The dynamics in forest management in general as well as in agroforestry are always associated with ecological and social changes. For more than 30 years, the common pattern of community forests especially in West Java applies a complex agroforestry pattern. Currently, one of the most popular trees is albizia (Falcataria moluccana). However, in the past years, gall rust attack becomes a serious problem for the farmers. By borrowing a resilience system approach, this paper describes how a complex agroforestry resilience system with albizia as the primary stand is working in relation to providing sustainable livelihoods so far for the complex agroforestry farmers with all the dynamics especially in the last 10-20 years particularly related to gall rust attack. By selecting a research site in the village of Kalijaya, Ciamis District, West Java Province, this paper aims to understand how the resilience system works in this landscape. The understanding will be a baseline propose some recommendations for the landscape of the villages of Kalijaya specifically and the same type community forests in West Java in general in order to make agroforestry landscapes remain capable or even improving the farmer livelihood by anticipating various threats that may occur in the future by taking into consideration the role that can be undertaken by agroforestry-related parties.

Abstract. Mulyanto D, Abdoellah OS, Iskandar J, Gunawan B. 2021. Ethnozoological study of the wild pig (Sus spp.) hunting among Sundanese in Upper Citarum Watershed area, West Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 22: 4930-4939. In the past, wild pigs had a high population in the rural ecosystem of West Java. However, the population of wild pigs, particularly Javan warty pig, decreases due to forest destructions and intensive hunting. This study aimed to elucidate the local knowledge on wild pigs, the mode of hunting, and diverse aspects of wild pig hunting. We conducted qualitative methods with ethnozoological approach, including participant observation and in-depth interview. The results showed that based on the local people the wild pig can be divided into four “races”, while based on zoology, two species of wild pig are documented in Java. During hunts all members get specific key roles. Thus, hunting success is increased by division of labor. Hunting wild pigs played an important role in socio-economic and cultural function for the village community. Due to intensive hunting of wild pigs, the population of these animals, particularly the Javan warty pig are decreased, and consequently the socio-economy of this animal in rural ecosystem may decrease ot even disappear.

AbstractThis paper examines the changing reputation of one village in Himachal Pradesh, India, looking back over 30 years. This village has long had a singular identity and local notoriety for its association with jadu (‘witchcraft’). I argue that in this village today the idea of ‘witchcraft’ as a potent malignant force is losing its old persuasiveness, and with this change the village is also shedding its unwanted reputation. Against claims for ‘the modernity of witchcraft’ in various parts of the world, I argue that, in this case at least, witchcraft is construed as distinctly unmodern. The capacity of jadu to cause fear and, equally, its value as an explanatory idiom are, I suggest, being overwhelmed by social changes, the cumulative effect of which has been to reduce the previous insularity of this village and greatly widen the social networks of its members. I pose two main questions. Why should this village have held such a particular reputation? And why should it now be on the wane? Linked to the second question is the relationship between this decline and local understandings of ‘modernity’. In developing my argument around the specificity of an unusual village, I also consider the significance of ‘the village’ as both social entity and, formerly, one cornerstone of the anthropological project. Finally, I reflect on the methodological opportunities of long-term familiarity with a setting, exemplified in the iterative nature of learning ethnographically, as the children known initially in early fieldwork become the adult conversationalists of today, partners in interpreting their own village's past. In exploring their explanations for the decline in the salience of jadu, the pivotal impact of education and the pressures of ‘time’ created by the ‘speed’ of modernity are both salient.

Villagers of Waringinsari, Sukoharjo sub-district, Pringsewu district, Lampung province grows and develops from voluntary migrants from Java. They are a group of marginalized people economically, politically, socially and culturally, so they expected so much when migrating to get a better life for his family. Residents who occupy Waringinsari village as the voluntary migrants are from different regions. They were farmers who had come from the felds of Java (Central, East and West) to gain ground as a new livelihood. The question is why with all kinds of differences in the Javanese sub-culture they could then dissolve together, and then they feel just as Javanese (in the sense of not distinguishing which Javanese origin). The research was carried out to get an answer whether janengan contributing music as media of entertainment, communication and propagation for villagers of voluntary migrants in the Waringinsari village, Suhoharjo Sub-district, Pringsewu district, Lampung province. This research is qualitative. The data obtained show that janengan music does really as alternative music that is able to show the identity of the people of Java. Janengan identifes the Javanese sub-culture from Kebumen which later became the common property of the voluntary migrants. They feel a sense of musical art is proven fact that until now is still a viable alternative entertainment. Janengan also contribute to the cohesiveness, and was able to eliminate the bulkhead sub-culture of their respective regions of origin. Music janengan is able to be an alternative as a cheap entertainment media, as a means of gathering spontaneous migrants thus establish communication in the period since the beginning of the village to the present, the past 60 years. In addition, the content ofthe janengan music lyric also provide a moral message that as human beings they are not arrogant, and ableto follow prophets. Janengan is able to instill the values to the younger generation so that they can becomegood human in morality as told in the poem of janengan.

According to recent surveys 80% of the primary, 90% of intermediate grade teachers, and 50% of all teachers base their instruction upon a single textbook; almost all questions arise from information in the textbook and most center on terminology; the common pattern of science instruction is assign, recite, test, and discuss the test, all based upon the textbook. The result of such instruction is that students demonstrate poor science achievement (both in terms of discipline specific knowledge and in terms of an ability to think and act in a scientific way) and poor attitudes towards science. In contrast, a number of excellent science K-12 programs have been developed in this country during the past 10-20 years and when used properly, achievement and attitude gains are considerable. Regrettably our system of district level control makes implementation of these superior programs difficult.

The demarcation of boundaries is an important feature of the Sundanese social and geographical landscape. Markers indicating the limits of territories, ceremonial areas and the like abound. Linguistic markers indicate interpersonal social boundaries. Boundaries are generally regarded as places of danger and various supernatural entities are said to guard those between any two spheres in general. On Java generally, regularly recurring anniversaries, such as Idul Fitri and 1 Sura, the Javanese new year are marked with significant ceremonies such as bersih desa or petik laut or, in the past, rampok macan protecting the village or realm from evil.Less immediately obvious are boundaries in time, marking the transition between zaman, or eras. A change in era is of a different kind from the cyclical changes since by its very nature it is a non-repeating event. The topic of this paper is one such change in West Java, the change from Hindu rule to Islamic hegemony, and the mythology which consequently arose, providing a supernatural explanation for this quite powerful event.

Penelitian terhadap naskah-naskah Sunda Kuno tidak begitu banyak karenajumlah penelitinya sedikit. Bahkan katalog yang khusus mencatat naskah Sunda Kuno dimasyarakat pun belum ada. Katalogisasi Naskah Sunda Kuno di Jawa Barat merupakanupaya menginventarisasi dan mendokumentasi naskah-naskah Sunda Kuno di masyarakat.Katalogisasi juga merupakan direktori penelitian yang dilakukan terhadap naskah SundaKuno sehingga menjadi pembuka jalan bagi para peneliti yang ingin menggali kekayaanintelektual masa lalu. Katalogisasi naskah Sunda Kuno dimulai dari koleksi KabuyutanCiburuy di Kabupaten Garut. Kabuyutan ini menyimpan kurang lebih 30 kropak naskahSunda Kuno yang diperkirakan ditulis pada abad XVI-XVIII Masehi. Sebagian besar naskahlontar ini kondisinya rusak parah dan perlu penanganan yang serius. Dari ketiga puluhnaskah tersebut baru 15 naskah yang dapat diidentifikasi dan dibuat deskripsi lengkapnya.Kata kunci: Naskah, Katalog, Bahasa, BudayaABST RACTWritten tradition is evidence of the development of civilization of a nation. OldSundanese manuscripts still existing today is a historical heritage of linguistic and culturaljourneys of the Indonesian Archipelago. Unfortunately, most of the manuscripts are notappropriately preserved and from time to time continue to be damaged. Furthermore,the research on the Old Sundanese manuscripts is not so many due to the limited numberof the researchers. Even a catalogue especially listing Old Sundanese manuscripts in thesociety has not been made yet. The existing catalogues have only listed the manuscriptskept by the official institutions such as libraries and museums. Cataloging the OldSundanese manuscripts in West Java is one of the efforts to inventory and document theOld Sundanese manuscripts that are still scattered in the society, both stored in customaryinstitutions and personal collections. Cataloging is also a research directory that has everbeen conducted on Old Sundanese manuscripts, so it can be a pioneer for researchers whowant to explore the intellectual property in the past. As the first stage, cataloging theOld Sundanese manuscripts is started from the collection of Kabuyutan Ciburuy in GarutRegency. Kabuyutan stores approximately 30 compartments (kropak) of Old Sundanesemanuscripts that are estimated to have been written in the 16 to 18 century AD. Most ofthese manuscripts are badly damaged and need to be seriously taken care of. From thethirty manuscripts, only 15 manuscripts can be identified and can be completely described.Keywords: manuscript, catalogue, language, culture

In the past decades, the harmony of body and soul was getting more and more important,the balance, the self-confidence, and the positive-being, which is supported mostly by health tourism,so this section is improving with huge steps to serve the increasing needs fluently. For the effect of the consecutive social changes, the rules of genders have also changed. At the same time changes could be realized in the consumption habits of different genders. The resource took place from September to December 2018. It happened with a questionnaire survey; we asked the customers of hotels in the Northern Great Plain Region, and the answering was optional – they do it on their own choice. We investigated the participants' data through different dimensions and look for the answer to the question along these dimensions that which specifies had the service customers.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is one of the common urologic neoplasms, and its incidence has been increasing over the past several decades; however, its pathogenesis is still unknown up to now. Recent studies have found that in addition to tumor cells, other cells in the tumor microenvironment also affect the biological behavior of the tumor. Among them, macrophages exist in a large amount in tumor microenvironment, and they are generally considered to play a key role in promoting tumorigenesis. Therefore, we summarized the recent researches on macrophage in the invasiveness and progression of RCC in latest years, and we also introduced and discussed many studies about macrophage in RCC to promote angiogenesis by changing tumor microenvironment and inhibit immune response in order to activate tumor progression. Moreover, macrophage interactes with various cytokines to promote tumor proliferation, invasion and metastasis, and it also promotes tumor stem cell formation and induces drug resistance in the progression of RCC. The highlight of this review is to make a summary of the roles of macrophage in the invasion and progression of RCC; at the same time to raise some potential and possible targets for future RCC therapy.

Chapter 1 introduces the long and difficult process of the theoretical legitimation of the political party as such. The analysis of the meaning and acceptance of ‘parties’ as tools of expressing contrasting visions moves forward from ancient Greece and Rome where (democratic) politics had first become a matter of speculation and practice, and ends up with the first cautious acceptance of parties by eighteenth-century British thinkers. The chapter explores how parties or factions have been constantly considered tools of division of the ‘common wealth’ and the ‘good society’. The holist and monist vision of a harmonious and compounded society, stigmatized parties and factions as an ultimate danger for the political community. Only when a new way of thinking, that is liberalism, emerged, was room for the acceptance of parties set.

When a group or institution issues a declarative statement, what sort of speech act is this? Is it the assertion of a single individual (perhaps the group’s spokesperson or leader) or the assertion of all or most of the group members? Or is there a sense in which the group itself asserts that p? If assertion is a speech act, then who is the actor in the case of group assertion? These are the questions this chapter aims to address. Whether groups themselves can make assertions or whether a group of individuals can jointly assert that p depends, in part, on what sort of speech act assertion is. The literature on assertion has burgeoned over the past few years, and there is a great deal of debate regarding the nature of assertion. John MacFarlane has helpfully identified four theories of assertion. Following Sandy Goldberg, we can call these the attitudinal account, the constitutive rule account, the common-ground account, and the commitment account. I shall consider what group assertion might look like under each of these accounts and doing so will help us to examine some of the accounts of group assertion (often presented as theories of group testimony) on offer. I shall argue that, of the four accounts, the commitment account can best be extended to make sense of group assertion in all its various forms.
