout solutions for the placement and arrangement of cryogenic equipment on mining vehicles are relevant. The new method for installing cryogenic fuel tanks on the deck of the BelAZ 7513 series mining dump truck with a payload capacity of 130 tons is described in detail. Layout so- lutions for the modernization of the deck of the BelAZ 7513 series dump truck allowing placing additional cryogenic equipment on its board are presented. The data presented indicate that the successful implementation of the proposed method is confirmed by the project on equipping the BelAZ 75131 mining dump truck with cryogenic onboard fuel systems, implemented in practice.

Research on forecasting the seasonality and growth trend of natural gas (NG) production and consumption will help organize an analysis base for NG inspection and development, social issues, and allow industrials elements to operate effectively and reduce economic issues. In this situation, we handle a comparison structure on the application of different models in monthly NG production and consumption forecasting using the cross-correlation function and then analyze the association between exogenous variables. Moreover, the SARIMA-X model is tested for US monthly NG production and consumption prediction via the proposed method for the first time in the literature review in this study. The performance of that model has been compared with SARIMA (p, d, q) * (P, D, Q)s. The results from RMSE and MAPE indicate that the superiority of the best model. By applying this method, the US monthly NG production and consumption is forecast until 2025. The success of the proposed method allows the use of seasonality patterns. If this seasonal approach continues, the United States’ NG production (16%) and consumption (24%) are expected to increase by 2025. The results of this study provide effective information for decision-makers on NG production and consumption to be credible and to determine energy planning and future sustainable energy policies.
