Based on the analysis of the main factors which influence the cost of the anti-slide pile, a mathematical model was proposed. In this model, the expenditure of anti-slide pile construction was taken as the objective function, and the constraints covered the strength and stability of anti-slide pile, the strength of the soil mass or rock mass and some other demands. A program was developed for the anti-slide pile geometry sizes determination using stochastic search algorithm. With the aid of this program, appropriate geometry sizes of anti-slide pile with lower cost and enough safety could be automatically found. An example showed that the cost of the anti-slide pile could be decreased in contrust with conventional design method.

This paper presents global optimization algorithms that incorporate the idea of an interval branch and bound and the stochastic search algorithms. Two algorithms for unconstrained problems are proposed, the hybrid interval simulated annealing and the combined interval branch and bound and genetic algorithm. The numerical experiment shows better results compared to Hansen’s algorithm and simulated annealing in terms of the storage, speed, and number of function evaluations. The convergence proof is described. Moreover, the idea of both algorithms suggests a structure for an integrated interval branch and bound and genetic algorithm for constrained problems in which the algorithm is described and tested. The aim is to capture one of the solutions with higher accuracy and lower cost. The results show better quality of the solutions with less number of function evaluations compared with the traditional GA.

Suboptimal heuristic search algorithms can benefit from reasoning about heuristic error, especially in a real-time setting where there is not enough time to search all the way to a goal. However, current reasoning methods implicitly or explicitly incorporate assumptions about the cost-to-go function. We consider a recent real-time search algorithm, called Nancy, that manipulates explicit beliefs about the cost-to-go. The original presentation of Nancy assumed that these beliefs are Gaussian, with parameters following a certain form. In this paper, we explore how to replace these assumptions with actual data. We develop a data-driven variant of Nancy, DDNancy, that bases its beliefs on heuristic performance statistics from the same domain. We extend Nancy and DDNancy with the notion of persistence and prove their completeness. Experimental results show that DDNancy can perform well in domains in which the original assumption-based Nancy performs poorly.

FORESTRY TRANSPORTATION COSTS MINIMIZATION USING LINEAR PROGRAMMING Abstract The complexity of planning the forest transport leads to developing of a method to aid in the determination of the best routes to be used for trucks, aiming to the lower cost possible for de maximum volume of wood transported. Aiming to the solution of this problem of transport trough linear programming, the method reported in this work allows in situation of several wood origins and just one destine, analyzes on the ideal number of traveling, the optimum truck loading, the lower cost per wood unit volume and the maximum monthly truck mileage. The results obtained in this case study showed economic adequation of the method to transport planning using linear programming, accounting the increase of 22,7% in the wood volume delivery and reduction of 18,33% in the cost on the same number of trucks.

Recently, a convergence proof of stochastic search algorithms toward finite size Pareto set approximations of continuous multi-objective optimization problems has been given. The focus was on obtaining a finite approximation that captures the entire solution set in some suitable sense, which was defined by the concept of ɛ-dominance. Though bounds on the quality of the limit approximation—which are entirely determined by the archiving strategy and the value of ɛ—have been obtained, the strategies do not guarantee to obtain a gap free approximation of the Pareto front. That is, such approximations A can reveal gaps in the sense that points f in the Pareto front can exist such that the distance of f to any image point F(a), a ∈ A, is “large.” Since such gap free approximations are desirable in certain applications, and the related archiving strategies can be advantageous when memetic strategies are included in the search process, we are aiming in this work for such methods. We present two novel strategies that accomplish this task in the probabilistic sense and under mild assumptions on the stochastic search algorithm. In addition to the convergence proofs, we give some numerical results to visualize the behavior of the different archiving strategies. Finally, we demonstrate the potential for a possible hybridization of a given stochastic search algorithm with a particular local search strategy—multi-objective continuation methods—by showing that the concept of ɛ-dominance can be integrated into this approach in a suitable way.

The problem of optimal portfolio of purchase of products (services) at the enterprises from many possible ones is considered. In this setting, the problem is explored and solved for the first time using a simulation tool. A mathematical model of the problem is built and an algorithm for its solution is developed. When building a mathematical model, the following parameters are taken into account: the number of types of products / services purchased; the number of enterprises that produce the required products; the need for products of a certain type; the cost of manufacturing a unit of production of each type at each enterprise; generalized indicator of quality of manufactured products of each type at each enterprise; index of identified comparative advantages in the manufacture of products j-th enterprise; the general budget of funds allocated for the purchase of products (financing the manufacture of products). The developed mathematical model makes it possible to find the optimal result of distribution of the required volume of orders (purchases) of each type of products at different enterprises (or at one enterprise), which provides the maximum offered level of product quality, and product purchase costs do not exceed the planned level. To illustrate the results of the developed algorithm, the example shows the search for the best option for purchasing products of four types (meeting a specific need) at each of the five companies offering these types of products. The proposed algorithm is of interest for practical application, makes it possible to determine the optimal portfolio of purchases of products (semi-finished products, parts), to solve the problem of optimal "package" purchases / orders. It is advisable to use it in private business, in enterprises of various spheres of activity and forms of ownership, as well as at the macro level of the economy, in particular, in the process of finding optimal options for government programs.

In any economy there is a need for the bulky goods transportation which cannot be divided into smaller parts. Such cargoes include building structures, elements of industrial equipment, tracked or wheeled construction and agricultural machinery, heavy armored military vehicles. In any case, tractor-semitrailer should provide fast delivery of goods with minimal fuel consumption. In order to guarantee the goods delivery, tractor-semitrailers must be able to overcome the existing roads broken grade and be capable to tow a semi-trailer in off-road conditions. These properties are especially important for military equipment transportation. The important factor that determines a tractor-semitrailer mobility is its gradeability. The purpose of this work is to improve a tractor-semitrailer mobility with tractor units manufactured at PJSC “AutoKrAZ” by increasing the tractor-semitrailer gradeability. The customer requirements for a new tractor are determined by the maximizing the grade to 18°. The analysis of the characteristics of modern tractor-semitrailers for heavy haulage has shown that the highest rate of this grade is 16.7°. The factors determining the limiting gradeability value were analyzed, based on the tractor-semitrailer with a KrAZ-6510TE tractor and a semi-trailer with a full weight of 80 t. It has been developed a mathematical model to investigate the tractor and semi-trailer axles vertical reactions distribution on the tractor-semitrailer friction performances. The mathematical model has allowed to calculate the gradeability value that the tractor-semitrailer can overcome in case of wheels and road surface friction value and the tractive force magnitude from the engine. The mathematical model adequacy was confirmed by comparing the calculations results with the data of factory tests. The analysis showed that on a dry road the KrAZ-6510TE tractor with a 80 t gross weight semitrailer is capable to climb a gradient of 14,35 ° with its coupling mass full use condition. The engine's maximum torque allows the tractor-semitrailer to overcome a gradient of 10.45° It has been determined the ways to improve the design of the KrAZ-6510TE tractor to increase its gradeability. Keywords: tractor, tractor-semitrailer vehicle mobility, tractor-semitrailer vehicle gradeability.
