<p>Our research examines the problem of multiple lines of reasoning reaching the same conclusion, but only through different and unrelated arguments. In the context of non-monotonic logic, these types of conclusions are referred to as floating conclusions. The field of defeasible reasoning is divided between those who claim that floating conclusions ought not to be accepted through a prudent or skeptical point of view, whereas others argue that they are good enough conclusions to be admitted even from a conservative or skeptical standard. We approach the problem of floating conclusions through the formal framework of Inheritance Networks. These networks provide the simplest and most straightforward gateway into the technical aspects surrounding floating conclusions in the context of non-monotonic logic and defeasible reasoning.  To address the problem of floating conclusions, we construct a unifying framework of analysis, namely, the Source Conflict Cost Criterion (SCCC), that contains two basic elements: source conflict and cost. Both elements are simplified through a binary model, through which we provide a comprehensive understanding of the floating conclusions as well as the problematic nature of the debate surrounding this type of inferences. The SCCC addresses three key objectives: (a) the assessment of floating conclusions and the debate surrounding its epistemological dimension, (b) the construction of a general and unified framework of analysis for floating conclusions, and (c) the specification of the normative conditions for the admission of floating conclusions as skeptically acceptable information.</p>

The article is devoted to the analysis of the system object from the point of view of design from design, sociocultural and philosophical positions. The authors systematize the definitions of a system object of design proposed in the 1960–1980s by theorists and practitioners, art historians, cultural experts and philosophers from different countries, including Russia, which allows a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of design culture. This article is devoted to the characteristic properties of the system object in design. They were considered and analyzed on the example of the «Absheron» design-program when designing of agricultural village). This concept was developed at the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Technical Aesthetics (VNIITE) in 1983. Using the same example, the features of the approach to designing a system object in design was observed not only as a separate product, but as a sociocultural situation that constantly changes at each design stage.

The article deals with standards of professional preparation of doctors in the scope of speaking and writing Polish. The thesis of the article is that this requirement is one of the elements of professional preparation which is not limited to knowledge but includes specific skills. Defining the threshold of minimum linguistic competence is a subtle matter. The study draws attention to the necessity of pragmatic approach to these requirements to the extent necessary to practice as a doctor or dentist. From the point of view of the doctor’s rights, a lot depends on the procedure of verifying the command of Polish language. Therefore, attention was paid to the jurisprudence of administrative courts in this area.

We study the time-dependent Schrödinger equation with matrix-valued potential presenting a generic crossing of type B, I, J or K in Hagedorn's classification. We use two-scale Wigner measures for describing the Landau–Zener energy transfer which occurs at the crossing. In particular, in the case of multiplicity 2 eigenvalues, we calculate precisely the change of polarization at the crossing. Our method provides a unified framework in which codimension 2, 3 or 5 crossings can be discussed. We recover Hagedorn's result for wave packets, from Wigner measure point of view, and extend them to any data uniformly bounded in L2. The proof is based on a normal form theorem which reduces the problem to an operator-valued Landau–Zener formula.

Abstract: This article aims to elaborate on the Quran as the basis of Islamic epistemology in building science. The concept of science in the Quran, from the point of view of philosophy. Framework used to analyze this theme is the philosophical framework. In the paradigm of philosophy, science concepts can be classified in three dimensions; the first, an epistemological dimension, namely the study of philosophy from the aspect of how to acquire knowledge. Part of this philosophy is called the theory of knowledge, namely methodology to gain knowledge or science, or how to obtain a true knowledge; second, the ontological dimension, namely the branch of philosophy that discusses the object of study of science, or the nature of the study of science; and the third, axiological dimension, namely the branch of philosophy that discusses the purpose and use value and the value of the benefits of science. Part of this philosophy better known as the theory of value. And what about his role in building the Islamic sciences in Islamic universities in particular and in the Islamic world in general.

The Internet provides a space for network users to communicate freely. The desire of network users to express their thoughts, imagination and self-knowledge is reflected in the slang on the Internet and social networks. The language of the Internet appeared as a product of the network, formed its own characteristics in the process of use and acquired its own pragmatic function. These qualities have made it an important tool of modern communication and a cultural carrier. The pragmatic approach to the recipient of information is an important function of any language communication. Although the root of Chinese Internet slang comes from Chinese, it gives a completely different meaning and character as a network language than literal, which requires a pragmatic study to understand. From the point of view of the speaker and the listener, people's speech actions are considered as social behavior governed by various social conditions. It is aimed at explaining that the use of special words in a particular environment can determine the meaning of the text, affect all aspects, and thus determine the pragmatic rules. Before using a slang word, any network user should pay attention to its meaning, as it can also have a negative connotation.

When developing a software system, there are a number of principles, paradigms, and tools available to choose from. For a specific platform or programming language, a standard way can usually be found to archive the ultimate system; for example, a combination of an incremental development process, object-oriented analysis and design, and a well supported CASE (Computer-Aided Software Engineering) tool. Regardless of the technology to be adopted, the final outcome of the software development is always a working software system. However, when it comes to software reengineering, there is rather less consensus on either approaches or outcomes. Shall we use black-box or white-box reverse engineering for program understanding? Shall we produce data and control flow graphs, or some kind of formal specifications as the output of analysis? Each of these techniques has its pros and cons of tackling various software reengineering problems, and none of them on its own suffices to a whole reengineering project. A proper integration of various techniques capable of solving a specific issue could be an effective way to unravel a complicated software system. This kind of integration has to be done from an architectural point of view. One of the most exciting outcomes of recent efforts on software architecture is the Object Management Group’s (OMG) Model-Driven Architecture (MDA). MDA provides a unified framework for developing middleware-based modern distributed systems, and also a definite goal for software reengineering. This chapter presents a unified software reengineering methodology based on Model-Driven Architecture, which consists of a framework, a process, and related techniques.

Mobile advertising holds strong promises to become the most highly targeted advertising medium offering new ways to target messages to users. By utilizing mobile advertising, companies can run marketing campaigns targeted to tens of thousands of people with a fraction of the costs and time in comparison to other direct marketing mediums. However, as mobile advertising is a novel approach, many aspects of it still need further investigation. Little is known regarding the effectiveness of mobile advertising campaigns and the factors contributing to their success. This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the advertising space and its influencing factors. First, the study investigates factors that influence mobile advertising from both the industry’s and consumer’s point of view. Second, based on a review of previous studies in the field, the author proposes a conceptual model for mobile advertising, which categorizes the factors in different groups and provides a holistic view of their impact in the mobile advertising space.

Preference for curved over sharp-angled contours is a well-known effect. However, it was quite unexplored during the 20th century and only a few sporadic studies dealt with it. Nevertheless, there has been renewed interest in this topic over the past two decades. This interest has come from two perspectives, one related to the current experimental aesthetics and the other from different applied approaches: marketing, packaging, interior design, and security perception, among others. Quite a few studies have demonstrated the effect with different stimuli, conditions, and participants. However, a comprehensive understanding of this effect is still lacking. We present the salient issues of the current studies in order to provide a more complete picture of this phenomenon. The applied research line is a promising field to combine with research from experimental aesthetics. Finally, we indicate a few challenges that experimental research should address to achieve a unified framework for a better understanding of the curvature effect.

The paper is related to viewing the genesis and prospects for the development of one of the most important branches of philosophy - the philosophy of technology. The authors begin their survey with the time when a grounding of the philosophy of technology was given, i.e. when technology became comprehensible in terms of a philosophical and philosophical point of view until such extended studies concerned to the technology that developed into one of the most dominating factors in social development. It is reported that exact antipodes of opinion were made up in the classical philosophy of technology. Criticism of technology lasted long till its sacral significance and understanding technological reality requirements. Finally, it culminated in creating various approaches to study technology: engineering, humanitarian, social and philosophical. However, a pragmatic approach to the technology observation and development outcomes developed gradually. The paper comes to the point that contemporary philosophy of technology is harmonious and holistic in nature.
