Application of methods of conditional multidimensional minimization to the ballistic trajectory calculation problem

The paper focuses on the problem of calculating the approximate ballistic missile trajectory, the calculation ensuring that the missile travels from a given launch point to the finish point and covering the entire range rate for the missiles of the type considered. The missile trajectory is defined by a system of nonlinear differential equations. A different range is achieved by changing the initial values of the flight-path angle and the operating time of the missile stages. Due to the physical significance, these variables are constrained. The article presents the synthesis of a functional diagram of an adaptive automatic control system (ACS) for controlling an aircraft with an automatically reconfigurable multidimensional PI controller, which provides the minimum static and minimum mean square error of control with minimal energy consumption for the formation of the control exposure. The synthesis of ACS algorithms is performed as a result of solving the problem of conditionally minimizing the quadratic functional of the generalized work (taking into account restrictions on state variables and control actions given by differential equations of the control object (CO) and inequalities). The mathematical description of the multidimensional CO is carried out using the CO model in the state space, which automatically takes into account the mutual influence of individual control loops on each other. As the state variables of the aircraft, linear displacements, speeds and accelerations of the center of mass of the aircraft, and angular displacements, speeds and accelerations of the rotational movement of the aircraft relative to the center of mass are used. The matrix equation of dynamics of the aircraft is formed by a system of nonlinear differential equations of the first order of forces and moments of forces acting on the aircraft. To ensure the minimum static control error, integrators are included in the ACS (for each control action). The algorithm for the formation of control actions of the extended CO, providing the declared properties of the ACS, is obtained as a result of solving the problem of conditional minimization of the generalized work functional. The task of conditional minimization of a functional with constraints is performed by the maximum principle. The resulting two-point boundary value problem is transformed by the invariant immersion method into a Cauchy problem for optimal values of state variables. The evaluation of the characteristics of a specific adaptive ACS for the spacecraft is expected to be obtained as a result of further research by mathematical modeling.

We derive the system of coupled nonlinear differential equations that govern the motion of yarn in general. The equations are written in a (non-uniformly) rotating observation frame and are thus appropriate for description of over-end unwinding of yarn from stationary packages. We comment on physical significance of virtual forces that appear in a non-inertial frame and we devote particular attention to a lesser known force, that only appears in non-uniformly rotating frames. We show that this force should be taken into account when the unwinding point is near the edges of the package, when the quasi-stationary approximation is not valid because the angular velocity is changing with time. The additional force has an influence on the yarn dynamics in this transient regime where the movement of yarn becomes complex and can lead to yarn slipping and even breaking.

In the present article, a direct approach, namely exp(-?)-expansion method, is used for obtaining analytical solutions of the Pochhammer-Chree equations which have a many of models. These solutions are expressed in exponential functions expressed by hyperbolic, trigonometric and rational functions with some parameters. Recently, many methods were attempted to find exact solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations, but it seems that the exp(-?)-expansion method appears to be efficient for finding exact solutions of many nonlinear differential equations.

AbstractThe aim of this paper is to study one class of nonlinear differential equations, which model the Antarctic circumpolar current. We prove the existence results for such equations related to the geophysical relevant boundary conditions. First, based on the weighted eigenvalues and the theory of topological degree, we study the semilinear case. Secondly, the existence results for the sublinear and superlinear cases are proved by fixed point theorems.

We discuss a third-order differential equation, involving a general form of nonlinearity. We obtain results describing how suitable coefficient functions determine the asymptotic and (non-)oscillatory behavior of solutions. We use comparison technique with first-order differential equations together with the Kusano–Naito’s and Philos’ approaches.

The aim of this work is to investigate the oscillation of solutions of higher-order nonlinear differential equations with a middle term. By using the integral averaging technique, Riccati transformation technique and comparison technique, several oscillatory properties are presented that unify the results obtained in the literature. Some examples are presented to demonstrate the main results.
