scholarly journals Implications of Green Management Practices in the RMG Industries of Bangladesh- An Environmental Sustainability Perspective

As of today, the whole world is riddled with a major dilemma whether it goes with gigantic industrialization or ensuring environmental sustainability. At the cost of a green environment, infrastructural development means no dependable future. Therefore, this study aims to examine the implications of green management practices in the readymade garments industries of Bangladesh. The perspective of the study entails environmental sustainability in such a way that depicts the perception of employees towards green management practices. In order to conduct this study, 100 respondents have been selected and all of them are employees in a similar type of RMG industry. For the analytical purpose, Henry Garret’s table rating scale has been utilized because it not only provides clear responses from the selected respondents but also subjective judgment. The study explored four important impact factors that play a vital role in the context of environmental sustainability such as the development of green management practices, motivating employees towards green management practices, enabling participation in green opportunities, and last but not least continuous maintenance of green attitude. After substantial analysis, the study concluded that the investment in green management system development, recording and publicly disclosing green job performance, participatory involvement in green discussions, and having a specific code of conduct for green management are the most important ones arising from implications of green management practices.

Majority of the corporates in UAE are adopting environmental management activities and processes every year as a part of the social responsibility. Many researchers are conducting researches and coming up with interesting and informative findings on how the environmental practices act as a major objectives in the functioning of the organization. This also helps us to recognize the importance of green human resources and green human resource practices and policies that will help in the successful promotion and implementation of environmental management activities. There has been a debate and discussion how to get the organizational workforce involved in the implementation of the green management practices. This research article will discuss the green HRM practices that are developed and identify how they are implemented in the UAE Higher Education. In this research paper, the researcher emphasizes on studying the employee awareness and level of acceptance on the implementation of green HR practices in UAE higher education institutions. This researcher paper has enabled the investigator to also identify the HR components where Green HRM faces resistance to change, like selection, performance appraisal and a few other mundane activities. The study of the Green HRM practices and their implementation in UAE Higher Education Institutions is ideal and timely with growing importance of environmental sustainability. Green branding marketing techniques have become a popular area of research; however, the use of 'green' terms confuses both businesses and customers. This has resulted in consumers becoming more suspicious about the validity of green marketing and green management practices. The objective of this chapter is to outline the concepts of green marketing and green management in detail to clearly demonstrate how they can effectively achieve their aims of ensuring environmental sustainability. An analysis of current extant literature will be explored, and successful green approaches will be used to develop a theoretical framework for green marketing, green management, and sustainability to foster a more climatic conditions-sustainable economy. The literature in this chapter indicated the need for understanding the impact of green marketing and green management on the sustainability of the financial services sector in order to provide recommendations that can direct funding more effectively towards climate-resilient activities and a more climatic conditions-sustainable economy.

Background: Cerebrovascular pathologies and hypertension could play a vital role in Alzheimer disease (AD) progression. However, whether cerebrovascular pathologies and hypertension accelerate the AD progression through an independent or interaction effect is unknown. Objective: To investigate the effect of the interactions of cerebrovascular pathologies and hypertension on AD progression. Method: A retrospective longitudinal study was conducted to compare AD courses in patients with different severities of cerebral White Matter Changes (WMCs) in relation to hypertension. Annual comprehensive psychometrics were performed. WMCs were rated using a rating scale for Age-related WMCs (ARWMC). Results: In total, 278 patients with sporadic AD were enrolled in this study. The mean age of the patients was 76.6 ± 7.4 years, and 166 patients had hypertension. Among AD patients with hypertension, those with deterioration in clinical dementia rating-sum of box (CDR-SB) and CDR had significantly severe baseline ARWMC scales in total (CDR-SB: 5.8 vs. 3.6, adjusted P = 0.04; CDR: 6.4 vs. 4.4, adjusted P = 0.04) and frontal area (CDR-SB: 2.4 vs. 1.2, adjusted P = 0.01; CDR: 2.4 vs. 1.7, adjusted P < 0.01) compared with those with no deterioration in psychometrics after adjustment for confounders. By contrast, among AD patients without hypertension, no significant differences in ARWMC scales were observed between patients with and without deterioration. Conclusion: The effect of cerebrovascular pathologies on AD progression between those with and without hypertension might differ. An interaction but not independent effect of hypertension and WMCs on the progression of AD is possible.

Encompassing firms to apply green policy in a holistic management practices are strongly required in order to maintain competitive advantages and experience long-term marketing performance. This current empirical research is aimed to fill the lack of empirical findings and empirical studies on firm's innovative concept. Green-based product innovation, green management practices and green corporate image are presented as the antecedents and postulated as the sources of sustaining firm competitive advantages. A questionnaire-based survey was deployed to collect data from Large Scale Enterprises in Indonesia with Top Management, Operational and Marketing Managers served as respondents. 500 questionnaires were mailed and 388 were valid for further analysis. Data was analyzed by using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) via AMOS statistical software. Statistical findings demonstrated that green-based product innovation, green management practices and green corporate image significantly has a positive affect to sustain firm competitive advantages which is led to enhance long term marketing performance. However, green-based product innovation plays insignificant direct relationship on long term marketing performance. This study discusses some managerial implications for enterprises and recommendations on a basis of green implementation.

Information system maintenance is an important aspect of information system development, especially in systems that provide dynamic content, such as Web-based systems and Knowledge Management Systems (KMS). Design for Maintenance (DFM) is an approach that argues that maintenance effort should be considered during the design of information systems in addition to the usual system design considerations. This research examines how the design of links among knowledge documents in a KMS affects both their maintenance and use. We argue that providing links among knowledge documents increases the cost of maintenance because when a document changes, the documents that link to and from that document are more likely to need changes. At the same, linking knowledge documents makes it easier to locate useful knowledge and thus increases use. We examine this tension between use and maintenance using 10 years of data from a well-established KMS. Our results indicate that as the number of links among documents increases, both maintenance effort and use for these documents increase. Our analyses suggest two DFM principles for dynamic content in practice. First, knowledge coupling (i.e., linking) to documents internal to the KMS rather than sources external to the KMS better balances maintenance effort and use. Second, designing small, knowledge cohesive documents (e.g., 250-350 words) leads to the best balance between maintenance effort and use.

The fundamental objective of the Government's industrial relations policy is to encourage and assist Australian companies and their employees to adopt work and management practices that will strengthen their capacity to compete successfully both in domestic and international markets. To this end we support co-operative and equitable workplace bargaining, with wage increases being linked to the reform of work practices and attitudes. Our support for decentralised bargaining is aimed at improving productivity by fostering a new workplace culture of striving for continuous improvement. We emphatically reject the view that such an outcome will be achieved by wholesale deregulation and reliance on unfettered market forces. The Government is committed, for both equity and efficiency reasons, to maintaining the Accord approach to wages policy. We are also committed to an independent Australian Industrial Relations Commission playing the vital role of protecting lower paid employees through the safety net of minimum award wages and conditions.

According to the feature of the JBPM workflow system development, the target code generated is determined by analyzing the process of JBPM workflow development and the architecture of J2EE. The code generation tool generates code by parsing the static form source code and loading the code generation template. The code generation tool greatly shortens the JBPM workflow system development cycle and reduces the cost of software development which has the good practicality and scalability.

Gaushalas play a vital role in safeguarding the cattle wealth of our country. It is primarily occupied with providing shelter to cows and is catering mostly the needs of non-lactating, weak, unproductive and stray cattle. However, a few fore front Gaushalas also maintain nucleus herd for in-situ conservation of indigenous purebred cows and produce quality males so as to enhance productivity of indigenous breeds. With this view, present study was undertaken with the objective of understanding the level of adoption of good management practices by the Gaushalas. The study was conducted in Karnataka State involving 40 out of 80 registered Gaushalas, categorized as small (n=12), medium (n=18) and large (n=10) Gaushalas based on the herd size. Good management practices play an important role in improving the production performances of cattle, enhancing efficiency of animals in Gaushalas. In the present study ‘adoption’ was operationalised as the degree to which the good management practices viz., breeding, feeding, healthcare, general management and hygienic milk production, were adopted in the Gaushalas.

With the depletion of natural resources, the protection of the environment is not only limited to a small part of its corporate social responsibility, but it must be a model in business organizations. Model GMS-oriented environment, will systematically affect the company in reducing waste, reducing the use of natural resources, reduce pollution and continuously monitoring the purpose of creating business results that were positive for all stakeholders. Modern business travel will continue to come under pressure from the environment and the realization of the company's sustainability strategy, the managers began to review the possibility of implementation of GMS in the management system of the organization; directs the management of the organization, developing technologies to reduce adverse environmental impact and develop the production of green (green production) more rational and cost-effective. Development and implementation of green policies in environmental management become an important part of the transformation of business management functions in optimizing the use of GMS to improve corporate performance and benefits for environmental sustainability. Direct implications for the development and implementation of environmental protection in the modern business organization in accordance with modern green standards and the principles of environmental sustainability and a company associated with the creation of the organization, program and structure, education and training of human resources will enable the transfer and dissemination of knowledge for environmental protection
