Pinrang Regency is a center of brackish water pond aquaculture production in South Sulawesi Province in which some of brackish water pond farmers in this regency have adopted Good Aquaculture Practices (GAqP). A study was conducted to determine GAqP adoption level, to identify GAqP aspects required to be improved, and to determine the category of GAqP adoption level as the first step to maximize the GAqP adoption level in the brackish water ponds. Primary data were obtained from 76 respondents consisted of pond farmers who already have adopted and or obtained GAqP certificates. On the basis of the adoption level, the adoption level classification is carried out into three categories, namely low adopters, medium adopters, and high adopters. The results showed that the highest GAqP adoption levels in brackish water ponds were in food security (89.41%) and technical aspects (78.57%). The lowest GAqP adoption levels were in management (8.71%) and environmental aspects (0%). It was also reported that the GAqP adoption level in brackish water ponds varied from 40.58 to 67.01% with an average of 42.86% and was categorized as moderate adopters. Based on this study, management and environmental aspects were found to be the aspects that need serious attention to increase the GAqP adoption level in the brackish water ponds.

Fishery development in Province of South Sulawesi can be devided into two categories, they are marine culture and fisheries, include wild fishery and aquaculture. One of aquaculture is brackish water pond. There are several kinds of fish that can grow in brackish water pond, such as milkfish. Milkfish is a potential commodity which is not only for consume but also for export to abroad. The aim of this research is to knowing the factors which affects the production of milkfish in fishpond. The basic research which used is Explanatory Research. This research takes place in Ma’rang subdistrict Pangkep District. The population is all fisherman which total there are 804 fishermen. Simple random sampling is used to get 80 fishermen as samples. They are consist 57 fishermen in Talaka Village and 23 fishermen in Pitue Village. Primary data is gathered by doing interview with the fishermen. This research is used Cobb-Douglas function for analysis. The results of this research show variable of area of fish raising place, young milkfish, fertilizer, burden and region dummy are have significant effect toward production of milkfish in brackish water pond, while labour, feed, age and experience have no effect toeard production pf milkfish in brackish water pond.

Salah satu lahan yang bisa dikembangkan untuk budi daya tambak adalah tanah sulfat masam. Di Indonesia potensinya cukup luas dan umumnya lahan semacam ini berada di kawasan pesisir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi kelayakan lahan tanah sulfat masam untuk pertambakan dan optimalisasi pemanfaatannya berdasarkan tingkat kesesuaian lahan dan daya dukung lingkungan. Penelitian dilakukan di Kabupaten Luwu Timur, Sulawesi Selatan. Metode penelitian dengan melakukan survai untuk mendapatkan data primer. Sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh dari instansi terkait dan peta yang diperlukan untuk proses analisis dengan Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG). Analisis data melalui tumpang susun dari beberapa peta dan data primer pada setiap pengamatan dengan mempertimbangkan pembobotan dan skala penilaian untuk mendapatkan nilai skoring dalam menentukan kesesuaian lahan budi daya tambak. Hasil analisis kelayakan lahan untuk tambak didapatkan nilai potensi dan kelayakan seluas 5.617,9 ha yang terdiri atas 709,4 ha kelayakan tinggi; 3.947,7 ha kelayakan sedang; dan 960,7 ha kelayakan rendah.One of land that can be developed for brackish water aquaculture is acid sulfate soil. The potency of acid sulfate soil in Indonesia is relatively large and generally found in coastal area. The objectives of this research to know the potency and land suitability of acid sulfate soil for brackish water aquaculture and optimal utilization based on land suitability level and its carrying capacity. This research was conducted at Malili Sub District; East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi. Surveys have been done collected primary data. while secondary data was obtained from related Institution and needed maps for Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis, with overlying maps and primary data in each station observation with considering and assessment scale value of determining land suitability for brackish water pond. The result of maps analysis had been obtained the potency and land suitability at Malili Sub district were 5,617.9 ha consisted of 709.4 ha (high suitability); 3,947.7 ha (moderate suitability); and 960.7 ha (low suitability).

ABSTRACTIn applying traditional brackish water pond aquaculture of tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon), plankton is one of water micro organisms that plays an important role as natural food and stability indicator of water or aquatic environment in which life and growth of aquatic organisms depend on water quality variables, both physical and chemical properties. This research objective was to find out the effects of dominant water variables on plankton abundance in brackish-water pond. The research was conducted in traditional brackish water ponds of tiger shrimp in Pasuruan Regency, East Java Province. The research was conducted through direct measurements in the field and also collection of plankton and water samples. Those were then analyzed in the laboratory. Better change to analysis used in this study was regression model analysis was based on the smallest square method. Dependent variables was plankton abundance and independent variables were the water quality variables such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, salinity, pH, total suspended solid (TSS), nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, phosphate, iron (Fe), and total organic matter (TOM). The result showed that range of plankton abundance was 20.0-6,360 individuals/L with average 401.3 individuals/L. There was a significant relationship between plankton abundance and TSS which negatively affected plankton abundance as much as 0.52 or 52%. Based on index values of average dominance, variety, and uniformity, the brackish water pond water or aquatic area in this study was categorized as moderately stable, where plankton genera were well distributed and there was no genus dominating other genus.

Keberhasilan budi daya tambak udang windu pada awal tahun 1990-an menyebabkan terjadinya pertambahan luas tambak yang cukup besar di Sulawesi Selatan termasuk di Kabupaten Pinrang. Untuk mendapatkan data perubahan luas dan luas tambak terkini di kabupaten tersebut maka dilakukan validasi luas tambak melalui pemanfaatan citra satelit. Citra satelit yang digunakan adalah Landsat-7 ETM+ akuisisi 2002 dan 2005 yang selanjutnya dilakukan klasifikasi. Sedangkan untuk data sebelumnya yaitu tahun 1991 digunakan peta rupabumi Indonesia yang didigitasi dan dilakukan analisis spasial dengan menggunakan SIG. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa luas tambak di Kabupaten Pinrang pada tahun 1991 adalah 7.490,805 ha dan meningkat pada tahun 2002 dan 2005 menjadi berturut-turut 13.366,086 ha dan 14.569,180 ha. Penambahan luas tambak di Kabupaten Pinrang sebagian besar berasal dari konversi sawah dan sebagian lagi berasal dari konversi penggunaan lahan lainnya yang ada di kawasan pesisir.The successful of tiger prawn culture in the brackish water pond in the early of 1990s to cause expansion of brackish water pond area in fairly large in South Sulawesi including Pinrang Regency. To find data of area changing and updating data of brackish water pond area in this regency, was conducted the validation brackish water pond area with satellite image. Satellite image which used was Landsat-7 ETM+ acquisition 2002 and 2005. Satellite image was classified, while the early data, in 1991, was used maps of rupabumi Indonesia that was digitized and conducted spatial analysis with GIS. The results of analysis show that brackish water pond area in Pinrang regency in 1991 was 7,490.805 ha and increased up to 13,366.086 ha and 14,569.180 ha in 2002—2005, respectively. The addition of brackish water ponds area in Pinrang Regency was mainly came from conversion of paddy field and it remaining was from the other land uses type of coastal zone.

Currently, abrasion at the northern coastline of Central Java, Indonesia, is severe. One of the biggest abrasion area is in Kaliwlingi village (Brebes District), where 800 ha of brackish water ponds were submerged. Abrasion could wipe away or damage dykes on brackish water pond and the pond can no longer be used for aquaculture production. A 5 000 m2 of netting broken dyke of brackish water pond is used for semi–intensive cultivation of milkfish, tilapia, vanamae shrimp, green mussel and Gracilaria seaweed as an application of Integrated Multi Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) concept. The aim of this study was to determine the aquaculture production in abraded dyke on brackish water pond by measuring the growth of milk fish, tilapia, vaname shrimp, green mussel and Gracilaria based on IMTA concept. The study was carried out from May to July 2015 at Kaliwlingi Village, Brebes district. The results showed Specific Growth Rate (SGR), i.e. milk fish 2.35 % d–1; tilapia 3.8 %·d–1 vanamae shrimp 3.75 % d–1; green mussel 2.8 % d–1 and Gracilaria 4.6 % d–1. Based on the result, the water quality is good and the availability of the natural food can support the growth of milkfish, tilapia, vanamae shrimp, green muscle and seaweed at broken dyke ponds with IMTA concept.

Studi kesesuaian potensi pertambakan dilakukan di 3 Kecamatan Kabupaten Kotabaru, Kalimantan Selatan, meliputi: Kecamatan Pulau Laut Utara, Pulau Laut Tengah, dan Pulau Laut Barat. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui potensi dan tingkat kesesuaian lahan budi daya tambak di Kabupaten Kotabaru, Kalimantan Selatan. Metode penelitian dengan melakukan survai untuk mendapatkan data primer. Data sekunder diperoleh dari wawancara pemilik/pembudi daya tambak dan data stastistik serta Laporan Tahunan Kabupaten Kotabaru, Kalimantan Selatan. Analisis data untuk mengetahui potensi dan kesesuaian lahan budi daya tambak dengan Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG). Tingkat kesesuaian budi daya tambak diperoleh dengan cara tumpang susun beberapa peta dan data primer pada setiap pengamatan dengan mempertimbangkan pembobotan dan skala penilaian untuk mendapatkan nilai skoring. Hasil analisis potensi dan kesesuaian tambak di 3 Kecamatan Kabupaten Kotabaru mempunyai tingkat kesesuaian sedang. Potensi kelayakan lahan untuk tambak di Desa Stagen Kecamatan Pulau Laut Utara seluas 2.548,8 ha dengan teknologi budi daya tambak sistem ekstensif hingga semi intensif, Desa Sungai Pasir dan Sungai Paring Kecamatan Pulau Laut Tengah seluas 57,9 ha dengan teknologi budi daya ekstensif hingga semi intensif. Desa Sebanti Kecamatan Pulau Laut Barat seluas 516,8 ha dengan teknologi ekstensif hingga ekstensif plus.Land suitability study of brackish water pond was conducted at 3 District in Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan were Pulau Laut Utara, Pulau Laut Tengah, and Pulau Laut Barat. The objectives of research to know land suitability and management for brackishwater pond in Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan. Survey has been done collected primary data. Data analysis to know of potency and land suitability for pond with Geographical Information System (GIS), with overlying maps and primary data in each station observation with considering and assessment scale value of determining land suitability for brackish water pond. The result of research that potency and land suitability of 3 District in Kotabaru Regency were moderate suitability. Land potency in Stagen and Sungai Paring Villages, Pulau Laut Utara District can reach 2,548.8 ha with application extensive until semi intensive technology. Sungai Pasir Village, Pulau Laut Tengah District can reach 57.9 ha with application extensive until semi intensive technology. Sebanti Village, Pulau Laut Barat District of 516.8 ha with application extensive until plus extensive technology.
