Multimodal freight transport in cities is a complex, valid, and vitally important problem. It is more seldom underlined in scientific studies and included in cities’ strategies that devote more attention to passenger transport than freight transport. The increased utilization of multimodal transport matches current transport policy and at the same time, it is one of the most important challenges put before cities striving to achieve sustainable development. In this case, the paper embarks upon the problem of relations between multimodal transport development and the sustainable development of the cities. The objective of the paper is an analysis of the impact of the selected city of the Upper Silesian metropolis on the development of multimodal freight transport and an assessment of the impact of the development of multimodal transport on the sustainable development of the cities of the Upper Silesian metropolis. The authors developed three research questions in order to implement the adopted objective. The process of looking for the answer included four stages. Within the first and second stages, the literature studies and experts’ research allowed for identifying key factors of the multimodal transport development that a city may have an impact on. In the third stage, the research was two-fold and was based on a questionnaire and scenario analysis. Due to the individual character of each of the cities, scenarios were developed for Katowice, being the main economic center of Upper Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolis. As a result of the research, factors have been identified that must be included in a strategy of a city that strives for sustainable development. The last stage of the research focused on the initial concept of the multimodal transport development impact assessment on sustainable development of the cities. Conclusions developed at individual stages allowed for answering the research questions.

Online shopping has tremendous growth nowadays. Concerns about whether people perceive food souvenirs as commercial goods or products with local connections arise when shopping online for those souvenirs. Another concern is whether people remain interested in knowing or visiting places where food souvenirs originate even if they can simply purchase food souvenirs online. These issues are important for the sustainable development of local tourism. This study aims to investigate consumers’ motivations for purchasing food souvenirs online and whether differences exist between segmented consumers in relation to their travel-related intentions. Participants of this work are individuals who have purchased food souvenirs online and are aged 18 years old or above. Social media applications, such as Facebook and Line, were utilized as the platforms for the questionnaire survey. Participants’ motivations for purchasing food souvenirs online included five factors: exploring trends, local affiliations, social interactions, frugal sampling, and enforcing relationships. According to their motivations, participants were segmented into four types of consumers, including pleasure reminiscers (47.0%), journey recallers (22.9%), economical tasters (17.4%), and social practicers (12.7%). Pleasure reminiscers have stronger intentions toward searching for information on, traveling to, and recommending the places where food souvenirs originate compared with the other three types of consumers. On the basis of the findings, suggestions for the design and marketing of food souvenirs are provided for the producers of food souvenirs and promoters of local tourism.

Abstract The stability of the financial systems is an objective necessity for the sustainable development of each national economy. Within this framework, ensuring financial stability is a priority for the central banks and for the other macro-prudential supervisory and regulatory authorities. In order to ensure the stability and "the health" of the national financial system, the competent authorities should analyze, assess and adopt optimal and timely measures to eliminate potential imbalances. These and other aspects are the main objectives of our research.

Archaeological Heritage in the Context of Sustainable Development The concept of sustainable development is widely declared and used in contemporary scientific discourse. Sustainability also refers to cultural and archaeological heritage. What is an important element of the contemporary conservation doctrine is a departure from the idea of protection of archaeological heritage in favour of the rational management of such heritage, in accordance with the sustainable development rationale. It follows from the premise that, on the one hand, heritage is a subject of protection, but, on the other hand, it constitutes potential that should be adapted to new conditions and used for cultural, social, and economic development. With the above-mentioned concept as a starting point, the paper is aimed at analysing the role that archaeological heritage resources can play in the context of sustainable development. As an example of good practices implementing the idea of sustainable development based on archaeological resources, I take and discuss archaeological tourism, because it aims to promote public interest in archaeology and the protection of archaeological sites.

Abstract The article discusses the performance of the Family Centers of Formation by Alternation (CEFFAs). Through a case study, it was analyzed how much the School Agricultural Family (EFA) called Itapirema, located in the city of Ji-Paraná, State of Rondônia/Brazil, has contributed for the practices of sustainable rural development of the Central Territory in the State of Rondônia. In the theoretical framework are identified the main environmentalist visions, approaches of sustainable development and the concepts of education for the sustainable development. Data extracted from EFA Itapirema’s documents, treated by means of analysis of the content, permitted to identify the predominant conception of sustainable rural development in the school curriculum. By interviews and field observations were investigated the areas in which their ex graduates are acting and was analyzed how much those ex graduates and their families are aligned with the proposal of the School. The result indicates that the environmentalist approach of the School is inserted in a conception preservationist: the proposal of rural development embodies conceptions of sustainabilism and socio-environmentalist in a balanced form. However, it was identified in practice this equilibrium has not been achieved, because the conception sustainabilist has not being satisfactorily performed by the ex graduates and their families. Thus, the EFA Itapirema School’s proposal does not have practical consequence for rural sustainable development in the region where it acts, because it is much more based in its "being" than on its "doing".
