Environmental management, especially the water resources sector in Indonesia is experiencing greater pressure from the use of environmental resources compared to efforts to improve environmental quality. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) has collaborated with society through communities to combine the concept of riparian planning with efforts reducing the pollution load from domestic waste and making the place a center for education and environmental conservation, this concept is called ecoriparian. One of the locations planned for ecoriparian planning is located in the Ciliwung Watershed, located in Babakan Pasar Village, Central Bogor District, Bogor City, West Java. This area is located in a densely populated settlement with a strategic location and is thick with pluralistic values. The approach used in this research refers to Gold's (1980) design process, this stage starts from preparation, inventory, analysis, synthesis, concept and design. The results of this research are expressed in the form of a concept and visual design of the Babakan Pasar Ecoriparian Park which develops potentials on the site, the landscape design uses the Chinese and Sundanese cultural approach as outlined in the spatial concept of elemental form and color selection. In this research, is expected the exsistence of this ecoriparian park can improve the quality of the Ciliwung River, change the mindset of the community regarding river preservation and add to the aesthetic value of an area. Keywords: Environmental Management, Riparian Planning, Watershed.

The article presents selected methodological assumptions of developing and evaluating landscape attribute maps that could be used in the process of the implementation of the European Landscape Convention (ELC). The Convention led to the passing of the Act of 24th April 2015 on the modification of some acts due to the enhancement of landscape protection tools. Article 7 implements changes in the Act of 23rd March 2003 on spatial planning and land use management. Determining general rules for landscape auditing and defining the priority landscape are elements of the changes. On 11th September 2015, the regulations that partially carry out the recommendation of the Convention entered into force. The regulations oblige local governments to conduct landscape auditing (not less often than every 20 years). The article presents a new method for evaluating the aesthetic-scenic value of landscape (EEVL), developed by the author on the basis of conceptual works done between 2004 and 2008. Tests of this method started in 2008. Then an assessment of the aesthetic value of the municipality of Pozezdrze in the Masurian Lake District was made. The three measurements, collected in 2008, 2012 and 2016, were then used in comparing the dynamics of landscape transformations considering the aesthetic value over 8 years. The research enabled the assessment of the usefulness of the method in landscape auditing.

The paper describes the results of a research activity on the design of a positioning system which includes both a physical 3-DOF and virtual platforms which carries out a Desktop Haptic Interface (DHI). The positioning system allows the user to interact with a virtual shape through a combination of linear and rotation motions, some of them driven by the user and some driven by the virtual shape. On the other hand, by rendering a physical 2D cross-section through the DHI permits the assessment of virtual prototypes of industrial products with aesthetic value. Typically, virtual objects are modified several times before reaching the desired design, increasing the development time and, consequently, the final product cost. The desktop haptic system (which includes the positioning system and the DHI) that we propose here, will reduce the number of physical mockups during the design process allowing designers to perform several phases of the product design process continuously and without any interruption. In particular the system is developed with the aim of supporting designers during the evaluation of the aesthetic quality of a virtual product.

Chapter 8 explores how a fascination with a “native language” emerged in literary circles through a simultaneous indebtedness to traditional British prose and verse forms, and Anglo-American linguistic affiliation with indigenous-language roots. By 1815, the “Historical and Literary Committee of the American Philosophical Society” would declare this “native language” a uniquely “American idiom” to be discovered on the American continent through the “numerous novel forms” of Indian languages. In his early novels, James Fenimore Cooper seized upon the aesthetic value that could be constructed from Indian languages and from the figure of the noble savage. I show how Cooper’s novels build upon beliefs in the prelapsarian quality of indigenous languages. I argue that the regenerative potential that Cooper’s novels portray as arising from Indian words functions as aesthetic compensation for the violence and repeated violation of treaty agreements that characterized US and Indian relations in the early nineteenth century.

An important topic in evolutionary art is the development of systems that can mimic the aesthetics decisions made by human begins, e.g., fitness evaluations made by humans using interactive evolution in generative art. This paper focuses on the analysis of several datasets used for aesthetic prediction based on ratings from photography websites and psychological experiments. Since these datasets present problems, we proposed a new dataset that is a subset of DPChallenge.com. Subsequently, three different evaluation methods were considered, one derived from the ratings available at DPChallenge.com and two obtained under experimental conditions related to the aesthetics and quality of images. We observed different criteria in the DPChallenge.com ratings, which had more to do with the photographic quality than with the aesthetic value. Finally, we explored learning systems other than state-of-the-art ones, in order to predict these three values. The obtained results were similar to those using state-of-the-art procedures.

It is shown that the real measure of the aesthetic value of systems, products and technologies, in contrast to the general measure, is in constant development, reflecting the corresponding changes in the aesthetic tastes and perceptions of consumers. It is substantiated that a full aesthetic measure is formed on the basis of a real aesthetic measure, taking into account the universally valid aesthetic and cultural values that characterize the aesthetic ideals of society in the field of culture, art, artistic design, ergonomics and design. The variants of the interaction of ergonomists and designers at various stages of ergodesign are considered. The nomenclature of aesthetic indicators of the quality of systems, products and technologies, such as the integrity of the composition, the rationality of the organization of form, artistic expressiveness, is given. Recommendations are developed on procedures for expert evaluation, aesthetic properties of systems, products and technologies using the theory of odd sets.

The study was designed to examine the relationship between features of forests and the quality of forest landscapes, and to determine the strength of effect of the features in the aesthetic value of the landscape. The methodology applied to assess forest landscapes took into account the following features: forest site humidity, age of forest, terrain slope, site index of stands, species composition of the tree layer, under-story cover, colour and composition, mosaic-like, as well as horizontal structure of the tree stands. The study was conducted in temperate forests located in Central-Eastern Europe – more precisely – in south-eastern Poland. In the investigated area the dominating tree species are: Pinus sylvestris L., Abies alba Mill., Fagus sylvatica L. and Quercus L. They cover 42.2%, 20.8%, 20.4% and 6.5% of the total forest area, respectively. The findings show that nearly 1% of the area of the examined forests within the relevant territory are characterized with very high landscape value, over 67% with high, 31% with medium, and less than 0.5% with low landscape value. A strong relationship occurs between terrain slope vs. aesthetic quality of landscape as well as forest site humidity vs. aesthetic quality of landscape. Weak effect was observed for site index of stands vs. aesthetic quality of landscape, and moderate relationship was identified in the case of the remaining features. The findings show the strength of relationship between the features of forests and the aesthetic quality of landscapes, consequently providing a tool for forest managers to develop attractive forest landscapes in selected areas.

<p>The study was conducted aiming to find the aesthetic values that exist in the mosque building ornament in the city of Padang. The development and spirit of changing times has accompanied the development of the Mosque in Padang City, not only in the function and role of the Mosque, but also seen from the model of the mosque building and ornaments attached to the building. To achieve this goal the approach used in this paper is the aesthetic approach, and multi-disciplinary approach. The aesthetic value of mosque building ornaments can be viewed through the quality structures that make up beauty; first, unity; that each element in the mosque's ornament is a unified and mutually supportive unit, summarized in the quality of art consisting of rhythm, lines and shapes. Second, harmony (harmony); placement of motifs on the mosque building shows harmony by considering the balance between the shape of the motif with the field of placement. Third; symmetry; Almost all the ornaments contained in the mosque building contain symmetrical elements in vertical and horizontal forms. Symmetry can be seen in the motif lines and also the building lines themselves. Fourth; balance (balance); Mosque ornaments in the city of Padang, has three types of balance, namely; symmetrical balance, asymmetrical balance, and centering balance. And the fifth resistance (contras); the contrast does not only occur because of differences in the size of the motif, the contrast can also be seen from the shape and color of the ornament attached to the mosque building.</p>
