ABSTRACTThis paper provides an overview of educational studies about historical consciousness. The route proposed is one among many possible and focuses specifically on the contributions to research in History Didactics in the last decades. This selection of European and American works (a view from South America) highlights the concern to clarify the factors influencing historical consciousness and the mechanisms for its construction. Also the role that the school may have in development of narratives that link past - present - future, without forgetting some problems and barriers in specific contexts. The latest research also implies that people itself should be assumed as actors who can change their reality, so that the relationship between the individual and the collective is one aspect to consider in the process of teaching and learning.RESUMENEn el presente artículo se ofrece un panorama de los estudios educativos que se ocupan de la conciencia histórica.

Although the predictors of delinquency are well-documented in the psychological and criminological literature, an understanding of their relationship with longitudinal criminality in an offender sample has not been achieved. The purpose of this thesis was to examine the relationship between childhood and adolescent criminal predictors and protective factors and the four criminal trajectories identified by Day et al. (2008). Results revealed differences in predictor items among the trajectory groups within the individual, family and peer domains during childhood and adolescence. A backward stepwise procedure found that the following childhood variables, broken home and involvement with alternative care. Identifying the factors influencing the onset and maintenance of criminality can inform prevention and intervention programs that target antisocial and delinquent behaviour.

To understand the relationship between standardisation and originality in surgery, the contributions of three surgeons in the 20th century are analysed. The individual Arbuthnot Lane, the collectivist Robert Jones and the scientist Alexis Carrel changed the practice of orthopaedic surgery. It is argued that the factors influencing innovation are not binary but multifactorial and that advances in surgery occur when individual freedom is permitted within a system. It is concluded that innovation and standardisation in orthopaedic surgery need not conflict with each other.

Today, mass media constitute the widespread sharing, transmission and transmission channels of societies, and games played on the computer, which is a mass communication tool, are also accepted as an important media tool. These games are an activity tool where individuals of all ages, especially the young generation, evaluate their spare time, relieve stress and participate to have fun. Since computer games have become widespread, they have gained popularity day by day as they have the opportunity to convey personal ideas and ideologies of individuals. In this context, the national feelings of individuals also manifest themselves in games. The nationalistic attitudes and behaviors of individuals, which are revealed by computer games, which are one of the most popular technological developments of the 21st century, constitute the subject of the research. In this context, Mobile Legends, one of the most played games in the world, was selected and the user dialogues with the winners of the game in Turkey gave direction to the research. The fact that the communities in the game are divided according to nationalities and compete with the flags of their own country has been important for the selection of the game. The relationship of the individual with the flag has been revealed by the analyzes taken from the Turkey Values Research.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between the factors influencing investors sentiment and investment decision-making (DM) of the individual investors. This paper proposes a unique conceptual framework that incorporates the herding, market and awareness factors that are leading to investor sentiment (IS) and decision-making process of the individual investors. Design/methodology/approach This study has conducted a questionnaire-based survey to collect data from 875 individual investors through the convenience sampling method. Structural equation modeling was used to evaluate the relationship between factors, namely, market effect, herd behavior, media, social interaction and advocate recommendation that influences IS and DM. Findings The present study found that market effect and herding are the most significantly influencing factors of investors sentiment. Among the sources of awareness, the internet has the lowest influence when compared to media, social interaction and advocate recommendation. Practical implications This study will help individual investors to avoid the problems faced while making an investment decision. The study could help investors to select a suitable investment aid and avoid repeating expensive errors, which arise due to investors’ sentiment. It is recommended to increase the awareness regarding investors’ sentiment among individuals, so as to increase their understanding about the financial settings and to make them confident while investing. The present study also sheds light upon the behavior of Indian individual investors so that policymakers can take appropriate measures to provide the proper guidance. Policymakers can conduct awareness campaigns to increase investors’ knowledge on the market condition and to enhance proper investment DM among them. Originality/value To best of the authors’ knowledge, previous studies have focused on limited factors at a time. The present study has investigated how factors influencing investors sentiment, namely, market factors (MF), herding as well as awareness would influence investment DM among individual investors in India. The influence of these factors has never been studied simultaneously in the context of Indian individual investors’ DM.

Objective: This study aimed to explore parents' attitudes toward the content of their child's packed lunch, school healthy eating policies, and their child's wishes. Furthermore, in this context, it also aimed to explore perceptions of health promotional materials and how these interventions interplayed with issues parents felt were important. Design: The ideology of ‘figured worlds’ was used as a stance to consider the relationship between bounding structures within society and the individual positional identity. Focus groups interviews obtained qualitative data of parents' multiple viewpoints. Iterative categorisation was employed as a method of analysis to observed findings in the data in relation to the individuals as intersubjective beings and their behaviour influenced by environmental conditions. Setting: A cross selection of local schools and parenting network were approached. Snowballing techniques were implemented highlighting the inclusion criteria. Subjects: Participants were required to have a child attending primary school who they provided a packed lunch for on a regular basis. Results: Three umbrella themes were identified: ‘The parents ideal’, ‘The child's desires’, and ‘Inconsistencies of the governing school’. A fourth theme, ‘The health promotional intrusion’ provides insight into the parents' reality when being presented with health promotional materials. Conclusions: This study has highlighted the complex, conflicting interplay between parents' ideal for their child's diet, their child's desires and the governing approaches to encouraging healthier choices. This understanding is vital when designing specific interventions to meet the needs of individuals, which prevent, protect and promote a healthy lifestyle for children and their families.

After the individual case studies presented in the previous chapters, the book now investigates whether the results of the individual case analyses can be generalized, which depends on whether they can also be confirmed against the background of a larger sample. A multilevel analysis involving a total of fifty-four countries was therefore carried out. Church attendance and belief in God, as well as indexes of individual and church religiosity, were used as dependent variables. The guiding set of questions developed in Chapter 3 was operationalized in the selection of the independent variables: the compatibility of religion with functional differentiation, the relationship between religion and differentiation between levels, and the relationship between religious vitality and religious plurality. One interesting result of the multilevel analysis was that belief in God that is part of church interaction is contextually more independent than belief in God that is not tied to the church.

The work gives a characteristic of first-calf cows (n=193) by the intensity of milk removal and an evaluation of their individual milk removal characteristics during milking at the Carousel installation. Recording milking parameters was done by means of measuring unit Dairy Plan. To study the effect of one-time milk yield on the interrelation between milk removal parameters, two groups were made depending on the limit of fluctuations in one-time milk yield (30 cows each). In the second group, the first-calf cows studied were divided into three groups depending on the duration of milking. When characterizing first-calf cows by average intensity of milk excretion, groups of animals were distinguished that differ in the value of one-time milk yields. The highest one-time milk yield was shown in first-calf cows with the highest milk removal intensity. There has been shown the effect of one-time milk yield on the level of the relationship between the duration of milking and the average intensity of milk removal. An analysis of the milk production parameters of the group with a narrow limit of fluctuations in the one-time milk yield allowed us to divide first-calf cows depending on the individual characteristics of milk yield and showed a very close relationship (r=-0.95; P<0.001) between the average intensity of milk removal and the duration of milking. Of the two parameters of milking: the average intensity of milk removal and the duration of milking, it is recommended to use the value of the average intensity of milk removal to assess the individual characteristics of milk production in cows. The evaluation and selection of first-calf cows with a high intensity of milk removal will contribute to an increase in the milk production of the herd.

This article has two purposes: (a) to examine the relationship between intercultural power relations and the widespread practice of accent discrimination and (b) to underscore the ramifications of accent discrimination both for the individual and for global society as a whole. First, authors review social theory regarding language and group identity construction, and then go on to integrate more current studies linking accent bias to sociocultural variables. Authors discuss three examples of intercultural accent discrimination in order to illustrate how this link manifests itself in the broader context of international relations (i.e., how accent discrimination is generated in situations of unequal power) and, using a review of current research, assess the consequences of accent discrimination for the individual. Finally, the article highlights the impact that linguistic discrimination is having on linguistic diversity globally, partially using data from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and partially by offering a potential context for interpreting the emergence of practices that seek to reduce or modify speaker accents.

Abstract. Background: Self-esteem is a major contributor to risk for repeated suicide attempts. Prior research has shown that awareness of stigma is associated with reduced self-esteem among people with mental illness. No prior studies have examined the association between self-esteem and stereotype awareness among individuals with past suicide attempts. Aims: To understand the relationship between stereotype awareness and self-esteem among young adults who have and have not attempted suicide. Method: Computerized surveys were administered to college students (N = 637). Linear regression analyses were used to test associations between self-esteem and stereotype awareness, attempt history, and their interaction. Results: There was a significant stereotype awareness by attempt interaction (β = –.74, p = .006) in the regression analysis. The interaction was explained by a stronger negative association between stereotype awareness and self-esteem among individuals with past suicide attempts (β = –.50, p = .013) compared with those without attempts (β = –.09, p = .037). Conclusion: Stigma is associated with lower self-esteem within this high-functioning sample of young adults with histories of suicide attempts. Alleviating the impact of stigma at the individual (clinical) or community (public health) levels may improve self-esteem among this high-risk population, which could potentially influence subsequent suicide risk.
