The purpose of this study is to analyze and determine the development of market orientation and entrepreneurial orientation and their effects on the marketing performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Bengkulu Province. This research is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The sampling method used non probability with judgmental techniques (purposive) with a total sample of 270. The results showed that SMEs in Bengkulu Province had run their business with market orientation and entrepreneurial orientation in good categories. When viewed from the marketing performance, most of them have achieved a fairly good level of performance as well. For this reason, if we look at the influence between variables, market orientation and entrepreneurial orientation have a positive and significant effect at the marketing performance of SMEs in Bengkulu Province. This means that the better market orientation and entrepreneurial orientation, the better marketing performance for SMEs in Bengkulu Province. BACKGROUND: Presenteeism is generally viewed as a symptom of organizational or individual dysfunction and is rarely considered as a behavioral response to positive triggering factors. Our study examines this issue in small enterprises (SEs), which are an unexplored environment in terms of presenteeism. OBJECTIVE: Through in-depth analysis, this study aims to understand the positive and negative factors that impact presenteeism in the context of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), with a particular focus on SEs. METHODS: We adopt a qualitative methodological approach in which we conducted 17 semi-structured interviews with employees and owner-managers of SEs with between 20 and 49 employees. RESULTS: Our thematic analysis shows that presenteeism can be explained by factors related to pressure to attend work, by individuals’ constraints and commitment, by organizational and individual characteristics and by a congenial work environment. Presenteeism can also be a type of “therapy” which helps individuals to avoid focusing on being sick and enables them to stay active and avoid social isolation. CONCLUSIONS: Our study differs from earlier research by providing a more in-depth analysis of the positive and negative factors that trigger presenteeism. This article will help to expand the current theoretical knowledge about presenteeism and encourage a more holistic interpretation of the phenomenon.

Entrepreneurial Marketing (EM) Dimensions play a critical role in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) performance. The extant study explored the effect of EM dimensions on the performance of SMEs operating within Nasarawa State, Nigeria. EM was conceptualized as innovativeness, risk-taking, and value creation. The research population was 1979 registered SMEs in Nasarawa state, Nigeria. The sample size was 322 which was determined using Raosoft sample size calculator. Out of 322 sets of questionnaire distributed, 136 were validly filled and returned. The data collected were analyzed using Regression Analysis technique to test the study’s hypotheses using Statistical Product and Service Solutions software. Results specify that all three of the EM dimensions under study have significant effect on SME performance. In terms of contribution to the model, the explanatory variables were able to contribute 62.1 percent to the variable of interest (SME performance). On individual basis, innovativeness explained the most to the criterion variable. The findings of this study offer important insights for owners and managers of SMEs, researchers, and policymakers to further understand the effects of EM dimensions on SMEs’ performance. SMEs should be encouraged to embrace the entrepreneurial dimensions of innovativeness, risk taking, and value creation to increase business performance.

// The participation of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the market, was a goal almost unattainable, because there are requirements to be met most of whom could not be fulfilled. Mejia (2007), points out that the obstacles to entering the stock market are the reasons why SMEs ask for traditional credit as a financing source. That is why this paper aims to develop the operational scheme of syndicated issues of obligations as a financial instrument for SMEs in the metalworking sector in Guayaquil, Ecuador. To achieve this objective, a comparative descriptive study was carried out using the survey technique; In addition, secondary sources such as web portals, bibliographic review, and others were used. The findings identify that SMEs were financed exclusively from suppliers, due to the restriction of bank loans; however, other forms of financing have been recognized, such as the Ecuadorian stock market.

The number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) factually increased in recent years due to several factors such as the imbalance between demand and supply for the workplace. According to various literature study, entrepreneurs are related to the individuals' capacity and characteristics in exploiting market opportunities. The previous studies showed that entrepreneurs need to determine individual characteristics for proceeding with other strategies. Therefore, there are particular characteristics related to business activities that need to be possessed by prospective entrepreneurs. This research aims to reveal the entrepreneurship characteristics with a behavioral approach. Data were collected from 5 entrepreneurs in Bangkalan Regency using the purposive sampling technique. The result showed that entrepreneurial behaviors are either active or passive. In addition, the existence of competitors is not considered a threat to independence in developing business ideas.

The existing literature on internationalization and purchasing is vast; however, the inward internationalization perspective is an under-researched topic. In this chapter, the authors review the literature on internationalization of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to understand the main reasons behind international purchasing and the role of experience on internationalization. Using a survey and descriptive statistics, the results from 56 respondents show that SMEs source from a small number of countries and hold those relationships for several years. The main reasons underlying international purchases are lower prices and better product quality, regardless of goods availability on the domestic market. This chapter has some limitations concerning its exploratory nature, pertaining to its sample size. Some future research avenues are presented such as a deeper look on how internationalization processes differ when SMEs begin their activity by inward rather than by outward activities.
