The study, carried out in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, was selected as a case study of the use of mobile telephones among small-scale goods and service providers in a relatively slowly moving urban place like Shillong. The study attempts to observe different sectors of traders and goods and service providers of perishable and non-perishable items using mobile telephones. The attempt is to see if the mobile device has evolved as a grand tool to overcome various obstacles in the expansion and extension of livelihood and business opportunities, and understand the how changes in communication technology have an enabling influence in people’s business lives—as a resource for increasing clientele, improving sales, and connecting to new markets, buyers and vendors. Differences are greatly found to lie in the type of goods and service provider, types of clientele being targeted (local versus international) and scale of operations.

AbstractSmall-scale commercial rollouts of Cellular-IoT (C-IoT) networks have started globally since last year. However, among the plethora of low power wide area network (LPWAN) technologies, the cost-effectiveness of C-IoT is not certain for IoT service providers, small and greenfield operators. Today, there is no known public framework for the feasibility analysis of IoT communication technologies. Hence, this paper first presents a generic framework to assess the cost structure of cellular and non-cellular LPWAN technologies. Then, we applied the framework in eight deployment scenarios to analyze the prospect of LPWAN technologies like Sigfox, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, LTE-M, and EC-GSM. We consider the inter-technology interference impact on LoRaWAN and Sigfox scalability. Our results validate that a large rollout with a single technology is not cost-efficient. Also, our analysis suggests the rollout possibility of an IoT communication Technology may not be linear to cost-efficiency.

Mobile money is an electronic wallet service that allows users to store, send and receive money using their mobile phone. This research is an effort to find out the adoption and utilization of mobile money services in small sized enterprises located in Gaborone, Botswana. Inevitably, other aspects such as different types of transactions carried out using mobile money services in small business, customer’s perception on quality of mobile money service providers, impeding factors of mobile money adoption are also studied for wider understanding of the subject. The findings of the study show that small enterprises use mobile money services to carryout transactions but the level of adoption is not significant. The study revealed that transactional costs and connectivity issues are major barriers of adoption of mobile money services. In conclusion the study recommended that the service providers must improve the connectivity issues and reduce transaction charges in order to increase the utilization of mobile money services

In the current era, mobile devices playing an important role in our part of daily life. With today's technology, users of mobile devices can now use their mobile device to make a payment or transaction instead of using a physical card. A mobile wallet is a way to display your card information in a digital format on your mobile device. As a result, mobile wallets are now growing rapidly in Malaysia and many mobile wallet service providers are available on the current market. For this reason, several issues have been raised in this research in order to study the factors that affect users ' intention to switch to mobile wallets. The main objective of this research is to examine the factors which affect users’ switching intention on the mobile wallet. A set of self-administered questionnaires has been randomly distributed to 220 respondents for the purpose of data collection. After we had collected all the data from the respondents, data were keyed into Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 26 and Smart PLS is used to assess the measurement model and the structural equation model. The data analysis result showed that dissatisfaction, alternative attractiveness, and the subjective norm has a significant relationship towards users’ switching intention on the mobile wallet. Moreover, the service provider should keep improving their service quality to avoid users switching to another one. Lastly, the service provider must keep updating their features or attractiveness, so the users won’t be so easy to switch to another one and influence by other people.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore service triads in humanitarian logistics (HL). The study uses agency theory to understand the dynamics between principal(s) and agent(s) and how contractual arrangements influence the service buyer–service provider alignment in humanitarian service triads. Design/methodology/approach This is a case study on a specific humanitarian service triad, with qualitative data being collected in a field study, utilising participant observation and in-context interview techniques for rich data collection. Findings The findings highlight the importance of both contractual and relational contracts between the service buyer, service provider and end customer – here donor (government), United Nations agency and implementing partner (IP). The alignment of the three parties in the service triad is more easily achieved through hybrid contracts rather than legal arrangements focussing on outcomes only. Research limitations/implications Results stem from a specific case study that constitutes a typical humanitarian service triad. An increased understanding of managing services and their service providers in the triadic context of outsourced service delivery adds to the body of knowledge in supply management. Originality/value This is the first examination of governance structures in contractual arrangements in a humanitarian service triad. The research fills the gap in humanitarian literature regarding the interaction of practitioners in HL, specifically, a service buyer organisation (a donor – government), a service provider (a UN agency) and the end customer (an IP). The research is field based and is grounded in empirical observations thus adding to the literature and offering insights to practice.

This paper addresses technological, organizational and environmental contexts as experienced within South African Financial Service Providers, with respect to digital transformation. Although digital transformation is well studied, the research problem is that literature inadequately addresses how these three contexts manifest and play a role as financial service providers transform to digital business. Informed by interpretivist philosophy stance and case study strategy, this paper shows how digital transformation is enabled or inhibited by contextual influences. The paper argues that digital transformation ought to manifest cognizant of the context in which the financial service provider finds itself. To this point, the paper conceptualises a framework that may help in the digital business transformation.

As computer devices go embedded into the environment people will be surrounded by ubiquitous computers in their everyday life. These devices can serve as a base in services where data are collected and analyzed to serve the customers. Ubiquitous services are to a great extent invisible as people can neither see the computers nor have to be involved in the data collection or the data analysis. The service provider can be located at a distance and is thus also invisible to the customers. A challenge for the parties involved in the service production is to deal with the invisibility and the distance that emerge in ubiquitous services. The aim of this paper is to address the issues of invisibility and distance in ubiquitous services by exploring the implications of using ubiquitous computing to produce services. To address this question, the paper adopts a practice perspective to analyze data from an empirical case study of a remote diagnostics service provider and one of its customers in the mining industry. The study shows that both human enactment and the technology have implications for the service. They do however, reveal a paradox: the technology is designed to enable invisible services while people’s enactment of the service strives towards making them more visible. For ubiquitous service providers it is important to cope with this paradox, otherwise it might cause unfulfilled expectations and an unsuccessful service delivery.

So far, in implementing school strategies, they tend not to utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT), despite the availability of ICT resources available. Stages of strategic management are needed to generate the vision, mission, objectives, policy, program, budget, and procedures as well as control and evaluation process as an effort to utilize ICT to improve school quality. Based on the interpretation and the results of the study, it is concluded that schools have organized stages in strategic management that enable schools to have a quality profile. The impact of effective utilization of ICTs for schools is the achievement of effective school management, as per the National Education Standards, which is characterized by effective planning, implementation, control, and evaluation of school ICTs.The purpose of this study is to get a general description, describe, and reveal the Strategic Management of Information and Communication Technology Utilization to Improve the Quality of School Learning in Ciledug Al Musaddadiyah Vocational High School and Garut 1 Vocational High School, both on environmental analysis, strategic formulation, implementation and strategic evaluation. The research method used in this research is the case study method, because the problems studied occur in the place and situation of Ciledug Al Musaddadiyah Vocational School and Vocational High School 1 Garut. The use of case study models in this study is based on the consideration that to provide an overview of the strategic management activities of the use of ICTs carried out at vocational high schools with the ultimate goal of being able to improve the quality of school learning. Based on observations in the field of SMK 1 Garut and SMK Al Musaddadiyah Ciledug Garut is one of the public schools and private schools that have these advantages.
