The article analyzes the perception of employers on the performance of graduates of teaching programs, coming from Chilean universities that show different level of selectivity. A qualitative design is used, with in-depth interviews conducted in 2017 and 2018. It is concluded that the work performance of teachers is mediated by the degree of selectivity of the training institutions. Perspectives persist in employers that confirm social segregation, both in university education and in teaching work. The optimal teaching performance in high poverty contexts would be related to the adaptation to the educational context, the capacity for social integration, collaborative work and classroom management, among other attributes.

The purpose of this study was to determine the performance of employees (ASN) in the South Morotai District office. The form of this research is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation and in-depth interviews with the subdistrict head, subdistrict head secretary, employees, and the community. This study concluded that employees at the South Morotai District Office were not disciplined in terms of time, both when they entered the office and after working hours. Employees are not able to make the best use of time to do productive work to improve performance. employees generally do not know and understand their respective fields of duty. The concept of the right man in the right place is not applied in the placement of employees. Performance evaluation of employees at the South Morotai District Office is difficult because of unclear job descriptions and division of tasks for the state apparatus. This causes the work performance is not measurable both in quality and quantity..

AbstractFor over a decade, the authors have worked collaboratively to better understand and address the challenges and possibilities of promoting multilingual literacy in Uganda, a country of over 44 million people where over 40 African languages are spoken and English is the official language. This article focuses on the diverse ways that teachers promote early literacy in large multilingual classrooms, and how the innovative African Storybook digital initiative might support primary school teachers in both rural and urban areas. We begin the article with a description of our collaborative work on the African Storybook (http://www.africanstorybook.org/) and one of its derivatives, Storybooks Uganda (https://global-asp.github.io/storybooks-uganda/). Then, drawing on a collaborative study of primary school classrooms in eastern Uganda, we analyze four common strategies that Ugandan teachers use to promote multilingual literacy in their classrooms: the use of the mother tongue as a resource; songs and multimodality; translanguaging; and linguistic strategies for classroom management. We follow this with a discussion of a 2015 teacher education workshop in eastern Uganda, which illustrates how the African Storybook can help support Ugandan teachers as they navigate the challenges of large classrooms. We conclude that the African Storybook has much promise for addressing the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Under the ministerial regulation no 21/2016 the payment of JKN service to the FKTP used capitation payment system. The payment given to the primary care is in the form of health service payment (minimum 60%). The allocation is based on types of workforce (profession, administrative tasks, person in charge of programs, and years of service) and attendance. This study investigates the possibility of adding employee performance as a variable in giving health service point for employees at FKTP Puskesmas. This study is a qualitative study in nature using case study design. The data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussion, and triangulation. Incentive payment increases the employee performance at work. The amount of incentives should line up with the employees performances. Incentives will not be effective if they are fixed and do not count the employees performances. In the ministerial regulation no 21/2016, healthcare service is not included as a variable in employee performance evaluation. The head of FKTP Puskesmas can use the results of employee performance evaluation to determine the amount of incentives received. One of the ways to improve employee performance is through reward and punishment system. Employee performance in Puskesmas can be increased by adding work performance evaluation as a variable capitation payment of BPJS Kesehatan to Puskesmas based on ministerial regulation (Permenkes) no 21/ 2016.

One effort to increase effective learning in schools is the role of the principal in supervising learning, because the success or failure of teaching programs in schools is largely determined by the principal as a leader. Leadership is a very important factor in influencing organizational work performance, because leadership is the main activity where organizational goals can be achieved (Nuchiyah: 2007). According to Muhani (2016: 1465) leadership is one of the problems that arise along with human awareness of the importance of living in groups to achieve common goals.

Abstract Six social care professionals were recruited to take part in in-depth interviews that sought to explore their phenomenological experiences of humour within their place of work. Using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach, the results suggest that humour serves various important functions within social care. Humour can allow social care professionals to relieve themselves of negative emotions, to avoid stress and cynicism, to achieve a sense of normality and perspective and to engage with service users. The positive impact humour appears to have upon these professionals is in keeping with the humour–health hypothesis, which posits that humour enhances well-being. However, results from this study also suggest that humour may be capable of negatively impacting well-being. Arguably, these findings highlight the need to extend the humour–health hypothesis and incorporate the negative effects humour can have upon well-being. Results also indicate that, if used appropriately, humour can be utilised to benefit work performance and service user outcomes. The findings of this research hold important implications for how humour may be understood and fostered in social care training, practice and policy.

In the context of increasing numbers of students enrolling in higher education in the last decade, understanding student expectations of their universities becomes more important. Universities need to know what students expect if they want to keep them satisfied and continue attracting them. On the other hand, it is also important to know whether student expectations are in line with the purpose of the universities and the causes they serve. This research explores students’ expectations and perceptions of the university in post-Soviet Georgia, as well as whether these expectations are in line with the perspectives of university administrators. For the purposes of this research, over 800 bachelor level students of different academic programs were surveyed at five big public universities across Georgia. Additionally, 10 in-depth interviews were conducted with university administrators to learn about the purpose that public universities try to serve and to understand their perspectives on what should be expected of university. After the analysis of the results, two focus groups were conducted with the students in Western and Eastern Georgia to make sense of the findings obtained through the student survey. Finally, 4 in-depth interviews were conducted with experts to understand their perspectives on the actual findings of this research. The results suggest that employment is the main expectation from a university education. Moreover, there is a mismatch between what students identify as their primary expectation and what administrators believe students should expect. Significance and implications of these results for universities are discussed.

Nowadays, the academic productivism dare the university education of its original spirit object. So, the raise in publishing academic work does not reflect an increase of emancipatory capacity of the actors involved in the educational context, even though in students of graduate programs. Thus, this article seeks to counter productive and emancipatory education to the education based on productivism, implemented in Brazilian higher education in the last years. The relevance of this research consists in a proposal of reflection on the change of rules related to the academic field. Methodologically, a survey was carried out at the end of the first half of 2016. In addition, a review of the literature on the phenomenon discussed here is used in this article, using data from the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES). Also made a quantitative survey of the publication of articles in the last decade in three Brazilian journals and, finally, an interview with a coordinator of a master's program in administration in the State of Rio de Janeiro. At the end, it is believed that the essence of emancipatory education is damaged against the current productivist system.
