Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the influence of transglobal leadership on quality of work-life, job involvement and its impact on the performance of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) employees throughout Malang Raya. Design/methodology/approach The population of the paper was all of MSME employees in Malang Raya and MSME developing in East Java regions, namely Sidoarjo, Pasuruan District, Pasuruan City, Kediri District, Jombang, Surabaya City, Blitar City and Blitar District. This paper uses GSCA for several reasons. First, it uses a structural model (involving several endogenous variables). Second, it involves unobservable variables that require a measurement model (variable measurement of the indicators). Third, it needs a comparative model testing that compares several groups of objects using the multigroup GSCA. Findings Transglobal leadership has a significant effect on quality of work life and job involvement in the five regions. It also has a significant effect on employee performance in the four regions, except Malang Regency. Quality of work life has a significant effect on job involvement in two regions, namely Malang City and Malang Regency, but not in the other three regions. Quality of work life and job involvement together has a significant effect on employee performance in all study sites. Originality/value These gaps motivate the researchers to comprehensively examine the relationship between QWL and employee performance, QWL and job involvement and job involvement and employee performance – these are the originality of the present study, in addition to different research locations. Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malang are divided into three main groups, namely manufacturing business, merchandising business and service business.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to obtain empirical evidence, analyze and explain the mediating effect of the quality of work life (QWL), job-retention engagement and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) on the relationship between transglobal leadership and employee performance. Design/methodology/approach The population in this research is all employees of the most outstanding cooperatives in East Java Province. The method used to analyze the data in this study is generalized structural component analysis. Findings The main findings of this research show that the effects of mediation variables of QWL, job involvement and OCB in transglobal leadership influence employee performance in cooperatives in East Java. These findings are not in line with the Theory of Leadership by Sharkey et al. (2012), and explains the link between behaviors of transglobal leadership and employee performance. The study finds a need for attention in intervening/mediating variables such as QWL, job involvement and OCB as regard the relationship between transglobal leadership and employee performance. Research limitations/implications Transglobal leadership directly affects the QWL, job involvement and OCB: the higher the transglobal leadership, the higher the effect on QWL, job involvement and OCB. However, transglobal leadership has no direct effect on employee performance. Then, QWL, job involvement and OCB are mediating variables between the effects of transglobal leadership on full-mediation employee performance. Social implications To improve the performance of employees of cooperatives, some improvements are needed such as an increase in the quality of a leader’s cooperative approach, especially with transglobal leadership style. However, particularly in the approach, factor of quality of work life, job involvement and OCB cannot be ignored or overriden. Improved leadership capacity, priority for improved business intelligence main factor, while the quality of work-life priorities take precedence in the growth and development factors. Job involvement of preferred priority on self-esteem factor performances, while the main priority organizational citizenship behavior on altruism factor. Employee performance will be improved with the aforementioned ideal conditions, especially on the work factor result. Originality/value Mediation effect of job involvement and OCB, using Sobel test, for assessing the relationship between translgobal leadership and employee performance has not been studied before.

PurposeThis paper aims to examine whether companies in Indonesian controversial industries can rely on their corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices to improve potential employees' job pursuit intention, which lead to a higher quality of work life (QWL) and a better performance from their employees.Design/methodology/approachThe target respondents are interns, staff and supervisors of 42 Indonesian listed companies in controversial industries. The data collection method is performed by distributing questionnaires using a seven-point Likert scale. Collected data using partial least squares (PLS) analysis are conducted and tested.FindingsConsistent with the existing result, the authors find out that potential employees have a higher intention to join and accept a job offer from companies with a higher level of CSR practices. Regarding the corporate social responsibility, it is further proven to have a positive effect on employee's quality of work life. More interestingly, the findings of the current study reveal that CSR also affects employee performance (EP), both directly and indirectly, through QWL.Research limitations/implicationsFindings demonstrate that CSR in Indonesian controversial industry represents an important factor for recruiting top employees that lead to the improvement of the employee's quality of work life and performance.Practical implicationsThe findings indicate that enterprises should be more concerned about CSR engagement in attracting new talents, enhancing the quality of work life and cultivating the employee's performance.Originality/valueThis study enhances previous supports and studies on the concept of CSR and human resource management by analyzing the relationship between CSR and employee performance. Previous researches have concentrated their objectives in finding the link between CSR and the financial performance of a company. However, it must be understood that a company's success actually hinges on the performance of one of their greatest assets, the human resources. Additionally, due to the change in generations that will be the job seekers, recruitment strategy to attract job applicants and improve the job pursuit intention (JPI) is now needed more than ever. One of the strategies that Indonesian companies can use to do so is by practicing CSR. Hence, this is the first study in an attempt to observe the overall relationship of the CSR with the job pursuit intention, QWL and EP, especially in the controversial industries. The study will drive companies to intensify their efforts in maintaining good employee performance.

PurposeJob performance (JP) of employees is a key indicator of success for any organization; however, job performance is dependent on many factors including personal and organizational. The current study aims to investigate this phenomenon concerning the quality of work-life (QoWL).Design/methodology/approachThe study design was quantitative, and a questionnaire was filled by 130 professional librarians based on a convenient sampling technique. The research population was academic information professionals (IPs) serving the university libraries of Lahore, Pakistan. Data were analyzed using SPSS (20.0).FindingsJob career satisfaction is proved a key indicator of JP along with job control and general well-being (GWB). Counterproductive work behavior (CWB), which is a negative behavior, is significantly affected by poor job satisfaction (JS), stress, feelings of unhappiness and low workplace autonomy.Practical implicationsThe study suggests that if poor JS, stress, feelings of unhappiness and low workplace autonomy could be manipulated positively, CWB may be reduced and there are chances to improve the JP of IPs.Originality/valueThis is one of the first attempts that focuses on QoWL and its impact on JP of IPs. The study findings may help leaders and library administration to take employees' friendly decisions to provide a conducive work environment.

With an aim to test reciprocity between non-financial elements of compensation and productivity outcomes, in the presence of perception about organizational support theory, Data had been collected at primary level by a questionnaire, from a sample of 525 banking professionals from big ten Pakistani banks, and same had been analyzed by smartPLS. Results showed that all relationships among study variables are highly responsive to the perception about organizational support. Quality of work life creates reciprocity with employee performance but their magnitudes get affected where practioners need to pay specific attention on employee perception about organizational support.
