The company is established in Patras, back in 1983, with main activity the distribution and development of national sales networks of imported and local food & beverages products, operating in the Greek market. Over the years REZOS BRANDS has extended its operations to all activities of the vertical business model: from the farm to the fork, which includes cultivation, harvesting, research, process, packaging, warehouse storing, marketing, distribution. Having own multifunctional farm, the super foods are cultivated and grown up with the principles of sustainable precision farming in order to develop, monitoring & analysing high nutritional value crops. The crops have been processed with novel processing techniques, such as osmotic dehydration.

The arracacha is an alternative of fresh-cut product; however it can be easily degraded after the processing techniques. The objective of this work was to evaluate the useful life of fresh-cut arracacha submitted to two types of cuts and storage, as well as to evaluate the activity of antioxidant enzymes. The roots were selected, sanitized and submitted to two cut types: cubed and grated. Then they were evaluated at 3 times: 0, 3 and 7 days. The cutting in cubes provided higher quality and lower SOD, CAT and APX activity. However, the grated product presented higher PG activity and lower PPO activity. The microbiological safety and the nutritional value were maintained in both cuts during the whole storage period. The useful life, regarding the physicochemical, nutritional and microbiological aspects, can be established at 7 days under refrigeration for fresh-cut arracacha.

This issue of the MRS BULLETIN is devoted to high Tc superconductivity. It is the sequel to a previous series of articles on the same subject which appeared in the MRS BULLETIN in January 1989. While the articles in the January 1989 issue emphasized the families of high Tc superconducting oxides known at that rime, as well as novel processing techniques and thin films, the papers in this issue focus on the physical properties of high Tc oxide superconductors.The quality of polycrystalline and single-crystal bulk and thin-film materials has improved to the point where researchers can now make reliable measurements of many physical properties representative of the intrinsic behavior of these materials. As a result, a broad spectrum of important issues such as the nature of the electronic structure, the type of superconducting electron pairing, the magnitude and temperature dependence of the superconducting energy gap, the behavior of fluxoids in the vortex state, etc., can be addressed meaningfully. Presently emerging is a consistent picture of the physical properties of the high Tc oxides, which will form the foundation to eventually developing an appropriate theory for the normal and superconducting states of these remarkable materials.

Abstract In traditional ceramic processing techniques, high sintering temperature is necessary to achieve fully dense microstructures. But it can cause various problems including warpage, overfiring, element evaporation, and polymorphic transformation. To overcome these drawbacks, a novel processing technique called “cold sintering process (CSP)” has been explored by Randall et al. CSP enables densification of ceramics at ultra-low temperature (⩽300°C) with the assistance of transient aqueous solution and applied pressure. In CSP, the processing conditions including aqueous solution, pressure, temperature, and sintering duration play critical roles in the densification and properties of ceramics, which will be reviewed. The review will also include the applications of CSP in solid-state rechargeable batteries. Finally, the perspectives about CSP is proposed.

Image acquisition in a wider swath, cannot assess the best spatial resolution (SR) and temporal resolution (TR) simultaneously, due to inherent limitations of space borne sensors. But any of the information extraction from remote sensed (RS) images demands the above characteristics. As this is not possible onboard, suitable ground processing techniques need to be evolved to realise the requirements through advanced image processing techniques. The proposed work deals with processing of two onboard sensor data viz., Resourcesat-1 (RS1): LISS-III, which has medium swath combined with AWiFS, which has wider swath data to provide high spatial and temporal resolution at the same instant. LISS-III at 23m and 24 days, AWiFS at 56m and 5 days spatial and temporal revisits acquire the data at different swaths. In the process of acquisition at the same time, the 140km swath of LISS-III coincides at the exact centre line 740km swath of AWiFS. If the non-overlapping area of AWiFS has same features of earth’s surface as of LISS-III overlapping area, it then provides a way to increase the SR of AWiFS to SR of LISS-III in the same non-overlapping area. Using this knowledge, a novel processing technique Fast One Pair Learning and Prediction (FOPLP) is developed in which time is optimized against the existing methods. FOPLP improves the SR of LISS-III in non-overlapping area using technique Single Image Super Resolution (SISR) with Non Sub sampled Contourlet Transforms (NSCT) method and is applied on different sets of images. The proposed technique resulting into an image having TR of 5 days, 740km swath at SR of 23m. Results have shown the strength of the proposed method in terms of computation time and prediction accuracy assessment.

The emergence of a new discipline called space weather, which aims at understanding and predicting the impact of solar activity on the terrestrial environment and on technological systems, has led to a growing need for analysing solar images in real time. The rapidly growing volume of solar images, however, makes it increasingly impractical to process them for scientific purposes. This situation has prompted the development of novel processing techniques for doing feature recognition, image tracking, knowledge extraction, et cetera. This chapter focuses on two particular concepts and lists some of their applications. The first one is Blind Source Separation (BSS), which has great potential for condensing the information that is contained in multispectral images. The second one is multiscale (multiresolution, or wavelet) analysis, which is particularly well suited for capturing scale-invariant structures in solar images.

The development of edible films and coatings has seen remarkable growth in recent decades and is expected to have an important impact on the quality of food products in the coming years. This growth is attributed to the increasing knowledge of edible films and edible coating technology, as well as advances in material science and processing technology. Packaging is used in order to reduce synthetic packaging and can play a role as an eco-friendly biodegradable package or a protective coating on the food surface. A large amount of bio-based polymers have been used in the production of edible films and coatings. Novel sources of edible materials, as well as the novel processing techniques, are a subject of great interest due to their promising potential as innovative food packaging systems. This paper presents the concept and potential for application of new film-forming materials and management of food wastes from the fruit and vegetable industry, which can encounter problems in appropriate disposal. It summarizes the extensive knowledge about the new film-forming materials such as plant residues, flours and gums to show their protective effectiveness and suitability in various types of foods.
