- The aim of the present research is to investigate the relation between beliefs about sexuality, cognitive factors, emotional factors, and erectile dysfunction. 15 adult males (aged 29-66) with psychogenic erectile dysfunction were compared with 15 adult non-dysfunctional males (aged 29-71) with regard to their beliefs in sexual myths, their expectations, and their emotions during sexual activity. Erectile dysfunction was assessed by SDI (Sexual Dysfunction Interview) and measured by the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF). Beliefs about sexuality, as well as cognitive and emotional factors of sexual function were measured respectively by Sexual Dysfunctional Beliefs Questionnaire (SDBQ) and Sexual Modes Questionnaire (SMQ). Results show in dysfunctional group an higher level of dysfunctional or irrational beliefs, of negative emotions and automatic thoughts during sexual activity. Beyond this, our data show high correlations between automatic thoughts and sexual functioning, and between worry and sexual functioning These results emphasize the role of cognitive-emotional processes on erectile dysfunction development and maintenance.

The purpose of this study was to determine the place and role of sexual disorders in representatives of different sexes and ages in the development of background for cerebral stroke pathology and the formation of the clinical picture of acute stroke period and its consequences. Questions of intimate life of 111 patients (58 men and 53 women) in the periods preceding a stroke were considered in detail and possible connections with clinical features of an acute period of in-Soult were defined. In 77 of these 111 patients, we studied the dynamics of sexual disorders in connection with the features of a functional defect that formed 3-24 months after a stroke. It was revealed that the decrease in sexual activity before the stroke has a distinct significance along with age in the development of background for insulin pathology and in the formation of the consequences of stroke. In the elderly, the most severe functional consequences of stroke were formed in 8,3 % in the presence of normal sexual relations in the period preceding the stroke and in 27,6 % in the absence of such. Negative dynamics of sexual activity after a stroke was detected in 46,8 % of cases, mainly among the elderly, and is associated in women with the presence and severity of neurological deficits, in men-with the presence of cerebral atrophic changes.

Abstract Situated within a series of river journeys, this inquiry considers the role of material landscape in shaping learning possibilities and explores practices of reading landscapes diffractively. We consider ways we might pay attention to the ever-changing flux of places while experimenting with posthuman pedagogical praxis. Methodologically, we embrace the post-qualitative provocation to do research differently by enacting a new empiricism that does not ground the inquiry in a paradigmatic structure. In doing so, we rethink conventional notions of method and data as we create a series of short videos from footage recorded during canoeing journeys with tertiary outdoor environmental education students. These videos, along with a student poem, form the empirical materials in this project. Video allows us to closely analyse more-than-human entanglements, contemplating the diverse ways we can participate with and read landscapes in these contexts. We aim to provoke diffractive thought and elicit affective dimensions of material encounters, rather than offer representational findings. This project intends to open possibilities for post-qualitative research, inspired by posthuman and new materialist orientations.

This chapter introduces emotional and cognitive control skills to children, instructing them to understand their own and others’ emotions, and the role of various types of thoughts. It provides a discussion on approaching others to discuss feelings, automatic thoughts, and muscle relaxation techniques. Activities to help a child learn these skills include: making a list of emotions; identifying clues to how someone feels; and connecting events, thoughts, and feelings. The chapter includes explanations of automatic thoughts, how thoughts are associated with emotions, and how different emotions (negative/positive) lead to different actions. These activities are explained using forms provided in an appendix.

Theological reflection on Catholic sexual ethics has traditionally placed much focus on the male experience. Magisterial teaching has often suggested a limitation of light intercourse to penile-vaginal penetration that is open to procreation and within the context of marriage. However, a contemporary understanding of the female orgasm raising questions about the role of mutuality and pleasure in sexual relationships. According to the 1990 <em>Kinsey Institute New Report on Sex</em>, between 50 percent and 75 percent of women who report no orgasm as a result of penile penetration experience normal orgasms as a result of other forms of stimulation. In light of this statistics, penile-vaginal intercourse may not be sufficient for a good sexual relationship. The writings of contemporary moral theologians open up conversation for a more explicity just framework for sexual ethics.

Biodiversity conservation issues are adequate topics of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), as they involve ecological, economic and social aspects. But teaching about these topics often challenges teachers due to high factual complexity but also because of additional affective dimensions. As a consequence, teacher professional development in ESD should address these affective components, to better qualify and motivate teachers to integrate conservation issues into their teaching. To investigate behaviourally relevant factors, we selected the context of natural remigration and conservation of the grey wolf (Canis lupus) in Germany and surveyed 120 pre-service biology teachers (M = 23.2 years, SD = 3.3 years) about contextual factors and their motivation to teach about the issue. Participants reported more positive attitudes, higher enjoyment and an increased perceived behavioural control towards teaching the issue in future teachers when they perceived a smaller psychological distance to the issue and an overall higher motivation to protect the species. As this motivation was grounded in more fundamental personality characteristics like wildlife values and attitudes towards wolves, we discuss the central role of these traits as a basis for transformative learning processes and the necessity of a holistic and subject-specific teacher professional development in ESD.
