The Effect of Aerobic and Anaerobic Physical Training on the Absorptive Cells, Absorption of Carbohydrate and Protein in Small Intestine

The purpose of this study is to investigate the morphofunctional response of a total number of absorptive cells, and carbohydrate and protein absorption capability in the small intestine of Rattus norvegicus strain Wistar (RNSW) that has been subjected to aerobic and anaerobic physical training based on the morphofunctional physiological paradigm. This study was based on the separate sample pretest-posttest control group design, using a t-test, and multivariate SPSS ten program, with five percent level of significance. The sample consisted of one hundred and twenty, male RNSW, with average age of five months, and body weight of 246-278 grams. They were divided into twelve groups at random, i.e. four pretest groups, two control groups, and six treated groups where different diets were given thirty minutes before undergoing posttest. The experimental animals underwent four weeks physical training (twelve times), three groups were given aerobic physical training by swimming with a burden of three percent fasting body weight, the others three groups received anaerobic physical training by swimming with a burden of nine percent fasting body weight. The experiment was conducted at night, between 7.30 PM to 10.30 PM, in a water with a temperature of    28°C to 30°C. Result of the study revealed: (1) Aerobic and anaerobic physical training, increased the number of absorptive cells (t = -73,281, p = 0,000), and increased the absorptive capacity of carbohydrate and protein (Hotelling’s Trace = 0,244, p = 0,000). (2) There was a difference in the increased absorptive capacity of carbohydrate and protein among groups (Hotelling’s Trace = 0,404a, p = 0,000). Aerobic physical training had less influence than anaerobic physical training on the increased number of absorptive cells, and the absorptive capacity of carbohydrate and protein in the small intestine. In conclusion: (1) Aerobic physical training of swimming with a burden of three percent fasting body weight, and anaerobic physical training of swimming with a burden nine percent fasting body weight correlate with the increase the number of absorptive cells, and carbohydrate and protein absorptive capacity of the small intestine. (2) Anaerobic physical training of swimming with a burden nine percent fasting body weight has better correlation than aerobic physical training of swimming with a burden of three percent fasting body weight with the increased number of absorptive cells, and the absorptive capacity of carbohydrate and protein in the small intestine.

Tempe is a well known fermented soybean food, inexpensive, and a good source of dietary protein and energy. To improve fresh Tempe as an attractive food to children, Tempe is processed into nugget. A study using pre and post control group design was conducted to determine the effect of the Tempe nugget provision on energy and protein intake, and body weight/age (W/A) of 24-59 months old children. Forty six subjects were selected according to inclusion criteria from local Community Health Center (Puskesmas) and grouped into intervention (provision of Tempe nugget) and control group (no provision). Data of energy and protein intake of subjects before intervention were obtained by 2x24 food recall to determine deficiency in intake for the respective age. The amount of the nugget given to each underweight child in intervention group was calculated on the basis of deficiency in energy and protein intake of each child (W/A) per day. Body weight was recorded pre and post intervention. The deep-fried nuggets contained 276.53 calories per 100 g, 8.60% protein, 28.41% carbohydrate, 13.28% lipid, and 44.28% fiber. The mean age of the subjects in intervention and control group were homogeneous i.e. 40.52±10.88 months and 42.39±12.35 months respectively. Tempe nugget provision for 30 days improved significantly energy intake (p 0.001) in intervention compared to control group. Protein intake and W/A in intervention group were higher compared to control although not significant and further study with higher amount of Tempe nugget provision is needed. This study provides evidence that deep fried Tempe nugget can be used as inexpensive and nutritious food to improve protein and energy intake for underweight underfive children.

This research was aimed to find out (1) whether the use of e-portfolios is more effective than the use of e-dialogue journals, (2) whether the use of e-portfolios is more effective than the use of conventional assessments, (3) whether the use of e-dialogue journals is more effective than the use of conventional assessments, and (4) the most effective assessment of all in the teaching of writing skills. This study was a quasi-experimental research using Pretest-Post-test Control Group Design. The data were collected in January-February 2016 in SMK Penerbangan Adisucipto Ardhya Garini. The sample of the research was the students of class X3, X4, and X8 which were determined by using cluster simple random sampling. There were four hypotheses of this study and the research findings revealed that the hypotheses were accepted. It was indicated by all of the Sig values which were lower than the level of significance (0.05).

ABSTRAK Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan dari penggunaan model Problem Based Learning berbasis lingkungan terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas X-AP mata ajar Sanitasi, Hygiene dan Keselamatan kerja di SMK Pariwisata Triatma Jaya Singaraja Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah Non equivalent Only Control Group Design. Objek dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas sampel, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Metode pemilihan sampel penelitian adalah dengan teknik random sampling. Proses pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen tes untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa, kemudian melakukan pengujian hipotesis dengan menggunakan teknik uji-t. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diperoleh thitung 7,641 dan ttabel (pada taraf signifikansi 5%) = 3,460. Hal ini berarti bahwa thitung> ttabel, sehingga dapat diinterpretasikan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap hasil belajar siswa X AP Di SMK Pariwisata Triatma Jaya Singaraja antara kelompok siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan Problem Based Learning berbasis lingkungan lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan metode konvensional. Dilihat dari hasil perhitungan rata-rata hasil belajar Sanitasi, Hygiene dan Keselamatan kerja kelompok eksperimen adalah 81 lebih besar dari rata-rata hasil belajar Sanitasi, Hygiene dan Keselamatan kerja kelompok kontrol yaitu 76 Kata kunci: Hasil belajar Sanitasi, Hygiene dan Keselamatan Kerja, Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) Berbasis Lingkungan ABSTRACT The study aimed at finding out the difference of implementation of problem based learning model with environmental basis towards the achievement of class XAP students on the subjects of sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety at SMK Pariwisata Triatma Jaya Singaraja on the academic year 2018/2019. The research was designed with non equivalent only group control. The objects were two classes of samples, namely controlled and sample classes. Random sampling method was apllied to determine the sample of the research. The data were gathered by using test to find out the achievement of the students , then examining the hypothesis was done by implementing t-examiner technique. The results show that tvalue is 7,641 and ttable (at level of significance 5%) = 3,460. It means that tvalue> ttable. It can be interpreted that there is a significant effect towards the students’ahievement of class X AP at SMK Pariwisata Triatma Jaya Singaraja. The group of students that were treated with Problem Based Learning with the environmental basis got the mean score 81 for sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety, it is higher than those who were treated with conventional method (controlled group).Key words : achievement, sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety Model

<p>Oxidative stress is related to pregnancy complications that could increase maternal and infant mortality. This study aimed to determine the effect of propolis extract supplementation during pregnancy on oxidative stress level and pregnancy outcomes utilizing Malonedealdehyde (MDA) and 8-Oxo-2′-Deoxogunosine (8-OHdG) levels, maternal body weight, and the average number of fetuses as the parameters. The study was conducted by using a posttest only control group design on 24 pregnant Wistar rats, which were divided into four groups. Group I was control, Group II-IV were the treatment groups given propolis extract of 1.8mg, 3.6mg, and 7.2mg/200gBW/day, respectively. The standard feed given was AIN93G dose of 20g/day and distilled water ad libitum. Propolis extract was given using a gastric feeding tube every morning for 20 days. At the end of the treatment, body weight was meisured and blood collected for assessed MDA and 8-OHdG levels  by ELISA method  and then we performed abdominal surgery to count number of fetuses. The result are there were decreasing level of MDA and 8-OHDG by administration of propolis significantly (p&lt;0.05) group: I: 2,04±0,091, II: 1,55±0,067, III: 1,05±0,176, IV: 0,73±0,075 (mmol/mL) (p=0.001); 8 OHdG level (ng/mL) group I: 10,02±0,403, II: 8,60±0,078, III: 7,89±0,051, IV: 7,53±0,063 (p=0,001). Average of maternal body weight (g) were increased: group I: 228,33±3,93, II: 237,17±4,36, III: 244,83±4,02, IV: 248,00±5,76 (p=0,001) and Average number of fetuses tend to increased as well, group I : 8,5±0,05, II: 7,8±0,41, III: 9,5±1,05, IV: 9,6±0,52 (p=0,02). The conclusion of this research are supplementation of propolis extract in pregnant rats can reduce oxidative stress and improve pregnancy outcomes.</p>

The aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of Baby Spa on the growth of body weight and body length in infants aged 3-12 months. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design with control group design. The number of respondents as many as 70 respondents consisting of 1 group (35 respondents) with Baby Spa treatment and 1 group (35 respondents) was a control group without treatment. Data analysis using the MANCOVA test. The results of the study are Baby Spa effective for the growth of body weight and body length in infants aged 3-12 months. The conclusion that Baby Spa can be used to stimulate the growth of a baby's body weight and body length, but needs to pay attention to balanced feeding factors. The use of Baby Spa needs coordination between midwives and other health workers. Midwives must also provide health education about Baby Spa to stimulate baby growth so that babies can grow optimally.

Abstract Chronic heat stress is considered to decrease the immune functions which makes negative effect on broiler growth performance. Here, we investigated the relationship between chronic heat stress, growth performance, and immunity in the small intestine of broilers. The study included two groups (control and heat stressed group) with eight replications per group. Ten broilers of 20-day aged were allocated in each replication. On day 35, the treatment group was subdivided into two groups based on their body weights (heavy and low body weight). Although, there was only the control and treatment group on day 28. The growth performance decreased and expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70), HSP60, and HSP47 increased on days 28 and 35 in the chronic heat stress group as compared with those in the control group. The expression levels of HSPs were significantly higher in the low body weight group than in the control group. The genes HSP70 and HSP60 were significantly associated with pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines in the small intestine of the broilers of the treatment group. Thus, HSP70 and HSP60 activated the adaptive immunity in the small intestines of the broilers from the treatment group to allow adaptation to chronic heat stress environment.

<p>This study aimed at finding out the effect of Integrated feedback on Classroom climate of secondary school teachers. This research is experimental in nature. Non-equivalent control group design suggested by Stanley and Campbell (1963) was used for the experiment. Integrated feedback was treatment and independent variable, Classroom climate was dependent variable and pre- Classroom climate, and Intelligence were considered as covariates. The sample of the study comprised of 77 secondary school teachers and 220 students studying in secondary classes from purposively selected four schools of Indore city. The data for Classroom climate, Job satisfaction and Intelligence were collected through standardized tools. One-way ANCOVA and 2X2 factorial design ANCOVA were used for data analysis. Hypotheses were tasted at level of significance with α = 0.05. It was found that the treatment has significant effect over Classroom climate when pre- Classroom climate was taken as covariate. The results also shown that Classroom climate was independent of the treatment when Intelligence and pre- Classroom climate were separately considered as covariates. In addition, classroom climate was also found independent of interaction between feedback and intelligence when pre – Classroom climate was taken as covariate.</p>

Background: Osteoarthritis is a major cause of many medical conditions and disability in people above 50’s and leads to reduced activity in older people. Global statistics revels that over 100 million people worldwide suffers from Osteoarthritis. Materials and methods: A quasi experimental pretest - posttest control group design was used. 200 geriatric clients with osteoarthritis residing in selected geriatric homes at Pathanamthitta were selected and assessed by using a Numerical Pain Intensity Scale, an Observational check list and a three point rating scale for pain, functional mobility and anxiety. Results: There was a significant difference between the mean pain score( t = 10.758 p = 0.01, df – 198), functional mobility ( t = 7.73 p = 0.01, df – 198) and anxiety (t = 7.665 ,df –198, p=0.01in experimental and control group after intervention ( t = 10.758 p = 0.01, df – 198).Statistically no significant association was found between pain, functional mobility and anxiety with variables such as gender, religion, marital status, number of children’s and duration of stay.The pain and anxiety correlation value was ‘r’ = 0.89. The functional mobility and anxiety correlation value was ‘r’ = 0.80. The functional mobility and pain correlation value was ‘r’ = 0.83. It shows that statistically positive correlation is present between the geriatric clients’ pain and anxiety, functional mobility and anxiety and functional mobility and pain at p<0.05% level of significance. Conclusion: Exercise is one of the best methods to treat Osteoarthritis. This study proved that isometric exercises are beneficial to improve the functional mobility of joints in old age people. When the mobility increases, intensity of joint pain decreases.

AbstractObjective. This study investigated whether the metformin (Met)-induced enhanced intestinal uptake of 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-D-glucose (18F-FDG) is reduced by loperamide, a long-acting anti-diarrheal agent. Methods. Mean18F-FDG uptake in the mouse small intestine and colon with Met exposure was compared with that in control mice. In the Met group, high-dose (1.0 mg/kg body weight) and low-dose (0.1 mg/kg body weight) loperamide were introduced, and18F-FDG uptake in the small intestine and colon was compared with that of control mice administered high-dose loperamide. The percent injected dose of18F-FDG per gram of tissue (%ID/g) in the extracted tissues was then determined. Results.18F-FDG uptake increased significantly in the small intestine (0.64±0.06 vs. 1.01±0.15, p=0.040) and, especially, the colon (0.46±0.13 vs. 2.16±0.51, p<0.001) after Met exposure. Neither high-dose nor low-dose loperamide significantly reduced18F-FDG uptake in the small intestine (0.82±0.31 vs. 0.84±0.22, p=0.93 and 0.78±0.25 vs. 0.70±0.15, p=0.13, respectively) or colon (2.13±0.41 vs. 1.67±0.55, p=0.063 and 1.77±0.39 vs. 1.80±0.25, p=0.56, respectively). The colonic %ID/g was significantly higher in Met groups irrespective of loperamide introduction than in control group, whereas the significant difference in the small intestine was observed only between Met and control groups. Conclusion. Metformin increased18F-FDG uptake in intestines especially in colon. Loperamide administration partially, but not sufficiently, suppresses the Met-induced increased colonic uptake of18F-FDG.

The condition of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) with poor nutritional status will slow down the healing period. Overcoming malnutrition in pulmonary tuberculosis patients is carried out by providing supplementary food (PMT), especially those based on local food ingredients. In addition to needing additional foods rich in macro nutrients, TB sufferers also need micronutrients that can trigger increased body immunity, such as vitamin C. This study aims to see the effect of giving cohi fish biscuits and vitamin C on the weight of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in Percut Sei Tuan District in 2019. The design of this study was a quasi experimental pretest-posttest control group design which was carried out in Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra starting from May-July 2019. Subjects were 52 new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis patients with malnutrition who were divided into three groups: 16 people in the first group who received 100 g/day of cohi fish biscuits, 16 people in the second group who received 100 g/day of cohi fish biscuits and 500 mg/day of vitamin C, and 20 people in the control group. The treatment was carried out for 30 days. Giving 100 grams of cohi fish biscuits contributed 583.29 kcal of calories, 15.32 grams of carbohydrates, 25.54 grams of protein and 46.65 grams of fat. Statistical test using one-way ANOVA, the results obtained were no difference in pre-test weight of patients with pulmonary TB (p=0.616), there was no difference in post-test body weight of patients with pulmonary TB (p=0.674), there was a difference in changes in patient weight. Pulmonary TB (p=0.00). There was an increase in body weight in the second group of 0.7 kg, and even though there was no increase in body weight in the first group, giving cohi fish biscuits was able to withstand the weight loss compared to the control group. The conclusion of this study is that cohi fish biscuits and vitamin C can be an alternative to PMT to increase the weight of patients with TB.
