Transport infrastructure development is considered one of the basic structural preconditions of competitiveness, growth and economic development in Slovakia. Transport network upgrading in the country has recently been focused mainly on road and motorway networks. The goal of this paper is to contribute to existing approaches to transport infrastructure impact assessment. The paper presents selected results of qualitative research focused on an analysis of the R1 expressway (as a part of TEN-T network) and its impacts on the economic, social and environmental dimensions of life at the local territorial level. The paper also seeks to answer the basic question, whether and to what extent the new section of the expressway brings any stimuli to regional or local development. Qualitative research realized by field sociological methods has shown new data and information necessary for a complex assessment of transport infrastructure impacts on social and economic development of regions. We assume that these impacts should not be based purely on mathematic and statistical research methods.

The purpose of our study was to propose the measures necessary to promote industry-academic cooperation by investigating and analyzing factors affecting its performance Recently, the Korean government increased the budget available for industry-academic cooperation to help nurture industrial talent and promote industry-academic cooperation. In our study, the results of industry-academic cooperation for 48 universities that carried out the 5-year LINC development project from 2012 to 2016 were analyzed via panel analysis to identify any factors affecting the performance. Our analysis revealed that the organizational capabilities of the university—including the number of dedicated professors, the number of projects assigned, and the financial support—had a significant effect on technical commercialization. In addition, we found that the moderating effect of allied companies on the relationship between the organizational capabilities of universities and their technical commercialization was significant. However, the results of our analysis differed depending on university location. Universities in and around the Capital region benefited from their organizational capabilities and cooperation with allied companies. Based on the results of the analysis, we conclude that it is necessary to consider a variety of factors, including efficient support of the industry-academic cooperation budget and practical application of industry-academic cooperation systems.

Transport infrastructure is a measure of the spatial interaction among regions and has a significant role in supporting the process of regional infrastructure development because without transportation between one place to another place is not materialized well. Interaction among regions has reflected in the transportation infrastructure facilities condition as well as the flow of people, goods, and services.. Transportation infrastructure development can improve the accessibility of Deli Serdang region, thereby improving the economy of Deli Serdang, which consequently will increase the welfare of the community; therefore the accessibility planning is essential. For this purpose, there are three questions posed in this study. The results showed that both of quantity and quality variables, accuracy and ease had the significant effect on the regional development and its aspects except qualitative variables to local development as well as issues of the economic, social and accuracy. Regional development variable also had a significant effect on the public welfare but the social aspect of revenue aspect. Development of transport infrastructure should be improving the quantity, accuracy, and ease of roads in Deli Serdang districts in enhancing the development of the region to improve the welfare of rural communities. Keywords: transport infrastructure, regional development, public welfare

Abstract China has long struggled to make science and technology useful for industry. One essential element in overcoming this problem is vigorous knowledge infrastructure development. This article focuses on the most salient outcomes of recent organization-building initiatives in Guangdong: the ‘New R&D Institutes’ (NRDIs). We employ a process tracing approach including a mix of methods to systematically study NRDIs, and we examine the ways in which these institutes extend, and improve upon, previous Chinese approaches to technology transfer. We observe a flexible approach that engages a wide range of intra-regional and extra-regional knowledge actors and allows for the emergence of a variety of technology transfer models—including models that are better adapted to the local setting than those discussed in the literature. The article contributes to fragmentary knowledge on the role of technology transfer in China and to the literature on innovation policy in peripheral manufacturing regions.

Micro Business Enterprises (MBEs) is the lifeblood for economic development. Using a descriptive quantitative research design, the study aimed to investigate the impact of MBEs to economic development.  As to impact, in general, it was of a moderate extent. Among the indicators, technology has the highest mean interpreted to a high extent, while infrastructure development scored the lowest mean score, which reflected a moderate degree. The study further delved into the economic contribution and challenges encountered by MBEs. The findings basically implied that MBEs were rooted in the entrepreneur's commitment to do business that promotes progress and development to the local economy.

Abstract This report’s main aim is to propose a methodology for assessing state-budget-funded projects based on a rigorous selection model, including clear and effective prioritization criteria. This report first argues that project prioritization and selection should be optimized against four dimensions: absorption, impact, legitimacy, and capacity. Second, it provides a diagnostic of the National Program for Local Development (PNDL), managed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration (MRDPA), as the most significant source of state-budget funding for local infrastructure projects. The PNDL’s current design and implementation leaves room for improvement, as reflected by the lack of strategic direction in allocating funds and the continued rise in the number of projects that get started without a feasible timeline for their completion. Further, this report makes recommendations for improvement of project evaluation and selection procedures for local infrastructure development projects, with a special focus on prioritization criteria and viable funding sources for each type of investment. The practical purpose is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of proposed investments, maximizing impact in the context of inherently limited available financial resources. A complementary focus is on opportunities for harmonizing and better coordinating investments across various sources of funding, in the context of nearly EUR 40 billion available to Romania from the EU for the 2014-2020 programming period.
