Many nurses new to general practice struggle to access appropriate education. Sue Crossman and Gill Rogers explain a new piece of work that aims to develop a minimum standard to raise the quality and consistency of training in London This article presents a general practice nurse (GPN) education standard developed by Capital Nurse in London with an expert group of stakeholders with relevant experience in the field. The goal is to reduce variation in the content and quality of education courses that prepare nurses to work in general practice, providing a kitemark that identifies whether courses meet this standard. This work attempts to address the inequalities experienced by many nurses new to general practice, who struggle to determine the education they need to achieve competence in their role. The standard has been called the GPN ‘Qualification in Specialism Standard’ and is to be adopted and tested by Higher Education institutions across London in 2020.

The article describes practices to evaluate the quality of education among students during the “All-Russian” stage of the Russian Student Olympiad (ARSO) in speech therapy (Saransk, 2015), as well as aspects of content and the procedure to apply this evaluation tool; the results of this evaluation allow the authors to conclude that the quality of professional competence development and personal education of students are assessed qualitatively and quantitatively.

With the publication of the United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on report of the Asian Regional Symposia on Arts Education nearly one and decades ago, scholars and educators have urged Asian teachers, including Indonesia to incorporate arts and culture into curriculum to improve the quality of education, yet efforts connecting arts, especially gamelan music into social studies is lacking. Built upon the previous research on integrated curriculum which aligned with National Education Standard Board (Indonesian: Badan Standar Nasional Pendidikan or BSNP), on both process and content standards this article aimed to offer a rationale for incorporating Javanese gamelan music potential into social studies classroom and propose a framework for planning. Social studies classroom components included assigned readings on Indonesian national history, especially in the Hindu-Buddhist eras in small group discussion. With this approach and its lesson it is presumed that social studies and gamelan teachers benefit of integrating gamelan music into social studies. Keywords: Javanese gamelan, integration, framework, social studies.

Mapping the quality of education in Indonesia needs to be studied so that the provincial government, as the institution responsible for secondary education management policies, can more easily determine priorities and what actions will be taken to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. One of the analytical methods that can be used to map the quality of education is fuzzy c-means. This research aims to classify the quality maps of provinces in Indonesia based on the results of SHS/MA accreditation using the fuzzy c-means method. The fuzzy c-means method can show the probability of objects entering a cluster with a degree of membership. The optimum cluster sizes obtained were 2 and 3. The final solution with cluster size 2 was 12 provinces categorized in cluster 1 and 22 provinces categorized in cluster 2. Clustering with cluster size 3 resulted in cluster 1 consisting of 11 provinces, cluster 2 consisting of 16 provinces, and cluster 3, which consists of 7 provinces. The main character of cluster 1 is a high national education standard score, while the main character of cluster 2 is a low national education standard score. Then the main character of group 3 is the national standard score, whose value is around the national average.

The National Program of Rural Education (Programa Nacional de Educação no Campo - PROCAMPO), initiated in 2012, sought to establish an ensemble of articulated actions in order to improve the quality of education in rural areas of the country by adjusting teacher trainings to such demand. In that context, this paper aims to investigate the socioeconomic profile of graduates in Rural Education with focus on Natural Sciences who got their degrees from UFERSA, UFGD, UFTM and UFFS between 2014 and 2018. The results show that 66.67% of the graduates are female; 57.14% are self-declared Caucasian; aged 32.5 years old, on average; 43% are married; and their average family income is 2 minimum wages (33%). The courses on Rural Education present challenges such as decreasing the dropout/Leave of Absence rates, and guaranteeing that those who were banned from the educational system have the right to continue and finish their higher-education courses. As it is known, the precarization and belittling of the teaching career is generalized in Brazil, but that reality is even more starkly evident in Rural Education.
