Telemedicine is defined as remote diagnose and patient care using telecommunications technology.  Recently telemedicine technology was introduced to the field of veterinary medicine.  Due to the nature of telecommunications, a veterinarian will utilize telemedicine technology as a means of assessing patient severity and providing medical advice.  The perception of veterinarians, especially small animal practitioners, to telemedicine is influenced by many factors, for example: age, desire (expectation), attention (focus), information obtained, and other factors.  This study aims to determine the factors that influence veterinarians' perceptions of telemedicine.  This research is expected to be an input in implementing telemedicine in practice.  The design of this study is descriptive method, where the sampling method uses a questionnaire filled out by small animal practitioners online.  The results showed that the pandemic had no impact on veterinary services. But there is an adaptation of practice procedure.   Respondents are neutral towards the application of telemedicine, but the majority of respondents who have implemented telemedicine think that the application of telemedicine has a good impact on health services. There are many obstacles felt by respondents in implementing telemedicine.

We examined differences in valued Big Five personality traits of small animal veterinarians between members and nonmembers of the veterinary medicine community. Between fall 2019 and spring 2020, data were collected from an online survey sent to eligible persons across a US midwestern state. Eligible persons included veterinary office clients (i.e., pet owners) and persons practicing/training in veterinary medicine. Participants completed demographic questions and 10 Likert scale items about which Big Five personality characteristics they prefer in a veterinarian. Descriptive data were determined and checked for assumptions of linearity and normality. Data for the primary analyses were analyzed using Spearman’s correlations and Kruskal–Wallis H tests. Participants who were members of the veterinary community of practice valued the characteristic openness more than clients but valued emotional stability less than clients. Moreover, tests revealed that young adults (aged 18–24) valued extraversion more than all other age groups but least valued agreeableness. Last, participants aged 55 and older valued agreeableness and emotional stability more than the 18–44 age groups. Findings indicate individuals from different membership and age groups have varying preferences in what personality traits they expect in a veterinarian. Clients care more about their veterinarian being able to handle adversity. Older adults want their veterinarian to be trusting and creative. These findings encourage veterinary medical education to spotlight the development of skills congruent with these desired personality traits. Gaining such skills will be useful for veterinarians who seek to grow or build lasting relationships with clientele and colleagues.

One of the utilization of coastal and ocean environment is the development of electric steam power plant since the water required for the operational comes from seawater. The disposal location of the used seawater is in the form of waste heat, streamed into the ocean; therefore it caused the rise of sea-level temperature. The rising sea level temperature will affect the organism on those waters; one of them is phytoplankton. Phytoplankton is an autotroph organism that contains chlorophyll pigment so it can do photosynthesis process using the sunlight. This research aims to study the abundance of phytoplankton in waters around electric steam power plant Tambak Lorok Semarang. The method used in this research is the explorative, descriptive method, while the sampling method is purposive sampling. The highest phytoplankton abudance in Tambak Lorok Waters is located on the third station with 4035,7 Ind/L, while on the second station is 2812,7 Ind/L and the lowest abundance is on the first station with only 1494,7 Ind/L. The increase of sea-level temperature is up to 5OC with the temperature value reached 36,2OC on the first station that located 300 m from the power plant outfall. The temperature then drops 3OC with the value of 33,7OC on the second station. The temperature then drops on the third station with the value of 32,8OC where it’s closed to average sea level temperature, which is 31OC. It can be concluded that the abundance of phytoplankton decreased along with the increase of sea level temperature in Tambak Lorok Waters.

Public health belongs to the “One Health” umbrella. As military veterinary medicine evolved, it became embedded in national security. Many armed forces still have active veterinary services, both regular and reserve components. The military veterinarian can serve as an interface between civilians and civil organizations, can handle complex and interdisciplinary cases. Introducing the “One Health” concept both in practice and education has encountered many difficulties. Over time, “One Health” has been judged to be a “buzz word” in civilian areas; however, it is a weighty concept. Its importance is pronounced in military areas where practicing along One Health principles were present before the appearance of the term itself. Nevertheless, military “One Health” has not penetrated into the overwhelming “One Health” literature. Emphasizing the military aspects of One Health not only reveals an obscure corner but might help to regain the proper importance of the “One Health” concept.
