This paper aims to analyze the sinergity of Islamic organisations (Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah) towards the development of Islamic Economy in Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative method. This type of research is literature analysis. Data is collected and analyzed from the main sources of Islam (i.e. Qur'an and Hadith) and previous research studies related to Islamic organizations in Indonesia. The authors find that Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah are the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia which have their own characteristics. Both of these organizations have a distinction in the methods of da'wah and mass bases. The synergy of Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah through da'wah methods and mass bases can develop Islamic economy in Indonesia. The authors argue that in the future it may be necessary to have a deeper synergy between activists, administrators, and followers of Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah. This paper is the pioneer to analyze the sinergity of Islamic organizations towards the development of Islamic Economy in Indonesia.

The article presents the relationship between the Internet, the state and politics. It starts from describing similarities between politics and social aspects of the Internet. This is described in the context of Web 2.0, collective intelligence, informal circuits of cultural content and multitasking. Then two perspectives of the functioning of the Internet in the contemporary state and politics are shown. The first, which is a top-down perspective, describes the concepts of e-government and e-participation. The second one, which is bottom-up, refers to new types of election campaigns as well as the role of new media in social change. In conclusion, there are some questions regarding cyberdemocracy and digital citizenship.

This study is about the potential prejudice sparked internal conflict of Muslims, especially between the group Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and the Council of Tafsir Al-Qur'an (MTA) in Surakarta. Lately there is a conflict between NU and the MTA congregation. MTA is questioned by NU in some areas because of the materials and methods of preaching/dakwah considered to be provocative and less likely to appreciate the difference fiqhiyah and abusive deeds done by NU. From the reason above, the conflict between these two Islamic organizations appeared. One of the triggers that caused the internal conflict among Muslims is the certain group of Muslims can not understand well the other religious groups, which have different ideological backgrounds; that it affects the way of thinking, behaving and acting that are different from themselves. As a result, the internal relations marred by religious conflict, caused by the internal religious prejudice. Similarly, the possibility that occurred among the group of NU and MTA.

***

O Professor também atua como Senior Research Associate na University de Johannesburg, na África do Sul, e dirige o projeto internacional intitulado “Critical Perspectives on New Media and Processes of Social Change in the Global South”, com foco no Quênia.

The aim of this paper is to analyze mood, epistemic and deontic modality patterns in an extract culled from Yellow-Yellow (2006) by one of the Nigerian new millennium female writer, Kaine Agary. The findings data revealed by the interpersonal meaning analysis are discussed against the backdrop of critical discourse analysis and womanist theory. The discussion contended that, despite the blend of monologic and dialogic organization of the novel, Kaine Agary has tried to portray the sociological schisms making up the daily life of young girls in the oil-resourced region of Nigeria. More importantly, the authoress has shown women’s determination and commitment to support Zilayefa to succeed in achieving good results in education while the major male character goes against this developmental stream flow by impregnating her. The mood and modality choices operated show some kind of power and hierarchy relations and conflicting ideologies between Sisi, Lolo, Zilayefa and Admiral. The discursive interpretation eventually found out that the interpersonal meaning description and critical discussion can properly work together towards achieving consensus. It is agreed that the hidden authorial ideology behind Kaine Agary’s fictional text is geared towards a pro-women social change for a more balanced African society. This is, of course, the gist priorities and great topical issues calling for urgent response at this time.
