Gossip plays a crucial part in our communicative and social behavior as it is thought to be a manifestation of any ‘ordinary’ everyday life. Interestingly, the portrayal of gossip in Javanese culture can be found in the recent viral short movie Tilik (The Ladies on Top). Unfortunately, contemporary interpretations and discussions about Bu Tejo often focus only on what gossip is about and its negative effect on the image of women. None of them observed the relation between gossip and power. Thus, the study aims to analyze gossip in Tilik movie by using the concept of power among Javanese women. The writer used the qualitative method. The writer focused on the theory of gossip and power; and used the concept of power among Javanese women proposed by Handayani and Novianto. This research revealed that gossip in Tilik becomes the weapon of choice in the female arsenal due to the rivalry between Bu Tejo and Dian. Bu Tejo’s negative attitude towards Dian can be seen as a political tactic for Javanese women, and the personal is political. Lastly, the acts of gossiping in the movie match with the concept of how Javanese women play the game of power through srawung (socialization).

The objective of this research was to find out the symbol and theme that was used by Robert Frost in his literary works. It was also to elaborate on his biographical aspect of using symbols and themes in his poem. The method used to make this paper was a qualitative method. The writer also used two approaches to analyze this paper; first, the intrinsic approach consists of the symbol and theme and second, the extrinsic approach is a biographical perspective. The data were collected through library research. The results of this research indicated that the symbol on “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” was related to his nature or everyday life, while the theme on “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” was about the journey. The last, Robert Frost wrote his poem based on his experience of life when he was a teenager.

This study aims to describe the function and style of the mural by Arnis Muhammad. Mural as art in public space, which means that the space for movement and the target audience for the audience and audience is the general public. As a two-dimensional work of art, mural is also inseparable from style. Visually, the style in a work of art is the selection of objects, techniques, colors, and environmental conditions, time, era, and environmental conditions in which an artist creates his work. The population in this research is that all of Arnis Muhammad's mural works for the 2017-2019 period are 51 works. In this study the authors took samples using purposive sampling technique. The reason for taking samples is the number of mural works that still exist and are still intact. There are 10 mural works in the research location. In this case, the writer examines these mural works based on their function and style. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The music we usually listen to in everyday life consists of either single melodies or harmonized melodies (i.e., of melodies “accompanied” by chords). However, differences in the neural mechanisms underlying melodic and harmonic processing have remained largely unknown. Using EEG, this study compared effects of music-syntactic processing between chords and melodies. In melody blocks, sequences consisted of five tones, the final tone being either regular or irregular (p = .5). Analogously, in chord blocks, sequences consisted of five chords, the final chord function being either regular or irregular. Melodies were derived from the top voice of chord sequences, allowing a proper comparison between melodic and harmonic processing. Music-syntactic incongruities elicited an early anterior negativity with a latency of approximately 125 msec in both the melody and the chord conditions. This effect was followed in the chord condition, but not in the melody condition, by an additional negative effect that was maximal at approximately 180 msec. Both effects were maximal at frontal electrodes, but the later effect was more broadly distributed over the scalp than the earlier effect. These findings indicate that melodic information (which is also contained in the top voice of chords) is processed earlier and with partly different neural mechanisms than harmonic information of chords.

Abstract Although the concept of flow at work is increasingly receiving scholarly attention, knowledge about the interaction between challenge and hindrance stress demands in the context of flow is still lacking. Moreover, little is known about the stress-relieving capacity of coping mechanisms in connection to work-related flow. The aim of our study is to investigate whether and how challenge stress demands are related to work-related flow, and whether this relationship is moderated by a three-way interaction between challenge stress demands × hindrance stress demands × use of humor/cynicism. For this study we use survey data from 265 employees of a financial service organization in the Netherlands. Results clearly indicate a positive linear association between challenge demands and work-related flow and a negative association between hindrance demands and flow. Support is found for an interaction effect between challenge and hindrance stress demands, showing that hindrance demands weaken the positive association between challenge demands and work-related flow. Finally, cynicism is found to alter this relationship between work stress demands and work-related flow, increasing the negative effect of hindrance demands and confirming the expected three-way interaction. Results from this study have implications for the theory on work-related flow and advance the challenge-hindrance stressors framework. Insights from this study suggest that managers who wish to foster work-related flow should be alert to the use of cynicism among employees and address organizational issues that cultivate the negative attitude underlying this.

This chapter examines the Medea of Roman painting. In some senses, this constitutes a crazy editorial decision: gems and sculpture, sarcophagi in particular, are a crucial part of the visual culture that pulls and pushes against text and theatre. But in other senses, a two-dimensional focus offers peculiar challenges that situate Medea firmly within the domestic sphere, in cubicula and peristyles; and yet also beyond this sphere. Unlike freestanding sculpture, which actively intervenes in the viewer's space, painting affords access to a parallel universe. Its figures are not cold to the touch like Pygmalion's statue. They are intangible, exciting different desires from those elicited by stone, desires which invite viewers to leave their world behind them; or at least to pause and take stock. In these ways, painting provides a commentary on everyday life—closer to performances on stage than to installation.Ancient writers, Ovid included, recognised this analogy between painting and theatre. In defending his work against charges of immorality, the exiled poet cites the genre of the mime, asking whether it is the stage that makes its adulterous content permissible and reminding Augustus that his poems had often ‘detained his eyes’, accompanied by dancing. He continues:scilicet in domibus nostris ut prisca uirorumartificis fulgent corpora picta manu, sic quae concubitus uarios uenerisque figurasexprimat, est aliquo parua tabella loco, utque sedet uultu fassus Telamonius iram, inque oculis facinus barbara mater habet, sic madidos siccat digitis Venus uda capillos,et modo maternis tecta uidetur aquis.

Each type of investment has different risks. However, the general rule is that the higher the likelihood of an investment the greater the risk of the instrument. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach. The data source is secondary data from the official BI website. OJK and BPS. This research covers all OJK mutual funds between 2015-2019. Sampling was done purposively. Data documentation is used for sampling. The results of the study found that the level of development has a negative effect on the results of fixed-income mutual funds, the lower the SBI, the worse the output of mutual funds that have fixed income will be; and inflation does not affect the FIM, because inflation represents a continuous increase in costs for products and services.
